I needed help with focus. This app helps me do so across all my devices. I have had it for 2 weeks and my productivity has improved. I am looking forward to the update where you can have different app block lists. I like to use an pretty severe block list for studying but would like to make one to stay off YT before bed. Great product! Glad I finally bit the bullet and bought it.

The app prevents users from editing the blocklist while a session is active. This is a really bad decision, because it makes customizing the blocklist gradually in response to experience much more difficult than it needs to be. For example, 30 minutes ago I realized it didn't make sense to block WhatsApp, because I sometimes need to respond to urgent messages. But I cannot currently remove this app from the blocklist because the session will last for another six hours, and by the time the session expires, I will probably have forgotten that I had to make this change. I guess I could set an alarm to remind myself, but it isn't practical to do this dozens of times. If the worry is that users will abuse this feature to get access to an app or website that is supposed to be blocked, why not give users the option to disable the feature and prevent THIS setting from being changed while a session is active?

Its taken a little trial and error to get used to setting and planning recurring 'sessions', but this App has been able to help me create the boundaries I've been missing in my life. Our phones have become the new drug. If you have a drug addiction and you want out, you don't keep drugs at arms reach. This app is helping me change the way I live and has saved me from needing to resort to a dumb phone or flip phone. I can still use selected apps & totally block the internet when I need to.

Overall I like the app and it's helped me curb mindless tapping before bed. It has a simple (perhaps too-minimal) interface for setting recurring block sessions and selecting apps to block. However, it doesn't seem to account for time zones! I had to uninstall while on vacation because it would start three hours too early. I look forward to re-installing after I get home and hope the developers address this oversight soon.

The customer service is very responsive and helpful; however, that doesn't help much when the issues with the app can't be resolved. It does not block applications like it says it does. Have tried many things to get it to work with the help of customer service but nothing has resolved my issues. I hope an update to the app comes out soon that can address these problems. Other than that I like the UI and like the fact that sessions can be used across devices, and it does block websites.

This has been super useful to help me focus. The only downfall was allowing only one list of blocked apps but the new update fixes that. I can now make different lists for blocked apps and put them on their own schedule. Example: I don't want games available during working hours but do want to be able to play TV shows. At bedtime I want to block streaming to help me sleep. Overall great app!

So far so good. If you pay for the app, you can't turn off a "session" while it's running, and you can schedule these sessions to recurr. The scheduling could definitely be better. There is only a start and end, and it's all apps in blocklist or nothing. It feels pretty clumsy, as i can't eg schedule breaks to allow YouTube during lunchtime, or schedule everything on just one session. Maybe they should hire me and we can work out how to make the app flexible.

The app itself is great... when it works. I am constantly having to uninstall and reinstall because it keeps ceasing to block apps after some time. When I contacted, customer support, we made sure all of my settings were correct and they suggested I uninstall and reinstall. It worked that time, but I've been having to do it periodically ever since. It's very annoying, especially since I am paying for this.

I am not sure why the app only have 2.9 stars. It might be that the app itself might need some getting used to. The service and the app itself, to me, are awesome and life changing. I used many services and apps to block distracting sites and apps, but none of them wasn't really good. With Freedom, I get a single place in which I can create and mange all of my distracting sites and apps and initiate a block session, that works across all devices (couple of laptops, couple of phones, etc.). This is a great service and app, highly recommended to anyone who struggle with keeping focus and maintain concentration.

Seems to be the best option available. I like it a lot. However, when blocking messaging apps you can still reply from the drop-down window for some reason. Also, for the truly addicted, I wish there was something to discourage me from just uninstalling the app or turning off the phone to end a session. Maybe something like discarding all your settings or forcing a password reset if you decide to uninstall. And if you decide to restart your phone, the session should start up immediately again.

Works as expected on Windows, but the Android app still needs work. For example, it lacks completeness in that it only works for Chrome, where my primary browser is Firefox. It's also buggy: going to a blocked website creates a new tab with the message that you're being blocked, but leaves the original tab the same. Having properly synced and working PC and Android apps was a major reason I got this app, so I'm a bit disappointed, but still getting something of value out of it.

This is such a unique and phenomenal app and tool for focus!!!! Highly recommended. My only wish is that they'd develop the ability the ability to have different apps blocked at different times because some apps are both necessary AND a distraction depending on the use, so it would be helpful to block some during the evening when I'm trying to unwind and unblock them during the day when I need them while still blocking other apps without having to manually change the settings each time. Still ❤️

After using this for a year, I still think the developers need to make a password mandatory for uninstalling it or accessing a phone's settings (Android LG phone). Otherwise it is too easy to bypass it. I can't find the settings blocking they mention, and I haven't been able to access the App blocking (shield icon) on the Freedom app for several months now. It keeps crashing when I try.

This App is amazing... one of the very few multiplatform out there and at an amazing price. I've used it on my Macbook, iPhone and Windows netbook, where I've set a 24/7 locked on distracting websites and content. The android app is nice, however, it is missing a crucial feature, which is the pin protection from uninstall. If they can learn from apps such as Detoxify, Blocker X for inspiration on how to prevent uninstall, I think this will take this app/platform to the next level. Until then, I will cheer them up as I hope to see this feature soon!

Easy to use, really helpful reduction of temptation to distraction and digital addiction. Works smoothly across my phone, tablet, and computer. Does require a paid subscription but was like 20 something dollars for a whole year, which I find to be reasonable. My main complaint is that if you accidentally start a session with a mistake like an incorrect end date, the only way to end it is delete the app. There is supposedly an option to edit the session, but it does not work.

As a longtime user and paying customer, it's been disappointing to experience both the declining quality and increasing price of this once useful product. Finally it got to be such a source of frustration and wasted time (not what one is seeking from a productivity app). that I canceled my subscription. The tech support is really bad, and even after I had the issue escalated to management, there were a lot of excuses and not a lot of accountability. I am now using Cold Turkey but am also going to try out some other alternatives.

I love the multi-platform features but sadly the app is pretty primitive for the amount of marketing they do and money they charge. On Windows the app blocker simply terminates the programs. On Android there is no way to snooze the block - only to end the session. I have used Stay Focused and that app does much more much better. And on Windows Microsoft Family Safety does the same thing for free, with ability to extend or bypass block times and without terminating the apps and risk of data loss

This helps curb my impulsiveness. I have this on all my devices and so whole hours of the day are set up to stay on point digitally. I combine this with covenant eyes, which has both accountability and url blocking, and they make a really good pair. Only increased functionality I can think of is to make the allowed-url list populate across devices so I don't have to set it manually on each one.

This app is so easy to use and has kept me from wasting time on my phone. It helps so much with my ADHD brain is attempting to get dopamine but also not do work. I highly recommend this. If you need a way to lock yourself and your phone while you are doing work or other things. It even has a feature that keeps me from unlocking myself so that I can't defeat the things I put in place. Definitely awesome. Worth the money I spent on it. I heard about it originally on the Multiamory podcast.

Solid app - one weakness is they do a very poor job of doing a comprehensive job of blocking adult sites. They don't seem to have anyone keeping a close eye on making sure the websites listed under the "adult" tab actually includes all the relevant sites, particularly the ones that are included in Google searches. But, combined with a "safe" browser (like spin on android) it can be an effective part of a blocking toolkit.
