Excel for Android has come a long way since it's inception. I've always used it on Windows as Mac, but the app on my phone has always been missing something to make it a keeper for daily use. The current version of Excel is very easy to use and has several features that make the creation of spreadsheets on my Samsung S9+ easy. I believe a bit more thought should be given to formatting cells and so forth, since this is still a bit counterintuitive, but it is possible with a bit of practice.

"This version of Excel doesn't support running or interacting with form controls.". I was excited. My work requires me to fill out pre-made excel templates, and I finally didn't have to lug my laptop around with me. But they use a bubble checkmark system which appearantly the mobile version doesnt support for some reason. Works fine on desktop. 1 star. Fix it.

2020 Sept. BACK TO F***** CORRUPTING FILES.2 HOURS WORK WASTED. ... 2019: Previous severe issue appears resolved, where Excel was corrupting files. So moved from 1 to 4 stars. However, I'm still having trust issues. So I switched to manual save. I save before changing tabs. Also, I do a final save, then a "save as," and create a backup copy EVERY time I edit. PTSD from previous issue? If not for the severity of the last issue, I would be back to 5 stars.

So far so good, considering the capabilities of my device are horrid, this application works very well. I bet it will be incredible on a better device. I love that it has a simple interface and hope that's the case with versions, if any, for an upgraded device. Soon I will find that out, if it's a headache, I'm sure I can download the version currently in use by me. I will have a bigger screen and Excel will then take the place of many apps I use. Yay Microsoft!

I remember the years when excel was a necessary evil. And there were sooo many years like that. They've shown marked improvement over the past 6 or 8 years which has made me an excel fan boy. Their Android app is amazing!! Simple, easy to use, yet has so many features for a mobile app. Don't think that you'll even come close to the full desktop version, but you can do more than you would think. Great job MS!!

Terrible loading times. It tries to re-download the workbook every time, which takes minutes even for the smallest files. I don't know why they don't let you immediately work from cache and sync in the background. This is a consumer product, not some Enterprise 360 business project. Google docs and OneNote are more seemless. I enable airplane mode to speed up loading. Sometimes it doesn't sync if you switch tasks. This app is also very lot lite on Excel features.

I've always loved and appreciated Excel and all of Microsoft Office (360) software programs, and now 'apps.' They are exceptionally user-friendly and a "Must" for today's information-based life. Four Stars is only due to the view formatting for smartphones; It may be just my personal experience, however, I believe something could be done to improve the data entry fields and options to modify the content. Yet, the learning curve, to be fluent in using the software, is an end-user responsibility.

I used to use this app heavily. Then the formula bar moved to the bottom of the screen. I researched: Microsoft said this was a config issue. I tried their suggestions. Didn't work. Uninstalled everything Microsoft, reinstalled, etc. Now, I find out that it's supposedly a feature! No apologies for everyone's attempts to "fix". Back to the old days: Microsoft isn't user-friendly. I can't use formulas at bottom, too difficult. I'm not the only one. We didn't get a choice.

Crashes a lot. Before the crashes, it was a good app, integrating well with Dropbox, but then it started crashing for no reason. Another "great" app from microSOFT. And where did conditional formatting go? I tried to do a "smart lookup" on it to get some "help" but it does absolutely nothing and returns me to my sheet. I guess I found a hole... Overall, missing a few great features from the desktop app, slow, buggy, and not at all efficient. The only thing it does well is reminding me of the real deal on a computer, and then I shudder at that.

Lowering my rating after using this for a while.. It has a lot of useful features similar to the desktop app. However it just doesn't play well with files stored on Dropbox. Whether I open a spreadsheet from Dropbox app or the shortcut to it in Excel, this MS app doesn't have the recent changes from the cloud even though it says it is "downloading" the file. But if I delete the file on Excel, it actually deletes the file in Dropbox. Thankfully Dropbox has a restore feature.

I've liked Excel pretty much back to its inception. Right now I'm having an issue trying to allow access to my SD card. When I try and load an Excel sheet from the SD card, the software has a problem. It doesn't take me back to the SD card it takes me to the download folder, with no other options. This particular file is constantly updated by myself and saved with a new name each time. This is the most important Excel document I have, and I have constant issues with it. I wish you would fix it.

I enjoyed using Excel on my PC and Laptop for many years. So why not continue to use Excel to manage spreadsheets on my Android devices! It works very well and I'm familiar with many of the application features. Excel is the 'Gold Standard' when it comes to spreadsheet applications. Rich with so many features and very powerful for organizing, sorting, retrieving, charting, and presenting both numeric as well as alphabetic data.

We use a shared Excel file for our schedule at work. Works well enough most of the time, but on occasion my home, recent apps, and back buttons will automatically register a ghost touch, causing difficulty with looking at our schedule. This is the ONLY app that this happens to. I am unsure if this is a bug or if it's caused by some kind of setting that I can change, but this is a nuisance that I need support for

Microsoft Excel has encountered an error I get this error when I launch but it seems to still function and I also cannot edit vertical axis of charts because this are pops up it's the only thing I encountered so far I did try resetting the cache resetting the data and then a complete uninstall of the app and reinstall still have the same issue. It is coming along though compared to where it started. It's still not close to the desktop version but that would be kind of hard to do. Thanks Devs

It takes some time to adapt to the cell phone interface but worth the effort. I now can capture data in real time in a form that I can modify as needs change. Note that it is easier to modify the file and analyze the data on a PC so I have to transfer the file between the cell phone and PC. I prefer to keep the file on my cell phone rather than the cloud so I do not have to be connected to enter data. Keeping the file on my phone also gives me the fastest response in entering data.

Well, I totally depended on Excel during my engineering career of ~60 some years. The spreadsheet improved productivity by at least a factor of 10 and offered the opportunity to evaluate alternatives not available before! Now, with updates after the introduction of multiple sheets in about 1992, to the original computer version, I am having trouble keeping up. I'm sure younger generations have no trouble with good upgrade intentions but, older gens like me? Concatenate, and having to suddenly ?

Endlessly frustrating, not remotely intuitive & works *nothing* like the desktop version, so there's a constant learning curve (trying to figure out how to add a line break within a cell took 20min). The few tools that ARE where you'd expect them (screen-top ribbon, including Save) disappear while editing & are hard to get back. Doesn't play nice with Google Drive (saving a file duplicates it instead of overwriting). I'd rather make notes on what needs changing, then work from desktop.

1/28/24 update made data entry impossible with numeric GBoard in Landscape mode. That update also made attaching screen shot to Feedback impossible. + Still showing unwanted stats in Formula Bar when a row or column is selected. Following initial review still applies though. + Incredible app. Constantly learning new capabilities. Wish I could learn what was fixed or changed by each update.

PROS: There are NO ADS! It does everything a spreadsheet is supposed to do. There is a little learning curve, but it is easy to learn. The spreadsheet that I work on often can be pinned, added to the home screen, and it will automatically open and then just exit, and it will save automatically. CON: Poor color selection for fonts/highlights. They are different from the standard like blue looks like sky blue. I have to copy and paste the right color from another app to get it right. RECOMMENDED

It's awesome that we can edit excel sheets on our phones, but the mobile app is not very intuitive. Some things are a pain to figure out how to do, for example simply inserting cells, and some thing are clunky, like selecting a cell to edit. It makes sense that the mobile app wouldn't be microsoft's focus, but I think the idea to try and get the ability to do everything on mobile, instead of doing a few things well, was misguided.
