There is no login, so I assume that if I reinstall, I'll have to go through all the setup again? Very weird setup by the way, had to retry a few times, you need to pair the remote with gateway, repeater and blind - too many devices involved. The remote could simply be connected directly to blind and that's it, or directly to the gateway. Why this repeater after gateway is installed. I think that's bad engineering.

So so bad. Wasted an entire day trying to set up about 10 lights and a couple switches. Some devices won't connect. Some devices eventually connected but then became unresponsive. So frustrated. I really don't want to switch to a whole nother system as I've already invested so much time, but nothing is reliable.

I am now able to add the Google home integration, so what ever the issue it now seems fixed. ***** This latest update send to have broken my Google home integration. I removed the integration like the faq suggests, but I cannot re add it. It just spins and says something went wrong try again. Please fix this, your error messages, or your troubleshooting steps (or all 3 preferably)

App works pretty well. .with just a few glitches relatively easy to work around. However, the 'associate'/employee who advised me while I was purchasing the wi-fi hub lied when she said there was sequential-control in each of the Tradfri transformer/drivers...that individual plug-ins ,(to the driver),could be sequentially controlled thru this app. This statement is false... You can't individually control the 10 lamps/items plugged-in; they all go up/down & color change together. Disappointed

When we bought the system, we found the price just manageable enough for our use because we could use our phones to control it instead of buying a remote control. Of course, we bought the gateway. As it turns out, this app does not let you control the lights unless you also have a remote control. It seems that the app control the remote that in turn controls the lights... since we now need the remote controller, there is not much need for the app anymore.

The app has two main issues: 1. The lowest brightness for the rise-and-shine feature should be MUCH lower. It should really ramp up from complete darkness, rather than waking me up harshly by switching to half-of-max brightness right away. 2. The app basically never finds my Gateway/devices on the first try. I always have to "force stop" the app. Upon reopening it, the devices are usually recognized. This should be more robust. Also, a feature request: widgets/shortcuts for specific lights.

App keeps getting an error trying to connect to Google Assistant. Not pleased with this product line at all. I can understand needing a hub, but every device needs a remote controller too?!?! Defeats the cheap aspect of all the devices if I have to buy a device to connect their device to their device to connect to their app to connect to Google. Yes, really. Oh, and the hub/controller needs to be connected via Ethernet cable too! Not WiFi. Seriously IKEA?!? Returning it all.

When it works it works good but randomly it stop working and need to reset the main unit. Most of the time when they update the app the system stop working with the Amazon Alexa skill. Today my lights stop working with the Alexa. Check the app and have an update. Updated the app, the lights work with the app but non with the Alexa. Try to troubleshoot and end up removing the skill and try to add it again but not it does not link, it says unable to connect to amazon please try later but has being saying that for hours. Now none of my lights work with the Alexa so now they are worthless to me as I did not purchase them to use them with the phone, rather use the switch than pulling an app, looking for a light to be able to turn them on. I rather flip the switch and done. May be returning them all and I have all my house with this lights except the restrooms. This is a pain when it happens, does not happen often but when it does it is a pain and takes time. Some times you need to reset everything and then add all again and set them up. It takes hours to do so I may be done with this lights now. They were good but today just hit the spot that I change my opinion on this lights. If you want something that work with the phone with an app or you want to use their buttons and motion sensors then go for it they are good, for anything else like integrate them with Alexa, I don't think it will be reliable enough to get them. Your choice. I was happy with them but now I hate when they stop working as I am too use to talk instead of flipping switches but I will go back to switches I guess or with another brand. Good luck with them. Thanks

App was working OK, but now all of my blinds are greyed out in the app. They still show up, but I'm unable to control them via the app and smart assistants. I've tried recharging the batteries but that didn't help. At least controlling them via the open/close remote still works, but that's not optimal... *EDIT* I got my system working again by factory resetting EVERYTHING -- blinds, remotes, repeaters and Gateway -- and then adding them one-by-one back to the app. Again, not optimal :-(

I've had to restart the gateway and force kill the app on my phone three times today. It fails to connect and find devices. It's horrible. The remote has decided to stop working too. Usually the remotes work. The app rarely works, I have to perform a gateway reset about once every two days which messes up timers and the whole experience in general. It shouldn't be this bad

by far the most inexpensive smart lighting system on the market. I've had a couple bulbs with stability issues, but IKEA's return policy made it super easy to replace them in less than a day. The app is intuitive and walks you through setup fairly painlessly. I have it integrated into google home and so far it's been really simple to use it with voice activation.

The app works great with the Trådfri lights and plugs. There are a few things I would like to see changed, but overall it's a solid app. I'd like to be able to add the gateway to a new phone without having to scan the qr code on the back of the device. It would also be nice to group devices in more than one room. I want to have the porch light and garage lights in the rooms "Front Porch" & "Garage" & also have them in a group named "Front". Overall, we LOVE the app & Trådfri lights & plugs.

I can't turn lights on or off through the app, nor can I dim the lights. The slider immediately jumps back to 0. I can't create "moods". When trying to add or edit a custom mood, it crashes (closes). I tried deleting cache, reinstalling, reboots... It seems to work on iOS, not Android 10 (EMUI 10, Huawei P30). EDIT: Updates to gateway, devices and the app resolved the issues I reported previously. Therefore three stars.

It has never worked effectively. The hub doesn't lose connection constantly anymore, but now the app fails to connect Every. Single. Time. I have saved the IP, serial and security code to my phone so that I can re-register any time I need to adjust lighting. Without the remote, they are impossible to use with the app alone. I will be throwing them in the garbage soon, I suggest you do the same. Forget about Google Assistant working … Update: It's all in the garbage a long time ago.

Works with my lights and remote dimmer, but "Works with Google?" Nope. That has never worked properly. I've been trying periodically for almost a year now, and every time it just hangs on the "Enable support for Google Assistant" step until it eventually says "Unable to integrate." I've tried searching for answers but haven't found anything useful. False advertising.

It works! Smart home tech can be more trouble than it's worth (ahem Samsung), but this system has been super reliable, affordable, and intuitive. My family uses voice commands frequently via Google home. Tunable + dimmable white lights throughout the house, especially on night stands, provide a warm cozy feel. Remotes are always in reach. App is missing some advanced features, but the simplicity is part of the charm. Setup was quirky, but I haven't fiddled with it in over a year.

The hub used to have a ton of problems keeping connected and when it would reset, it'd confuse Google into thinking the accounts were no longer connected, WHILE IKEA app thought they were! Oh and later the app would refuse to relink to Google if you disconnected it! Haven't had that happen in bit and think the new presets are quite handy. It's only missing widgets. Google home doesn't have widgets, or the preset buttons, so a preset buttons widget would be what everyone needs! Make it happen plz

It is astounding to me that the singular function of this app - to seamlessly connect with and control your lights - does not work and requires troubleshooting on not a monthly or even weekly basis, but daily. Issues with the gateway are a constant headache. If there was an Ikea location close to where I live, these failed lighting experiments would have been replaced with another system long ago. A huge mistake, a constant disappointment, and a regrettably large hole in my wallet.

Constant gateway disconnections make what should be a simple task of adjusting the lights into a headache. I am hoping that IKEA makes it right soon. I'm not yet willing to pull down 3 ceiling light fixtures to take them back. Kind of stuck with a defective product. EDIT (1/8/2019): What a difference a year makes. App is now solid as a rock. Google Home integration works great and the Tradfri UI is vastly improved. We use it daily. Thanks for sticking with it. Changing from 2 to 5 stars.

Latest update: The app is getting worse. For example, the filter keeps blocking settings lke changing fan speed. I turn that off in the app and it goes right back to re-enabling blocks the next morning. They need to hire real developers. Otherwise... Smart home for dumb people. This system is easy but is restricted, dumb, and no where near as useful as SmartThings.
