When I click on email links, the app opens first in my browser with a big overlay that gives me a button to open in the app. I can't view any of the information in the browser because of that. Upon clicking to open the information in the app, it opens handshake on a default start page and does not take me to the relevant information from the link.

Logged in, then logged me out and can't find my school! Very frustrating, it's like my school never existed or partnered with the platform (still get emails for the account! The school exists but app denies it does) Update: To fix the issue I was told to reinstall the app. While it works, still ridicules that there is a major bug that impacts functionally is shrugged off to just keep reinstalling the app. I hope things are being fixed (no indication was given that the bug was going to be fixed)

Zero synchronicity between app and website. Favorites aren't saved, applications may or may not go through, and the UI is abysmal. My net takeaway from this app is email notifications that I have to sign in to disable. Even then, no notification boxes are checked and I still get emails. Nothing but problems with this app.

UPDATE: So I gave handshake a 3 star review back in July stating that it had the works to be a top notch app, but didnt since they lacked an option to search for remote jobs; an extremely important feature for job searching. Well, they've updated their website and app to search for remote positions! Good on them for doing this. I can see myself using the app far more than LinkedIn now.

Hasn't recommended me a job/internship even remotely related to my major, sets my class to sophomore every time I try to set it to freshman, and doesn't even show applicable jobs/internships no matter how many filters I set. I don't understand what the point of this app is if I have to manually scroll through listings, can't upload a resume, and it doesn't show the requirements for the listing unless I spend a minute or 2 scrolling through the description. A waste of time.

This app is basically spam/harassment. I set the job notification parameters to only be to 3 locations, but I get a notification for EVERY SINGLE job in my field no matter where it is. It's at least 10 notifications a day. When emailing support, they told me to adjust my notifications (already had, doesn't work) or to turn off messages from employers (never been a problem). It's absurd for me to be notified of every job posting on the opposite side of country when I'm not relocating.

UI looks good, and the service is helpful but other parts stink. It doesn't give helpful notifications. The most I see is apply to jobs expiring soon, but it doesn't mention which jobs those are nor how long. And when you check in the app, theres no easy way to see the date without clicking on the job. The most frustrating thing is not seeing jobs I've liked. Might've missed it, but I've looked. Only feeds like jobs in research or finance, not one of the actual jobs I've said I'm interested in.

Simple yet frustrating, apply to positions are quick and oftentimes painless. However, the job boards aren't updated so many of the opportunities have either already been filled or aren't being considered anymore. Having a large number of applications accidently go through for a position that's been filled already isn't just a waste of time but also a bit embarrassing.

Seems like it would be helpful - If only it was accurate. When I connected from my school, it incorrectly listed my major & I couldn't find how to change that at first. When I finally figured it out (Or so I thought), I kept getting messages from perhaps well-meaning recruiter accounts; however, they are recounting inaccurate information about me that I'm guessing they are seeing from my profile, including location & job goals. The concept seems nice but these inaccuracies are very frustrating.

I couldn't create a less intuitive, user-friendly UI if I tried. Pop-ups whenever you click a new tab, can't copy paste despite some listings asking you to visit external websites, the keyboard lags when you type in the search bar. An embarrassing effort really, just use the website (that is if they let you, sometimes the website detects you are on a phone and literally hijacks your ability to use the website insisting that the app needs to be downloaded)

Doesn't work effectively. I clicked add experience and added lots of experience. Anytime I added a new one, the last one disappeared. I was also being asked questions to personalize my feed and the app unexpectedly closed and I was unable to finish answering the questions, therefore, my feed is not personalized. Very useless and a waste of time.

If you favorite a job, you'll never see it / find it again until it's about to expire. You would think that'd be one of the easiest things to find. The jobs recommended rarely have anything to do with my interests, education, or location. The emails I get with new/expiring jobs link to my browser and not to the app. The last two emails I've recieved, I've searched for the job and the app can't find it. Now, I can't log in. It only wants a temp passcode that it won't send, not my password?

You can't set parameters for distance from a particular location in your filters. On the website I could go within 5 miles, 15 Mile, 20 miles Etc. It is extremely bothersome that I cannot do this on the app, this is a very small implementation and should be completed immediately. I have to scroll through a thousand jobs instead of a hundred due to this. Huge waste of time.

basically functional, but missing so many features that the mobile site is probably more useful. no ability to sort favorite jobs, no way to look specifically at events you are registered for, cant see what jobs have quick apply until you click through to the description, among other missing quality of life features.

Good app, shows jobs in my area and much further, even when you enter in your mile range you'd like to stay within. Making things a little easier to navigate would be nice, such as being taken straight to the job post when I receive the "new job listing" update in my email. Instead, I have to go searching for it on my own and I don't always find it. Otherwise it's a good and helpful app.

My experience with this app is through two colleges, as both a student and as a staff member and in both situations I would sum this up as an entirely gimmick-based LinkedIn alternative. Most college administration's are partnering and pushing this app heavily, and other than marketing internship webinars, and a lot of advertising of unavailable jobs, I have yet to meet any student who has gotten anything meaningful from the app. The app partners with college career advisors, in a generic form.

Lacking features to make the app less frustrating. A feature needs to be added to block and/or delete messages from recruiters. Mute for 90 days isn't enough. While job searching, it can be disheartening to see the same messages popping up for positions one isn't looking for or has insultingly low pay offers, it makes one question using the app.

Most of the messages and notifications I get are completely irrelevant to me. I've tried to adjust things by editing my profile and such, but there doesn't seem to be any sort of algorithm or targeted recommendations. The job board and search functionality is unsophisticated and frequently advertises jobs that were filled months or years ago.

terrible. the location filters do absolutely nothing. 90% of the jobs it shows me are from other states. also i have no work experience, yet it still shows me openings for "lead" or "head" or "manager" jobs. 🙄 the website is at least somewhat better, but the app is useless.

it's an unhelpful website with odd policies like not allowing me to have files with the same name in different categories because I accidentally uploaded my resume as a cover letter then deleted it. the app doesn't care though because it's been uploaded in a different category. it also will not seem to let me delete outdated things like old resumes.
