In the WRAL Weather app, you’ll find weather forecasts for Raleigh, Durham, Chapel Hill, and Eastern North Carolina. Check the Raleigh weather this week or check the weather this weekend. Plus, the app can keep up with your current location and give the most accurate real-time forecast.
You can easily stay up to date on the weather by receiving forecast information and updates from the WRAL Severe Weather Center in Raleigh, directly through your phone or tablet. You can also find direct links to the Live Cam section of the website and see what’s happening outside right now near you. Get the latest weather forecast, keep track of the cloud cover and rainfall amounts nearby with your Futurecast, and receive severe weather alerts in your area with your exact location.
Add the new WRAL Weather app widgets to your phone or tablet’s home screen.
Get a quick glance at the current conditions, the 3-day forecast and active alerts for your current location.
You can change the location in the widget from your current location. Go into the app. Tap the search bar at the top of the homescreen. Enter another location and tap the star.
Allow push notifications for the app and you’ll enable critical weather alerts, right when you need them. Then, access the interactive iControl radar map and see where severe weather is headed next.

Freezes up my phone quite a bit after I swipe.up to check an alert it posts. Can't move the loction pin to where I live. For example my town puts the pin in "downtown"... I'm 20 min away. Entirely different weather between us. I don't like having to have my loction GPS on at all times to get an update on the weather where I am, I'd rather move the pin myself.(like on the origial Storm app) and get accurate updates that way.

Old app in 2018 was 4M and worked well. New app is 45M and is slow, unreliable adware. Two half-screen ads to scroll through to get to forecast, plus a persistent ad at the bottom. Most functions are just embedded web pages, so very little value in using this bloatware. It's a shame...the old app was actually really useful but is now disabled.

Anytime I have severe weather in my area, this app doesn't seem to be cooperative. Which really makes this app useless for me. The radar is not accurate at all. The video forecast no longer has closed captions. It freezes and/or crashes. Now, there are ads all over. I just am on the edge of their forecast, so this is the only station that seems to cover this area west of them.

Used to love the app. The radar is great and the inclusivity of many weather widgets like updates from the crew or stories involving the storms are great. BUT, and it's a big but, my app has failed to retrieve the hourly forecast 90% of the time. That's really what I need to know. When will it rain today? No clue because it doesn't say. I've tried on perfect wifi and on 5G data. Neither fix this bug. If it gets fixed I will reevaluate my rating because everything else would make it 5 stars.

Improved and most bugs fixed over the last year or so. But, still a few annoying bugs will test your patience. The worst being the hourly weather graph that will not scroll, only moving one hour per swipe. Tech support promised to fix it years ago and it's still there. The other bug being certain weather alerts are not reliable, i.e. tornado warnings! That bug is what I would consider critical. So, beware, you may need a redundant app for reliability.

I've had an off-again-on-again relationship with this app. It seems to be less glitchy since I last used it. It gives all the pertinent info & is visually laid out nicely (though I would always have the forecast up top as opposed to a radar image or anything else other than warnings). I actually like this version. My only issue--which may seem small to the developer, IDK--is no widget! Gotta have it for convenience! Give me a 2 x 1 or 1 x 1 widget that updates frequently, & it's ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

When it works, it's great. Unfortunately on my Galaxy S10 that is maybe 25% of the time. I never know if the app will actually open or just freeze and not do anything. Closing the app and restarting it doesn't work. Just have to hope it does later or restart my phone. Also the lightning notifications come in regardless of your settings, which is pretty annoying.

The app would be perfect if it didn't glitch regularly, like when you can't hear the volume on the video weather report, even when you click "unmute" and turn up the volume on your phone. It's also frustrating when it keeps giving you lightning updates, even though you turned that notification off. It's also frustrating when you get flash flood warnings for storms that are long gone, like hurricanes that have already moved into the Atlantic. Also, the app fails to open sometimes. Please fix!

Forecasts are inconsistent between hour, day, week and also as compared to the video forecast. The latest update also has errors in screen rotation of video. Some of the current bugs have been ongoing; others were introduced with their latest "upgrade". Very frustratingly, they also ignore all bug reports. The final straw was their recent removal of the 'weather feed' which gave short updates whenever some significant weather event was happening nearby. Just removed it. No explanation.

This was my fav weather app but now it is pretty much useless. When I click on it now, it only pulls up a pic of the WRAL team but stays frozen there. Why does it no longer open? I uninstalled and reinstalled it. It worked one day and has frozen again. Can this be resolved? After numerous times, I'm fed up. I get the alerts across my screen but can't open to see the live Doppler or anything else. Is anyone else experiencing the same issue?

The most important feature, hourly forecast, is impossible to use. Scrolling in general is clunky. It never scrolls smoothly and most times the screen moves instead of the forecast scrolling. Horizontal scrolling limits the view to a few hours. A dedicated hourly page with vertical scrolling would show more info and be easier to use. 90% of the time I use wwatherbug even though the forecast is not as accurate and I prefer wral over any other weather team.

I NEVER get any alerts now. I have everything enabled on my phone and the app, but still never get any alerts. So very disappointed. I started seeing this issue a couple of years ago while having a different phone & carrier service. Hoped it was due to that. Can see now it's an app issue and doesn't seem anyone is fixing the issue. They push this app anytime there is severe weather but it's pretty useless if you don't get the alerts.

Great app, but my phone updated today and now it won't work - I get the spash screen, then a blank screen, then eventually the "app keeps stopping" error message with app info/close app/send feedback as the choices. Can someone look into what needs to be done to make it compatible with the update? Thanks. Now to locate an alternate source of weather info so I can figure out what to wear tomorrow!

I still enjoy this app. The forecasts are very accurate. I especially like the local radar. It's really accurate and on a rainy day I can tell if I have time to walk my dogs before the rain hits my neighborhood. My only complaint is that I can't turn off the lightening strike alerts. They are a loud beep. Pretty annoying, especially if you're sleeping. And the only way to get rid of them is to completely turn the sound off on my phone. Still I highly recommend this app.

really wish it would send me my alerts... especially if I turn off my location - it shuts them all completely off and doesn't even turn them back on if I turn it back on (which costs me 1% battery a minute). this is pretty important, seeing as a hurricane is directly hitting tomorrow and the danger and loss of power is going to be an issue...

I've been using the new app since it rolled out, much improved from the last! I love it. Reliable, easy to find info right from the open screen, amazing radar. I even use the radar when we travel by vehicle to Wisconsin to keep track of storms. It has saved us from getting stuck in a few horrible storms this past summer. Not to mention(and probably most importantly) it's the most accurate of the many weather apps I've tried. Thank you! ❤ eta: it's also "lightening" fast! 😉😂

5/28/2023-as of now, update still will not open 85% of the time. It has made me use other weather apps due to lack of reliability. When it DOES open, does not open in "current location". Orig.post-New update doesn't work properly! I can only get to information after picture page once after reboot of phone. Then app hangs up on picture page and doesn't open!

I got this and the abc11 alarm clock app at the same time and I find myself using this more. Easy interaction and very accurate. 5-8-20 When opening the app about 40% of the time I get a black screen! It takes me several tried before opening which is frustrating especially when you are trying to see important weather information.

Unreliable when needed most, freeze up at times. Low budget app. Expected more from wral as they boast about themselves 70% of the on air time. That dan haggery is an idiot, so emotional with all the hand movements and facial expressions, I know that wasn't necessary, but couldn't resist. Found out it's the worst weather forecast for my area 50% of the time, 17 and 11 are much more accurate and better formatted. Wral isn't all that and they brag about themselves too much.

App still not fixed. ETA: I just got a severe thunderstorm warning notification from the app & I can't see the info because it is stuck on the meteorologists' picture yet again. When I first updated this app, I couldn't get past the meteorologists picture using either the widget or the app. It started working for a while, but it's now getting stuck in the same place again. That's not a good thing for a weather app to do, especially when using it for dangerous weather conditions. Disappointed.
