In 2017 the app had a hard time giving me results. It has improved since then, but still slightly lagging behind the other big app. Currently the 4x1 widget does not work for instant capture. It only opens the app like a shortcut. I am on Lineage 18 with Android 11. I have not yet contacted the dev for this issue. Also, when the app opens and the capture button is tapped, it uses a VERY BRIGHT ORANGE BACKGROUND WHICH IS BLINDING AT NIGHT. Stop that...

I remember getting this back in the day because I liked the interface better than Shazam's. Even though Shazam gets all the credit. For me it got way too cluttered with all the bells & whistles. I tend to dislike clutter in an app. I don't want a digital swiss army knife. It takes the focus away from the core function. But even though this app has grown some "love handles" it's still the better between the two IMO. Thanks dev/devs.

Awesome app! It amazes me at times because it can identify songs with so much ambient noise and even at lower levels of volume. It is pretty fast too. I remember when I first got it and most of my friends were using shazam at the time. I definitely had the best performing app, consistently reliable and quick compared to the others. Best one I've used.

I don't know what they did but the new version of the app has caused the ID function to drop off the deep end significantly. Previously it would be able to ID songs in crowded, noisy places with the song playing somewhat quietly, but now it won't even ID songs in quiet places with the song playing at a decent volume. Functionally useless now.

Russian, Chinese, Mexican, Indian and MUCH more! I'm surprised it identifies foreign music. Even in loud bars, shops and restaurants it'll pick up all but the faintest music. Good job guys, this app works great. EDIT: It seems lately I can't ID more obscure music like most electronic music or instrumental. I've had to start using other ID apps for that. Appears now more geared for mainstream music.

You guys can't be serious with not having an option to turn this always listening bs off right? I don't want you listening to my microphone whenever because I maybe might accidentally say "Hey Soundhound" at some point. I didn't even realize you were doing it until I noticed the info about it in settings. It's super sketchy. I don't think I've ever expected a refund for something I've used so much, but this is absolutely not what I paid for. This needs to be sorted out.

First issue - search fails a often. Next, Okay I get it, ads pay your bills, well, aight, somewhat, but with all the snooping apps and affiliates do why can't you at a minimum show ads that are actually relevant to my soundhound searches?! If you want to up-sell then do it better. And for the love of vinyl and 8 tracks get 70s and 80s lyrics right! There are lots of sites on the Internet that have them. Even a caveman can do it. Anyway, loved this app for years after I replaced Shazam.

Excellent Music ID App. Preface to say I do not need the premium app at all. I only bought it to support the devs for an amazing music app that has rarely let me down. Today it successfully ID'd a gaming type instrumental I did not expect it to, and another song I'd been trying to ID for years, which I'm sure I tried on soundhound before with no luck. So it's only improved with time. UI for paid app seems worse than free app - for instance, anytime I hit back it closes app. Would donate more.

Does a great job most of the time. Lately, tho, the "ID Now" widget only brings up the app, doesn't being the song identification. (Maybe a background service crashed/quit?) Also, manual search feature is lacking: the keyboard type for the input field only has a carriage return and not an 'enter' key, so I'm left with having to tap a suggested result, but if I enter the search again it doesn't show any suggestions. WOMP WOMP.

I click a link from when somebody sends something then it wants to install SoundHound ( with adds) when already have the paid version. ( no adds). I dont understand why it just cant load the one I have installed. I have to install the other or manually search for the song sent. Otherwise, its a great app. Wish the maker's could address this issue.

Disappointed. This app used to be my go-to app to identify music. Originally, it was the best app and could detect faint music through a noisy restaurant. Now, it can barely identify a song in a quiet environment (the songs in question were released for more than six months). I hope the developers can fix the app like it used to be 10 years ago. Android 12, Moto Edge+ 5G.

I really don't know what to say. By the time it gets done "polishing the records and dusting off the shelves," my sound clip pl is usually gone. It used to start searching almost instantly, but now the program seems to take forever to load even with the widget. The ability to find obscure and rare song says turned lackluster. Even songs that used to identify or no longer recognized. What happened?

I've been using this app since July 5, 2013. I know because I just checked my history. I have always suggested and introduced this app to people since then, so the fact that since the last update, I've been having constant issues with it is highly frustrating. It barely makes it in time to recognize a song and if you do catch a song in the beginning it can NOT find it even though the current song may be very popular. So sad to see the quality of the app's service slowly diminish.

I've had this for several years, I got it back when google did the celebration sale. It was a much better app before. Now the app takes much longer to load (often missing the song entirely), and it doesn't even appear in the apps last used section to recall it quickly forcing a restart every time you leave it. I've noticed that it fails to notice songs far more often than it used to as well. I have Shazam pro too and I may have to switch to that as my default music search.

Freezes and crashes alot. It often takes longer to load up than the song lasts. I had an older version which came with a tablet I own, and that worked great. This version is so slow starting up that the song frequently ends before it begins to work. I went back to using another app which has an annoying amount of ads, just because it works quicker. For $5.99 I expect the app to work without issues.

*Sneaky microphone permission* Up until recently, I absolutely loved this app! I used it so much. It did an amazing job with obscure music as well! Now after the update, this app is awful. It doesn't find music as easily. I have it listen over and over, & a lot of times I give up. Even more frustrating, is the sneaky microphone usage now. This app never tried to use my mic unless I was identifying music. Now it constantly tries to listen w/ app closed. Creepy & inappropriate.

This was the greatest apps at 1st. You could use the widget in a hurry or open the app& find the song playing even in a crowded place, until it went from finding many songs to hardly ever workin. Especially songs from Africa or other countries (there's a map in app). Music discovery? Yes, It allows U to save your searches to try later but majority of the time it still doesn't. It's disheartening, such a great app isn't fulfilling it's full potential. If it did I'd pay & 5 star it immediately.

This was a phenomenal app 7 or 8 years ago when I first started using it, but a few updates ago it started logging me out every time I exit the app. The app and widget are both useless if not signed in because it keeps throwing error messages when IDing songs, and by the time I get signed in again the song is usually done. When it works, it's great, the hard part is just getting it to work.

Great for automatically detecting or manually searching for songs, albums, artists, lyrics, and all sorts of info about all of the above. LiveLyrics is an awesome feature that acts like a "karaoke mode", highlighting the current line being sung, as a detected song plays. It used to offer a fullscreen, landscape mode in LiveLyrics. I took off one star, as landscape mode seems to have been replaced with an option to make the text bigger in portrait mode. Bring back landscape get your star back!

What just happened? It appears that you've added a very nice feature to allow users to play their Favorites either in order or shuffled. Well, shuffled doesn't work correctly on my Samsung Galaxy S9. It plays the first song correctly, but then plays about a half-second of all subsequent songs, rendering it completely useless. Please fix immediately, and I'll readjust my ratings back to 5 stars!
