I never rate apps, but I HAD to rate this one. I bought a year as soon as my trial expired. Everything I've been needing is in this app. Recipes that cover multiple days to reduce waste, use up ingredients, and ultimately save money at the grocery store, delicious recipes, the ability to omit recipes that include ingredients you can't/won't eat. My favorite part is the app will send the shopping list to Instacart, automatically filling the cart so I don't have to. Such a time saver and so easy.

This app is AMAZING! My husband and I are both in school, and I am a nutrition practitioner so we love to eat healthy food, but planning the meals and all of that has been a real struggle. We were even waisting food and that was very annoying. So far, this app seems wonderful in so many ways from it's ability to make a shopping list from your planned meals, to the fact that you can look up recipes from the ingredients you have in the house, it's awesome. 😄

It's so useful! I have a couple minor critiques at the moment. My husband and I don't always eat the same things so I would love the option to change specific recipes to one person only. Also, I would love to be able to "check" a recipe off for the week like I can with the grocery list and chose to hide or unhide checked items. Lastly, I my recipes wanted me to buy about 4 kinds of nuts. I'd like to see suggestions to let me buy say 2 kinds instead. Love it and will be subscribing!

I've used platejoy for years. I used to love it but some of these updates have really made my experience frustrating. It will ask for preferences and then completely ignore your choices. For example, selecting that you want fewer recipes for more days and then it gives you a different recipe for each day! The recipe variety has also decreased and the app can be really slow.

So far I really like this app and service. I like the way it combines recipes so I use one ingredient several times in a week. And the recipes have been easy and very tasty! What I don't like: the portion sizes seem a little off (too large) and the calendar can be a bit buggy. There's also no way to schedule a "freezer meal" or leftovers from something else in your calendar. Overall I like it, though. And the customer service has been responsive and felt personal, not like a bot.

Edit: Reinstalled a few days later. Not sure what changed on their end or mine, but it works now. Super smooth and intuitive, and the grocery list feature is fantastic. [Opened the app, got a 404 error for either/both the "Start free trial" and "I have an account" buttons. No other options available. This is not actually an app, apparently. I just signed up for the service though, and I'm excited for it. Just wish I could use an app version instead of the browser....]

I've had a great experience with this app! The food is delicious and easy to cook. I absolutely love the shopping list feature. One thing I would really like is for an actual breakdown of how many grams of food each person should eat. For example, it tells me that I should eat 44% of the food, but we usually use a bit more ingredients than the recipe calls for (ie., Using 2lbs of meat instead of 1.75 lbs). Having an actual weight for the nutrition breakdown would be immensely helpful.

Fabulous food recipes with easy to use directions (and no need to keep scrolling to the top of the recipe to see what the measurements were again! ). It is completely tailored to my preferences and available time for each meal. Plus, you can always add more meals to your lineup just by searching for what you're in the mood for. It will find that item for you and make sure it is in alignment with the particular eating plan you're on. Genius!

I love it. If you want home cooked meals from scratch, this is great. I'd love to see a low cholesterol diet plan! A suggestion would be the ability to send the list to Shipt or other shipping services, not just Instacart. Another issue is trying to keep ingredients fresh. Since you buy in bulk, the greens often don't last long enough when feeding the whole family. Also I'd prefer to be able to mix and match the menu items & to designate favorites easier.

This app is very useful. I love the way we can customize record, diets, calories, seasonal foods, how many meals, etc. But the recipes are a little vague and can be confusing. In each step, it lists the ingredients, but it's not just for that step. It's for the whole thing. So, instead of just using one of 1 tbsp of oil in the step, it says 3, and someone could get confused. Sometimes the list gets me too much stuff and I more than I need. Instacart doesn't work well. I used whole foods.

I've looked for over 3 years for an app that puts control of my diet in an easy and full environment, that's exactly what platejoy has done. i no longer have to search for recipes, make a grocery list, fill in extra meals most meal scheduling apps leave out, only to fail because it's just too much. platejoy's menu plan is so easy, just enter your diet and creat menu. the recipes have been delish. then being able to just send to instacart, game changer. o no longer go to the store to be tempted

I'm back again! I used platejoy for about a year, but when the pandemic hit and shopping became...challenging... I decided to take a break. I tried some meal delivery services, but they are so expensive and repetitive when only cooking for one. So I'm back because I miss the delicious meals, great selections, and ease of not having to do the planning/list making but still having great food that I can cook myself but also takes into account my dietary restrictions.

I've tried other meal planning apps and this is the clear winner! The GOOD: - The food the best if you're a foodie who likes to try new things! - Great dietary filters and portions - healthy recipes - It really has saved me a lot of time and money! - Great ingredient / recipe search The BAD: - Tech could be better (namely with adding my own recipes). It improved recently and now you can add items mid-week. - The algorithm for swapping seems to always give me a lot of the same suggestions.

I'm extremely disappointed since Platejoy was bought out. It used to be simple and straightforward, but has gone downhill. I was a loyal customer and suggested this app to others, but I won't any longer. My custom foods to avoid were removed, and I'm not able to add them back. I can no longer use my (admittedly older) iPad while cooking because the recipe screen is empty. The shopping experience is worse because they removed the ability to quickly look at the recipes while shopping.

Just started using this service, so far I love it. Customized my meal needs for me + my SO and indicated that I'm currently pregnant. Some of the meals were a little too 'fancy' but i just used the swap feature to change it up. We both promised to start eating healthier with a baby on the way, and this makes it easier. I like that I'm able to send my list to Instacart and have everything delivered. It'd be cheaper to do it ourselves, yes, but we find the convenience worth the extra money.

The new update makes previous week's menus totally invisible. You can't add recipes that you like, and you can't view recipes from the shopping list. Batch menu items don't show up if you have other dinners planned. I have a blended family and some nights I make dinner for two and some for 6. The way the app was before I could have batch meals and smaller dinners. Now that meals are scheduled automatically for me during the week, this app is not usable to me. Please have that turned off.

Pros: Variety of dishes & can add your own recipes. Shows ingredients needed per step. Fair number of customize options but could have even more. It's SO helpful to have a menu planned for me & a shopping list. Less food waste, I buy fewer extras, and the calorie goal is great for my weight loss journey. Shopping list shows which recipe it's for. Cons: Serving calories are lower than reality, so must adjust settings. PLEASE increase menu plan option to 7 days so shop day can be the same weekly.

Idk about the non-vegan options, but the vegan options are repetitive, bland, sad and not very nutrient dense. The volume of food that makes up a serving is physically impossible for me to eat in one meal. Even if it was absolutely delicious (it's not) I could not make my self eat it all. Also I have a hard time finding the motivation to cook. I need the end result to feel like was worth the effort I put into making it. Beans and veggies with salt and like one herb isn't going to cut it.

I used Platejoy a few years ago and it was absolutely fabulous. Good variety, tasty recipes and the app was great. I rejoined about a month ago and am really disappointed. I don't know what happened, but it really went downhill - the variety of recipes appears to be gone and the app itself is super glitchy. Items are left off my shopping list and when I have a menu ready and am working through it, the app randomly goes back to meal planning. It's a shame because it was excellent before.

Doesn't have the option to manually load in what is in my refrigerator when generating a meal plan for the week. Searching individual ingredients and looking at recipies to try and use them up is tedious. The options for batch meals and what meals are eaten later doesn't seem to work right. I often end up with too many meals for the week and have to manually remove them. Lastly the app doesn't consider which meals should be saved for later. Some of their suggestions aren't good as leftovers.
