Such a great app not only for tracking my food, but also for finding better options when it comes to some foods. I love that you can scan the barcode on a package (most packages) and get a letter grade and explanation for it's grade (whether it's preservatives, added sugar, etc). And as mentioned, it will offer alternatives to the scanned item so that you might be able to find a similar but healthier option. I do pay for premium now but even before that I found the app immensely helpful shopping

I'm new to using this app, but after having used tracking programs like Noom or WW, I find this app refreshing because it allows the user to adapt tracking for preferred dietary preferences like keto, low carb, vegetarian etc. I like how well rounded and wholesome the tracking system is with the food grading system, calorie tracking, macros, and a points system. I am still using the free version of the app, but will continue to trial the premium version if it continues to work for me.

Good for tracking. If you do not want to pay, then that's pretty much all you'll get plus tips and recipes that honestly arent much different than googling it. If you pay, theres more detailed tracking available. I didn't pay so I have no further info on that. I still think it's a good app to try if you are worried about health issues that a change in diet can help.

My husband is recovering from cardiac surgery and this makes it so easy to interpret labels. While I now shop mostly the outside aisles of the grocery store, there are still some things in the middle of the store we use. Update: I still use the app often but now I am concentrating on hidden sugars and wheat. Love it. I did upgrade to premium but it is a one shot deal, not an annual subscription. On the Android, the one-time purchase was reasonable.

Love the food grades. It's what makes it different from other barcode scanners and food log calorie counters. Doesn't just give you nutritional information that you can read from the label. It actually tells you what all that means with a simple grade and if you tap on the grade it gives you the break down of what's good and bad about the item, which is a free feature! That's what I use it for all the time in grocery store to make better choices.

Edit: 3.16.23 - The newest changes are the worst so far. The app used to let you choose breakfast, lunch, dinner, snack etc First, but now it defaults to Snack after you input what food you had.. that is very annoying. Also, it needs to go back to showing your most recent entries when choosing your food. 2019-I love how this app gives you a grade based on food quality and water consumption. I kind of wish they would stop changing the layout, but overall this has been my favorite nutrition app.

A great app for trying to shop sensibly. Sometimes confusing as to how they decide on a grade, or when there are duplicate items with different grades!! That needs some cleaning up, but on the whole a great app for encouraging you to make good choices and great for tracking your daily intake of calories, salt, fat, carbs etc, etc.

So far, it's a super cool app. I scanned a food that was not in the database so it asked me to take three pictures. Gladly! However, everything was really elongated and blurry. I had to take the picture from at least 12 inches a way for it to be clear. That was fine for the label picture, but there's no way you're reading the ingredients or nutritional facts from that distance.

The best part of the app is the scanner , especially the alternatives it shows. I was able to use it in the store and find better options than what I was scanning. I am a person who likes a lot of details. I like the way the info about the product once you scan is designed, it helps for example if you are focusing more on calories, or on sugar content, or ingredients- it gives the necessary information.

On Android, when you click Contact Us, it gives me options to share content via other apps?? No info on how to contact the Devs about issues. Also, if I scan a barcode that's not in the system, it asks me to take 3 pictures. After I do, I get the same issue as the Contact Us button, with a pop up to share content. So I can only add food by searching for it and clicking add food at the bottom of the screen. Otherwise the app is good. The UI could be cleaned up a bit, but I'm happy with it so far.

Easy to use with great resources. As effective as Weight Watchers. Can count food points or calories, but also get macro- and some micronutrient information. I love that I can look for alternatives to some of my current food choices. I wish there were more in the micronutrient data and if through a week, day you're not getting a lot of potassium or magnesium, it would make a recommendation for a meal or snack to help add to that current deficiency. Overall though, I'm loving the app!

I love this app! It does so much. The only thing I wished it had was the capability to change the serving sizes on items that you consume. (For example:The serving size may be a cup but I might only consume an once, that's difficult to convert) I wish it was more customizable & easy to use but again the info you get from it is the best that I've tried yet. Once you learn how it wants you to use it, it works pretty well.

Great app, great community, does the leg work to sift through lies of dieting and takes the time to explain some of the recent popular diets like intermittent fasting. I was able to quickly count calories by scanning food, or look up healthier alternatives. Since it is a lifestyle change, it can be tough, and I really wish there was a calorie calculator based on ingredients. I have changed how I eat by making more home made food, and it gets tiresome to count the ingredients.

As far as nutrition tracking apps go, this one is pretty good. I'm disappointed that it doesn't put more emphasis on water consumption. You can track it, but it doesn't give any water goals or let you put in how many ounces you've had (it's just one 8oz glass at a time). Otherwise I appreciate the food ratings, the ability to track added sugar, and the recommendations to try to consume more unprocessed foods. Over all, a good app with one major flaw when it comes to water.

Scanner does not work. Downloaded 5 times. Tried several stores and at home. Very disappointed. Customer service does not work either. I had several email exchanges explaining and re-explaining the problem. I was asked to send screenshots which I did. The final response was that I do have a problem and tech would have to work on that. Needless to say I contacted the Diabetes counselor who recommend the app in her class. She will no longer encourage the use of the app. Wish I could choose zero stars.

8/13/23: Still having "network problem...000033"! 8/11/23: As others have stated, app "fails to connect to the network." Update 3/16/23: The update makes food diary entry a hassle. Now you have to select the meal with EACH selection, or it defaults to "snack.". If you forget, you have to delete the item and re-enter it. Major hassle. Original Review 2014: I found this app with an excellent diary. It's got a HUGE food database. I can track carbs, points, calories, and more. Lost 73 pounds!

Great app with information that's very useful about every day products. Unfortunately in terms of reliability is really lacking. I'm having to scan the same item more than twice to get the actual information of a product and sometimes I even have to enter the product by name since it will keep reading the wrong bar number. When at the grocery store, that leaves a lot to be desired.

I m pretty upset that I paid for premium features. Looks like I paid 20 dollars for a year of the grading of the food to be tailored towards vegan...that's it. The app provides no weight tracking graphs that I can find no month to date data that I can find...if you are looking for a standard food diary this is fine It gives you a calorie and point plan and grades the food which can be helpful as a visual reminder. If you need better month over month data cronometer is better

The Fooducate app makes shopping so much easier. There's so many buzzwords on food and nutrition labels that can be confusing with various portion sizes and everything claiming to be the best ever. I use the app to shop smarter and help make choices easier in the store so tracking is easier after I get home. I found it on Google while trying to determine the health of a cauliflower crust pizza. Iabsolutely love it and will continue to use it to simplify my life and myriad of choices

I wish it didn't try to sign me in every time. I'm always trying to find what is healthiest, but it's always "oops something went wrong" on the sign in page. Sometimes it lags and brings me back to the login page after I scanned something. Then it prevents you from automatically signing in once it's failed. It's annoying. Pleaseeeee make it so you don't have to log in or something.
