Even though this app is better than the awful Zinio PC program, that isn't saying much. Magazines randomly fail when downloading, locking the app in an endless "queued" status, forcing you to reset the whole thing. Even when downloaded, magazines occasionally give you an error about connecting and refuse to display at all. All magazines are stored in your internal storage, with no auto-cleanup options. Page loading even in text mode is ridiculously slow. Whoever writes Zinio's apps (esp. the current PC version, which is even worse than this) should be fired.

Store is great with wide variety of mags but app is a mess and has been ever since they introduced updated version a year or so ago. App is full of bugs, is unstable (especially if trying to read offline), and can be hit and miss with downloads and opening mags requiring reboots which makes for inconsistent and frustrating experience. Updated: Increased rating as for most part issues have been resolved. Still has some random crashes especially when offline but generally pretty stable now.

Great app and concept with one minor but very important aspect having been overlooked (at least for Samsung Android devices), that is, the possibility of keeping the downloads in an external memory card rather than in the tablets main memory. This means you have to be deleting magazines from the app all the time. Could you have a look into this? Thanks!

Stupid design with respect to device limit. I'm OK with a 5 device limit. If you reach that limit and say you're at work with a new computer and you didn't clear the old one from the list before turning it in, then log into the new one, Zinio won't let you get to your device list with the new one in order to remove a device to make room for the new one. It denied you even the admin functions. Gotta use an already provisioned device to do that. You're just SOL if you don't have one with you.

Keeps draining the battery when it is own. Phone becomes very warm. After you switch it off, the problem continues, can almost see my battery percentage drop. Only by shutting down the phone and restarting can the problem be fixed.

Overall my experience with zinio has been very good but I have run into a problem with purchases thru the app downloaded from google play store. The subscriptions I purchased do not show up under subscriptions in google play So therefore I can't manage them. Help topics I researched send me around in circles. I think it would be an easy fix if I ask the right question or speak with an actual person. I have such a bad taste in my mouth that I will never buy another subscription from zinio.

I have been using Zinio for quite awhile now. Magazines downloads are high quality. No problem there. The reason I am leaving Zinio is the constant barrage of offers and sales notifications. If you want to be notified when a magazine is ready for download you also get their marketing notifications. It's constant and there is no way to opt out from them.

I loved this app until recently it worked great. Now I keep getting this "unexpected error try again later" this has been going on for over 2 wks now. I sent support an email over a wk ago & still no Response & it looks like googling it, it's a big issue. Update, Support worked with me to fix the issue. But I did have to remove & re-download the Mags I had. 6 yrs worth. So one star off for that.

Has a bug somewhere. It's telling me that I've reached my limit of 5 devices and that I need to log out on one before I can open on another. I've only got my Android and my notebook with the app installed. Y'all beed to get this straightened out. I never had a problem til I started adding content. Now that I have a subscription or two it starts malfunctioning. That's typical. So I get a response saying to reply with more detailed information about the issue. I've got two devices, not 5.

Ony gets 3 stars, because app has not the option to delete magazines. I have magazines from 2016 that are still in "my library" I have repeatedly requested for a delete option. Have yet to have this option. Pressreader app allows for deletions. Even Google mail allows for deletions, but not this app. You are stuck with having old magazines clutter your library. That is my only complaint.

App has gotten worse after the enforced upgrade. Reading space is less-efficiently used, with tons of wasted screen space. Why do the page thumbnails cover part of the reading area when there's all this blank unused screen?? No more dark mode, it's BRIGHT WHITE ALL THE TIME. No option to start in your library page, they make sure you land on the shopping page just to annoy you. Here's a clue Zinio: 99% of my usage profile is reading something I own, not shopping. The extra step is unnecessary.

Absolutely phenomenal customer support. The responsiveness and willingness to make things right is amazing and so refreshing. The app itself is beautifully designed and easy to navigate. It is the most elegant app for reading magazines I've come across. They also have significant sales every single week. I have been using Zinio for four years now and can't recommend it enough!

The app completely stopped working on my Galaxy S10 phone. Support sent me an email and I've tried everything suggested to make it work again (all to no avail) . I will consider changing my review when I can access my magazines on my phone again. EDIT - 4/18/22 - I have been able to use the app again for some time but I am constantly plagued by issues that require me to logout and log back in to fix. This causes the downloaded magazines to be deleted and then you have to re-download. 1 star...

2021/04: Sadly whole business is dragged down by bad App! (2013)Good contents but needs these to be a real good reader 1. Left right swipe for text mode 2. Copy selected text for search/dictionary 3. Performance! performance! performance! -- can hardly even navigate through the magazine library 4. New customized catelogue or collection or *favorite* 5. Multiple download....single slow motion download is really a pain in the neck using zinio.... 6. Storage to alternative external SD card

Update: 08/29/21 Using the Android app on a Chromebook Duet. Couldn't download current issues. Tried uninstalling and reinstalling. Now I've lost my entire library and it won't sync. Update: the bug fix finally came through and my library is restored. Now the joy of re-downloading ALL of my magazines! So much fun.

I have been experiencing performance issues over the last year or so. App would freeze, pages would not load, download would just disappear. But now they are using app notifications that mimic messages or other traditional notifications. It is absolutely irritating. I can't count the number of times that I look down to see a bell or chat box thinking I missed an important thing, only to see its zinio. THAT is why I am uninstalling.

Terrible! You cannot access downloaded content. The app endlessly churns FOREVER while it syncs. You can't even delete content because you have no access. And god forbid you should minimize the app when you go back to it the process starts all over again! This is only good for light readers with few magazines. UPDATE: They have done nothing to fix the problem.

Almost unusable. My subscriptions expired, but I never received an email informing me about that. When I ran the app it never notified me about expired subscriptions. When I tried to open a magazine, it simply wouldn't open - no error message, just eternal spinning waiting icons. I only realized what the problem was when I was able to open older issues but not newer ones. I tried to purchase a new subscription, but wasn't able to find any way to accomplish the task - I could only find an option to buy an individual issue, which was NOT what I wanted. I've had it with this really crappy app. I'm switching to Readly.

Zinio is a nice idea, but the execution is terrible. If you have fast wi-fi, the app hangs for several minutes when starting up, and when switching from one magazine to another, but when off-line, the app does not work at all. The magazine selection is very limited. The reading experience is poor, as the text is to hard to read in page view, and when zooming in, it is hard to scroll around and easy to get disoriented. Nothing has improved since the app was first created, so it will be surpassed.

Devs: How about a CAST TO SCREEN feature?! .... Thankfully there's the browser/web interface because there's STILL NO LINUX SUPPORT. Otherwise, I would like to use this on my laptop while offline. In the meantime, it's much too small to use regularly on my 6" phone or 10" tablet, but it does work flawlessly. It just takes up way too much space, and searching through my issues stinks. I just use the app to check out a detail or two, but I do my real reading on the laptop (also in too small print).
