It's a great app but will soft block you, I say this because I'm trying to get past the basics course. Well I can't get all of the stars required to move on, unless I pay for it. But, it's 1 song getting in my way. Plus you can play the songs that are subscription only in the beginning areas of the basics. But you got soft blocked during the chords 1 section. I get the subscription for everything else but the basics. Like how am I gonna do the challenges when I haven't finished the basics yet?

I tried the free trial, and it seemed to be a great and easy to use app, I just dont have enough time for it. So when I didn't cancel in time, of course they withdrew the money from my account. But all I had too do was contact customer service and they said my plan as been cancelled and they will refund my money into my account. It was easy and they responded fast. I would definitely highly recommend, I really wish I just had more time.

It was great, until I hit the paywall. I loved that you were taught parts of songs you might know, it's been a proven great way to learn. However I got down about 3 fret movements and some timing practice. (About an hour or so of teaching before hitting the $12+ dollars a month) While on the cheaper side, I (and probably many others) can not afford it. Especially if the instrument was a gift in the first place

Great app. The teaching style works perfect for me personally. There are TONS of songs to play along with. **Update** After using the app for 6 weeks I still really like the program however I'm growing really frustrated with some of the songs and the singing / lyrics drowning out the guitar sound. You have an option to mute all music but that's it. I'd like to still hear the beat and all of the other music not the unnecessary lyrics.

Love the app, have been using it nearly daily to learn bass. I'm surprised how well it works with the microphone, though my preference is to use it on my computer with an audio interface, but the fact they offer both is amazing. It's not perfect, I wish they had dedicated scales, arpeggio, and dexterity lessons and exercises. I love being able to show the sheet music but wish they also offered a music reading track in the lessons. All and all youcisian makes learning a new instrument fun.

Love this app. I've picked up my guitar to learn so many times over the years. Via books, websites and sometimes holding my breath and just jumping straight into chord charts. Within 3 days of learning with Yousician, I've honestly gotten farther, have better finger placement already, and truly increased motivation to continue to pick up the guitar and "keep up this exciting learning" instead of my usual "keep slogging away at it, maybe you'll get it".

I had given this app 5 stars at one point. But had to demote it. The program it self is a great way to learn guitar. The app is a technical mess however. Some songs are completely out of sync. And lately when I click on certain songs I get kicked backto the menu. I've been a loyal customer and advocate for yousician for about two years. But if these bugs don't get worked out I'm going have to pursue more traditional means of learning guitar. Fix you app gang.

It's a decent app with so much potential, but there are some major problems. The lessons start great, but they just seem rushed later on. Please allow for the option to remove vocals. When I slow down a song to learn it, I'm thrown off by what sounds like a drunk sloth singing along and most of the vocalsalists on here are just not my style. Im also focusing on playing fingerstyle, but there's no way to search for songs that are fingerstyle.

I have been enjoying yousician for a while now and bought the family plan. This new design is pretty cool except that the removed old features completely, so it actually sucks really bad. They took away the restart button. I have no idea how to play again from the beginning. And you can no longer chose the tempo while paused. I also don't see any easy way to navigate within the song or partition off the song. But the listen feature and the play at you own pace feature are cool.

Used to love the app, practised daily! Since recent update, there is no way to turn off learn new on start of app. Pushing to further train to next level chords while i can't play previous chords properly. I didnt go ahead as i was selectively practising chords to get better with the help of your app. Either adjust your learn feature to stay in same level till they completely graduate that or create a flag in settings which can turn off the learn feature.

This app is great at teaching guitar, however it's ability to detect chords is dogshit, and when I get one "wrong", it just says dead note wrong note, or nothing, and it's stupid difficult to time the chords, I kid you not, Full rhythm and lead One by Metallica is easier and more fun than level three cowboy chords, worst of all you have to do them to go up in level, which doesn't even do anything Edit: Don't play plugged in, there is no way to calibrate the audio when your guitar is instant

I'm giving it 3 stars only because of the free trial. It's a good app, yes, and it has nice lessons. But it's ridiculous. 1. The tutorial and learning steps should be free. 2. Give us more free songs to do. I can't even play other chords to work with my fingers cause it's covered by a paywall of $140 a month. 3. The pay is ridiculous to me, and I'm just beginning guitar. Most of us can't even afford that, I'm sure. I'm almost 20, and I can't get that!

After doing the free part where they give you the very basics, I thought that this would show me how to do things like how to hold a guitar the right way, or how to use your fingers on the strings or how to properly pluck the strings. But all I got when I spent 100 bucks was just some bad songs that I end up having to repeat for 3 hours on slow mode on practice just because I can't get my fingers on the strings in time because you get no time or teaching on how to get to strings quick enough.

Good app, good songs but 10$ A month is something you can't just walk away from, and if you don't want to pay for the subscription then Get out! Because every freakin song is on a subscription and only a few riffs from songs are available so you can't even play the full songs. Good for learning guitar and getting into it but nothing else.

Here to edit my review. After over a year of Trying to practice, I've found the app has no sequential order for practice and Forces you into arguably advanced songs for your skill level. Secondly, the "learn" routines leave no room for errors and the speed at which it Forces is detrimental to practice. I've found myself so aggravated I've lost all interest in continuing, have canceled my membership, going to YouTube for most of my lessons. Lastly, the lack of preparation for practices hurts.

Just not really worth it in my opinion. The lessons I have Access to are fine for early beginners but the majority of content is locked behind a paywall, as far as I can tell this included any lessons past the "basics course", every song I found, and any additional content. This wouldn't be so bad if I felt the cost of a subscription was reasonable but I don't. I would understand locking copyrighted songs and additional content to non-subscribers but it isn't worth it for content I won't use.

This app is very aggravating. The tuning is very condescending. It will force stop a sing if you miss too many notes. Why wouldnt there be a setting to just have the app pause at the next note until its hit? I'm so glad all the new music is Nirvana, and Muse. Would be a REAL SHAME, for anything outside of the super mainstream. As a beginner its very discouraging when thr app assumes I'm having audio issues when I just can't play well. There should be more control over prompts (hit my word lim

two stars because the Yousician app crashed 1 minute into a song, possibly due to my terrible singing but definitely due to technicalities that was immediately followed by a prompt request to give a starred review of said app. i thought to myself "dont mind if I do!......" i thought the overall timing to irony ratio was spot-on, hilarious! nevertheless, still a 2 star moment.

Very useful and helpful, definitely recommend. 5/5 stars for sure! Love how it helps take you through everything step by step, tutorials on practicing AND let's you go the speed that you need/want! All though I do kind of get tired after needing to hit skip on the sound thing before every lesson lol but it does help the app hear better and make sure you can hear as well! But if I was able to give you 10 stars I definitely would.

As free, it's lackluster. There's only 3 or so free, brief lessons before you have to pay. I understand maybe they have to pay for licenses to all the music, but my goodness, like there's not enough expensive subscriptions everyone already has. If it were less, sign me up! For everyone who's having issues with the speaker not picking up your guitar sound, the only way I got it to work was with an amp. Otherwise, it never picked up sound successfully.
