I previously worked for a Unified Messaging company that sold into large carrier networks, so I've seen the good, the bad, and the ugly. I've also been a YouMail user for over 6 years. This app is much better than good, with a solid set of features including voicemail-to-text transcription, emails with both the transcription and the original audio file, personalized greetings for specific callers, personal black lists (useful for stalkers and crazy exes), and a robust spam/robocall blocker.

Honestly, I'm back using this app again because it has the least amount of issues-not because it's a great app. My husband (with his own phones) and I have been back and forth with this one for years. We'll see how it works with Straight Talk on a Samsung Note8. Update 10.2019- Hasn't been working since the spring. Another update (next day) - Decided to try again and it finally worked. Problem was always in the activation process: one or more of the 3 proc kept getting MMI code error.

Update: What the heck! Youre blocking all my inbound calls. Installed the lastest update, which was supposed to fix the problem, but it's not fixed! 3 days now! With kids + aging parents, I can't afford to not receive calls and have no record of a missed call unless the caller leaves a message. After all these years (7+) of loving this app, uninstalling! Love that I can keep, but not have to re-listen to saved messages every time. Haven't been able to sync my contacts successfully yet.

I have been using the app for a few years now and I love it! The voicemail uses people names when leaving msgs..it's a cool feature! Also, the ability to block spammers is an amazing benefit; decreased marketing/sales calls. The voice to text is extremely accurate therefore, I don't always have to listen to the voicemail. In fact I rarely listen to voicemails. I run a business so this feature saves me time. In my opinion & experience this is an app that I highly recommend. 5 stars! Cheers!

I have had this app since 2018 and it worked great. Loved all the personalization and even referred friends and family. It stopped working about 2 weeks ago and I have tried rebooting my phone n the app to no avail. Reading other comments I see it has something to do with Tmobile. There was never an issue before this. Very very frustrating and annoying. I was wondering why I was not getting any voicemails anymore.

Beyond expectations! I have used YouMail for many years. The service is excellent and the support is exceptional. The functionality of the app is way beyond what I found anywhere else and the customer support is even better than that! Just try it! June 26th - Tech support just helped me out with a minor issue receiving my emails notifications. Once again, a couple of minutes and I was good to go again.

There should be more free features on the app. It lost the forwarding another account and can only do 20 visiual text on voice mails a month. I have a fixed budget and don't have extra cash to spend. I like the app and it has helped with the annoying phone calls. But from time to time the phone calls get through. The Voicemail box is saying from the messges, it is full and you are price and money gouging for people to buy more memory for the Voicemail.

this is the best visual voicemail app I have ever had it works with any service or phone that I've ever had in the past including the one today. it works perfectly. I have a TracFone service through AT&t one issue I did notice the TracFone does not give their customers the right APN settings for their TracFone account. you would have thought they'd fix that by now but they didn't. if you have TracFone and this app does not work properly that's because your APN settings has missing information .

The YouMail service is top notch, but this app often fails to notify me when a new message has been left. The app does well at letting me organize my voicemails. The Call Blocking features need MUCH improvement. I've had to disable this feature due to too many legitimate calls being blocked, even after I mark these calls as "Safe". Evidently there is a way to "white list" numbers by logging into your account on the YouMail website; but this is NOT available from the app, which is unacceptable.

Better than the T-Mobile app. The T-Mobile VM was always unable to connect to the server, plus, visual voicemail was an extra cost. On top of that, their spam blocking sucked. No! I don't need a warranty and my student loans don't need refinanced! This gave the best of all. I highly recommend it to anyone who is tired of the forced VM their provider gives them.

I have been using YouMail for about 8 years and have had nothing but satisfaction throughout. Although Verizon now offers visual voice-mail for free, I stick with what I know and an app that I trust. UPDATE 9/23/19: I no longer trust this app. I am always getting delayed notifications on voicemail. The latest was delayed by 6 days! UPDATE 2/27/20: The issue with delayed notifications is gone. The Call Protection feature added in the past couple years is excellent. Thumbs up!

After multiple updates, this app still has a couple irritating flaws. For one, I still get notifications that I've received messages long after I've opened the app to view them. Worst of all, every single time I go to listen to a message, at the earpiece, the app stops the voicemail once the screen shuts off. So I have to listen to every voicemail on speaker. 2/8/20 update: Much better now.

When it worked, it worked great. This may be more an issue with T-mobile than YouMail. I was with Sprint and it worked just fine, after the merger, we had some issues. After getting T-mobile SIMS, terrible, almost never worked. Now I cannot get VM at all, with any app or even standard VM. I have spent HOURS with T-mobile tech support over 2 days, and still nothing. If you have T-mobile, stay away.

Been using this app since my Blackberry Bold and always liked it. Quit using when I got my S7 because it wasn't working properly but decided to try again and it works but has a really dumb bug. Whenever I play a voice-mail on speaker and don't change it back, all my system sounds come out of the earpiece... Other than that, people always freak out when they get my voice-mail and hear their name 😉 so it's pretty cool. Edit: these problems have been fixed by now

The talk-to-text software is decent; I usually can interpret the text well enough to translate it into useful information. Obviously, we aren't getting NSA-grade surveillance technology. There is one very poor design feature. Every time I check the app, an obnoxious, unnecessary and audible alert notification that blocking is active clogs my feed, but cannot be disabled without turning off all notifications, which would mean I wouldn't be alerted to a new message- POOR design element there.

Loving this app!! I only have the free version, and it's already kept spam voicemail out of my inbox!! I also love that I can leave a personalized greeting specifically for a certain person in addition to my regular voicemail message!! Also, it transcribes your voicemail so I can just read it instead of having to try and listen to it when I'm in a noisy room, or around a bunch of people!

UPDATE: The carrier is NOT dropping the call forwarding and I never roam. I have been using the same carrier for 4 years, AND signed up for youmail at the same time when I switched carriers! This just started happening a few months ago. I'm done. Keeps deactivating! No telling how many voicemails I've missed. This has happened twice, when I realize no one has left a voicemail for over a month, go into the setting and it's deactivated. I keep reactivating it and the same thing continues.

I've been back and forth with this app for years. Years on, years off. I'm ready to delete it again and cancel my subscription. It doesn't work properly. I'm not getting notifications of new voicemail or the bubble that shows when I have some. I've missed very very important time sensitive calls from this. When I try to listen to the messages I just get an error. Or it shows it's playing but I can't hear it anywhere until it's played almost entirely so I have to rewind & waste my time.

Free version is very meh. Transcript can be helpful but 90% of the time have to just listen to the voicemail anyways. What's a little more annoying is i tried out premium and paid for a year subscription. Decided to cancel since it was alright and lost all my benefits after 2 months instead of just canceling the renewal or giving a refund.

It's a fine app. I would be happy to pay a one time cost to upgrade to premium, but asking for a subscription for a voicemail service is ridiculous. Especially charging what they do: $70+ or $140+ per year depending on plan. I am so tired of everything being a subscription. They want over a hundred dollars a year to store a few dozen voicemails for me? Yeah sure, it stores up to 1k, but it would take me years to get that many voicemails, yet the cost is the same regardless. So frustrating.
