I like Yahoo news EXCEPT for the notifications I receive that contain the movie camera icon as the initial character. The background music is distracting and overwhelming even when one's volume setting is low to medium. The information passes too quickly as well and I'm NOT a slow reader. Actually when I see the camera icon on the notification. I now delete and choose CNN, HuffPost, WAPO, NYT, or other sites.

This is potentially a great app to accumulate & present potentially interesting articles. Unfortunately, there is an overwhelming amount of articles with liberal slants. I'd like the ability to thumbs down sources or themes that I deem biased or garbage authors. For the developers, I don't necessarily want to add additional news sources, but I would just like some capability to filter out some of the noise.

A decent app that actually autohides the top navigation bar! Unfortunately it doesn't autohide the bottom bar, and even worse is the "Next" bar at the bottom of every single news story, completely unnecessary and should at the very minimum autohide. Still, it's a solid news app and has less obtrusive advertising than many other Android news apps.

It has a variety of news sources, and the app is easy to use. However that is about it. I wish I could choose what news sources to view, so that I dont have to waste time passint over certain less relevant news sources, such as the Huffington Post. Also, more filter options would be a huge help. here's an idea. by adding a favorites tab, or an up down button. The buttom, and favorites tab combined would allow each user to customize news that is relevant to their life, and interests.

Been using this for awhile. Some minor adjustments can be made. When I click on a story I have to click continue to see the story I already clicked on once to read. There are other things but, that is my main problem so far. 4 stars is decent. I'm downgrading to 3 stars now because b order to respond or give a thumbs up/down you have to sign in. Before you could just submit a reply or use the thumbs up anytime . It's just a hassle now. Wish you could go back to the way it used to be.

There are plenty of news sources within this app and it is updated. Good. It is also a clean design. The bad part is notifications and navigation are poorly designed. When I get a notification about a vote or reply on my comment, I clicking on the notification does not bring me to my comment. I also can't navigate to my profile's reactions/activity section without clicking and searching around several times in order to find it. Annoying. Also to Trump-heads: Shut up. The news is not "biased".

Last update does not have auto rotate. Can't use on tablet without holding head sideways. Tablet stand only works on side with volume/power buttons on top. Same problem when viewed on TV. Been using yahoo for 25 years, now not so much. Some brainiac thought it wasn't necessary or just to lazy or both. If I could give it no stars at all, I would have. Total garbage now.

Not perfect but pretty good. It's not the most versatile app, but it works fine. I like that there are few "opinion" articles and most of the articles come from credible news organizations. My only complaint is that the app resets after I leave an article and I have to start over from the top and try to find my place... Every time! Which means eventually I give up and go to a different app.

Sensational headlines, spun stories that are one sided, a strong bias toward the left (that's where I stand), and speculation on the future based on worst case scenarios. Irresponsible reporting, especially at this time. Sensationalized headlines, anecdotal stories, little provable facts. "Experts say" without scientific proof. Very poor biased journalism.

If I could choose my own news sources, I would give it a higher rating. It has the potential of being a good news app. However, only providing a few news sources to choose from makes it not very useful to me. Also, I would like to turn off any option to watch videos. I don't want to watch videos. The never play video option doesn't work. I just want to read the news.

This is a pretty great app. The knock I have is the main board sometimes contains clickbait/sensationistic article thumbnails. But the other content is presented fine, and is usually pretty relevant to the type of news I want to see. There are some ads, but they aren't too distracting/disruptive. Keep up the good work and please keep this app from becoming bogged down with stuff I dont want to see. Great Job!

Why is it that you folks can't have a story on just one page? Instead, I'm reading a story, and I get to a point and it says NEXT. What's up with that? So I read down to another point and it says NEXT again! Sometimes this goes on for 15 pages! The reason why? Too many adds in your content! Adds equal viruses that can get infected into my devices. So, either drop the adds, or I'll drop you.

So-so app. Gripes: 1. To get back to headlines, have to swipe to top of the article first. In contrast, Google News (which I'm not plugging here) has an always-visible back arrow to return to headlines. 2. 'Never Autoplay videos' (setting) doesn't stop videos from auto-playing. 3. Can't turn notification sound off. Beyond these design issues, the news offering itself is reasonably comprehensive.

Update: Still one of the worst apps out there. Ridiculously difficult to use. It's a giant pain to try to read articles that you can't just click on and get the whole story. I have no interest in repeatedly trying to figure out how to swipe and repeatedly click to get the story and then have it go back to the beginning half a dozen times. It's obnoxious and pointless. Update: it just gets worse over time... I swear Yahoo, just wants people to quit using it.

News notices do not link to article instead you must look through all articles to find recent notice. Additionally, advertisers are inserted in between each paragraph and the advertisements are 3X longer that each arrival page which is horrible. Moreover, articles written by other news sources do not allow you to comment but they are shown on Yahoo news alert. Really poor application.

Not a very good news app 1. Can't create custom sections 2. Lots of ads made to look like news articles and I find that deceptive. They should be different font and design. 3. Should be option to display condensed thumbnail for each story, pictures are too big and that leads to a LOT of unnecessary scrolling. 4. No dark mode 5. NO WIDGET. that's a big strike. 6. Sometimes articles are way too short. Overall I'm disappointed

It seemed to be working fine for three days until the app changed its format to black. My added feeds have once again disappeared. I followed BR's instructions on how to fix it, and it didn't resolve the issue. Help! I'm about done with the Yahoo News app entirely! Everytime the app logs me out, it deletes ALL of my added feeds (like Tech, Opinion, Weather, Celebrity, etc.). It's so frustrating to have to add them back every single time I log back into the app.

The news reports in the app all have a major bias one way or another. It's frustrating. Functionally it works fine, never had a crash, never had an overly annoying ad. Edit: Dropping a star (4 to 3) because the bias seems to be increasingly obvious, I have to fact check multiple articles elsewhere before I form an educated opinion on anything political. For general news, it's typically fine.

News feed works fine. You can customize it to show areas of interest. It has the frustrating habit of sending a push notification with a really interesting headline, but when you open the alert, that news story is not shown. Not even if you scroll all the way down. Half the time it won't even bring up the missing story if you search for the exact title from the push notification. That gets old fast. Also, too many ads mixed in with real news. At least they are now marked as ads.

Trying to read the articles in this app can be challenging. They have advertisements and stuff all over the place. There is a strip across the bottom and if you're scrolling up and you happen to touch that it is going to flip to another article. The content of the articles are very good but trying to get that information with all the bloat/advertising you have in there makes it very frustrating.
