Very suspicious. Why does it keep asking me to allow it to use microphone recording? Why would a news app need to record anything in the background

I couldn't open the updated app from Play Store with my Huawei Nova 3i. I can open the previous app before the new update. I uninstalled and installed it on Huawei App Gallery. It works now.

As well-designed/executed as most other "news-apps" on the market. I suspect the "one star" reviews stem from certain (foreign) political elements that have an interest in degrading anything that enjoys the support of China's central gov't.

Disturbing. keeps on popping up mentioning failed to access. If once or twice it's fine but not every minute.

The app fails to open and keeps crashing every time I attempt to open it. Hopefully the issue can be rectified soon.

As a Canadian in Spain I like to read many perspectives... And of course no single news source is free of bias. But that's fine. By surveying many I believe I can create a balanced view for myself.

App stopped working with July update. I even uninstalled and reinstalled. It still won't open. Otherwise, great app to gain neutral news around the world. Better world news (much less biased) than world news from US sources

I really like the app. But as others have suggested. I would like a link to the Chinese article as well. Sometimes I want to share the story on WeiXin, but my friends can only read Chinese.

it is great to have news from a Chinese perspective on my mobile. There is an excellent dark mode. I hope I do not ask too much, but I would like to be able to view the Chinese article side-by-side with English translation, for those of us who are learning Chinese!

Good news source, but my main interest lies in push notifications, as I don't have the time to check every single one of my 20+ news apps. The push notifications on Xinhua do not seem to work outside of the app, meaning they pop up when you're already in the app, but they don't show up on your lockscreen, for instance.
