Great fun. UPDATE: Changes are for the worse. The flags of the world were a very nice touch. There used to be a sound that served as cue for a new game that was practical. Who cares about coins, etc. it's all fluff. They took a template and implemented in this once unique game. Can't customize color schemes. Going from 5 to 3 stars.

Ruined a great game. The old game was super smooth with no gaps between letters so you could go really fast. Now the letters have gaps between and it is slow and tedious to get it to 'take' a word. The effects make it hard to see your word. Your score is tiny and hard to see while playing and after. Levels are irritating and unnecessary.

Update: 11/27/18 I've been playing Wordament for years. Understand why developers wanted to freshen the look and add features, but: Where are the country flags for each player? That was really a nice touch in the original game and made me feel like part of an international community. On my mid-range Android phone, word swipes don't appear to register as faithfully as with the original version. I'd go back to "Classic" Wordament if that were an option... Snappier performance, more satisfying experience. This is a great, great word game, but I don't feel that the new look is an improvement. -------- Wordament will not install on my Samsung Galaxy S4 SGH-i337 with Android 5.01. Error message on every attempt. Love the game, but now can only play on my Windows tablet.

I've played the game 10s of thousands of times, so I guess I'm hooked. My latest issue is that the countdown timer on Android stopped working. It gets to zero and then the game just keeps going, so you effectively can't play the game, since it never ends. Update -since this is still broken, I finally decided to uninstall the app. I'm disappointed that such a problem was never acknowledged or addressed.

Love playing this in windows, thought I'd finally get to try this out with an actual touch screen. Instead, the app complains about being unable to connect, despite every other function of my phone being totally uninhibited in this regard. Rebooting and reinstalling had no effect. EDIT: a couple years later, now it looks like online play is totally gone. That was literally the ONLY gameplay mode when in fell in love with the game. Totally dead to me now.

Uninstalling after years of great word hunting. This is awful. Have been playing this game for years. Loved it before, hate it now. It's no longer for anyone who is truly into real word games. It's now for children. It's always been about the words and the competition with others. Now it's just a boring mess. Words don't completely register, annoying pop ups, ads that make it look cheap, rediculous new game play features - all junk. Not fun, not challenging, not well thought through. It's heartbreaking so I won't be playing anymore.

The single player mode is mind numbingly boring. I would have been fine with it if they hadn't messed with the multiplayer mode. Now the touch is unresponsive and my words constantly fail to register. UI is absolutely terrible and even after turning off all the clutter that I was allowed the game is unplayable. The touch is unresponsive. I can't tell if a word is wrong or repeated anymore. I didn't know it was possible to downgrade a game this much. DID I MENTION TOUCH IS UNRESPONSIVE? What's the point of garbage new features if it makes the core gameplay a clunky, unresponsive, jarring mess?

NOTE: The update worked - boy, that took a while, but it is finally fixed. Thanks. *** Recently am having to Uninstall then reinstall the app multiple times - there seems to be a bug when syncing with the cloud. Multiplayer has been inaccessible for days even after multiple reinstallations. Most of all, there is very difficult to find any information about what is going on. I figured I might as well post it here, just to let others know.

Oh wow. This major revision is... Awful. In every way. Runs very sluggishly, feels like a manipulative casino game with all psychological "reward" animations and sounds, the single player mode is bizarre and contrived, and the rest of the UI elements just look bad, including the shrunken ads that take up more screen space. There's nothing I like about this version over the original. Uninstalled.

Since the app was updated the ads became extremely invasive, annoying and a lot more frequent than normal. The only reason it gets 2 starts is because it's a fun game, but the excessive and annoying ads has degraded the experience dramatically. If you need a way to work around the ads, just turn on airplane mode and enjoy an ad-free experience.

The update is huge. the game is fun and challenging. Those 15-30 second video ads though, terrible. I choose not to play sometimes because I know I'll have to watch one of those stupid ads. When I do play, if one of those ads pops up immediately before I even get to do anything, I just close the app. It's not worth playing with ads like that, and no way to turn them off. Disappointing considering how much obvious work was put into overhauling the game.

The new version of Wordament has a lot more bells and whistles in total, but is missing some of the fun bits like flags showing countries players are from. And the performance is awful. It sucks battery life like never before, there's a lag when swiping words - which is incredibly frustrating for a timed game - and every timed game has at least a two second lag where no play happens at the beginning, but you lose time to play words. Many of the best players have left, leaving much less competition. It's fine to add and change things in the apps, but to screw up the main game as badly as has been done is inexcusable. Please fix or bring back the original tinted multiplayer version.

This was a 5 star so for a long time, but the new ads are super deceptive. Going as far as to require you clock to close them 3 times, with a minimum 15 seconds in between, and at least one of the close buttons is a fake and sends you too the play store for the advertised app. I hate to review bomb, but there's no option in app to report this. Been playing for years but I can't deal with this so I'm out.

Fun game. But their change in ads to where there's a demo of another game, then a chance to install, then another chance to install, such that you're trying to x out three times is too much. Add to it that one of the times when you try to x out takes you to another window with Google Play regardless of how accurate you tap the x. Ads I can tolerate. This #&@$ is not ok. Not playing again until they stop this stupidity.

Does not work at all without Google Play Store enabled, not to be confused with Google Play Services which is actually necessary to run the apps. This is literally the only app that has this problem. With the Play Store disabled, it will infinitely show "Loading" and nothing else! As for the game, what others have said for the ads is true. The Challenge Mode is completely unfair; being penalized for mis-strokes. Given this is a touch screen game, that needs to be fixed.

Ads, ads, ads, and more ads. Buy it if you want to stop the ads, or just uninstall, because the ads are long, frequent, and annoying. I like this game, but typically I uninstall games with this many ads. I may buy this one, but after playing it for a couple years with tolerable ads, I'm angry that now I'm going to have to pay for it to keep playing.

This app installed itself from another Microsoft app. I Did not install it, yet it appeared on cell phone. Microsoft games are ok, but the constant ads are the problem. You play a couple of short games, then the ad comes up taking over cell phone. If you click wrong thing trying to close the ad, many of which makes alot of noise suddenly, then you can install and app without permission. I have no idea how this even being allowed by Google. Probably due to Google and Microsoft greed 4ur money

Been playing this for a very long time. One of just three games on my device. Recently though it has stopped syncing with the cloud, meaning a loss of some features, and the help article references a fix which is not there. Can't toggle something off and on, if the toggle switch doesn't exist.

The ads are ridiculously long and forceful, usually taking 30+ seconds before you can click X. Clicking X takes you to a page where you have to wait another several seconds so you can look at the ad some more. After that, you're allowed to click X again, but it redirects you to the app store for what they were advertising. It is unacceptable that Microsoft is allowing these deceptive ads on their app.

The game itself is fun enough and helps exercise the ol' brain. However, the ads are just a real pain... Like other apps, you're forced to watch a quick demo of the game and then the option to close the ads fades in at the end--mostly just tapping on an "X". Most of the time when I click on the X it will just bring me straight to a website related to the ad, and sometimes the Google play store will be activated with the advertised app already brought up. Stop forcing the traffic to the ad.
