The last time my word chums app updated was June 24th 2021. The game freezes and crashes and eventually the option to close the app comes up then I have to start all over. This can happen three or four times within 10 minutes. This is been going on for about 2 months. My phone doesn't have any malfunctions except for when I'm playing word chums. I have sent several screenshots of the screen when the game freezes. I've communicated several times with support. I've uninstalled and reinstalled. 😵

Well, been playing this game since 2014 and I can say it never gets old during the winter months. I always come back to playing it during the winter with my family . only downfall is the accrual of points or coins is so slow .It would be nice to change up styles of clothes and themes more frequently and maby even choose different types of sounds to go with the themes. like a "buy new sound" option for the "stormy" theme or the likes. Otherwise, I'm a lifetime customer of the game for sure.

Positives: Nice to have the option to play with either friends or a random person who happens to be there and close to your skill level. Hints are useful but not too obvious. The star method of indicating how close you are to getting the highest points is invaluable and we'll worth saving up coins to have. Negatives: There is a quick game option but there's no blurb explaining it in the rules or anywhere that I could find. Ads: Expected in a free game but they're not too obnoxious.

The game itself is fun, even though they allow some words that are not in regular English dictionaries, and the ads are a necessary evil. However, 90% of the time when you try to click on the "x" to exit ads it ends up opening them up, and even though I've muted sounds, some ads will still play sounds. The game will also occasionally ask you to rate it, but won't let you list a rating under 4 stars.

The game is cute, but has glitches. I get notifications that it is my turn to play a word, but when I open the game, it has not been updated, and it still says it is my opponent's turn!! Then I end up forgetting about the game, and losing, because I never get another notification!! It has been like this for years!! Also, the coin system is RIDICULOUS! It takes forever to earn coins - like months, but everything you can buy is so expensive!! Fix these things and I will change my rating.

Really love the game itself, although it doesn't have words that other word games have. My main problem is with the ads, and I know you have to have them, but if I could skip them after 5 seconds, then that would be great, but I'm not watching long ads after every turn. You and others that have ads that you have ti interact with 3-4 times before you're done with it kills my desire to like this game. If you get the right kind of ads (one touch skip) lmk, I'll reinstall.

Great game to play! Similar to Scrabble. You can play other people or the computer. Different characters represent levels of experience, so you can choose your challenge and comfort levels. An ad appeared after every turn (unacceptable!) and many ads were too long as well. I was ready to uninstall when offered the paid version for $5, and that was for me. Now, no ads ever!

Love the game. Played the free version for a while. Purchased premium in May, and I love it even more! I like the challenges of playing the chumbots at all levels of difficulty. Still loving it! My husband and I love challenging each other in a friendly game. I accomplished 150+ word last week which was last week of April 2022. Shows in my stats, but not in achievements as "Incredible Word." Please advise.

Edit - Back swiping issue fixed in recent version. Chat box still broken and unusable tho. Seems on latest Android versions the chat box that you type in no longer appears at the bottom. So when you first open the chat, the keyboard pops up, but you can't see the text box or send button. You remove the keyboard and there's nothing at the bottom, just blue space. If I clear the game data in Android settings and reset it, the chat box shows up, til I come back later and it's broken again.

Its great! Would definitely recommend. Edit: I deleted this game a few months after I reviewed it. I decided to revist it, and to my horror it has become plauged with older men trying to make creepy small talk. To top it off, there are ads after EVERY move you make. These ads are hard to click off of, and more times then not youll click on the ad by "mistake". The only reason this doesnt have a one star rating is because the game is cute and would be wonderful without this.

It accepts a lot of obscure words but denies a few common ones. Relatively easy to use. Additional features are cute and the chat is helpful. It will not update the game during spotty cell service. You might get notifications that it's your turn, but when you open up the game, it will not post the last player's move. I blame Verizon, not the app.

I've been playing for years, decided to update. It's still fun to play with friends and, even more, customizing the avatars continues to give incentive to keep playing. Being able to send gifts to friends is also a feature I really enjoy. If you want a scrabble-like game to play on your phone with friends, this is it. Solo is sort of a pain without paying, though, because you get a limited of trys against the chumbots. Still, it's an awesome game :)

Very fun to play against your friends. Although you do have use coins to pay for tickets to play against the computer and you do have alot of annoying pop up ads that pop up when you least expect them to. But, if you get the paid version, playing against the Chumbots (the computer) is free. Plus all the "pop up" ads will disappear as well! It's well wroth it! Believe me it saves you a major headache if you get the paid version. Loads of more fun! Very enjoyable!

I like playing this, because it lets you know if it qualifies as a word before you submit it. You pay for hints, but they don't show you the word -- only where to place one of its letters, and you still have to guess the word and its letters. So I rate it a 4. Then it stopped working when I updated. I had to delete it and forfeit the ad-free option & my level 70. Started over at level 67 and my main irritant now is all the men who proposition me instead of playing the game. I DON'T CHEAT OR CHAT

Very fun, challenging, and addicting! Can play multiple games at once. Improves language and spelling skills........That was then. Since the update of 6/2021, I have half of my screen when I try to play. I can't see any of my tiles, the scores at the bottom, nothing. I can't even join a game already in progress. I tried logging out and back in....I lost all of my equity in the game. I really love it and want to continue playing. HELP!

TOTALLY amazing app! Love playing. More discounts should be offered for items though. Update: there's a bug in the visual of the hats/holds boost amounts showing according to their tech support. It's been going on for 2+ months, but no eta in when it'll be fixed.

It's fun and like Scrabble but with enough tweaks to make it a different experience. I like how you can pay $4.99 to go ad-free, unlike Scrabble Go which deluges you with ads and charges $7.99 per mo. For ad-free. I wish it had more game modes or mini games, but this is an engaging and well-designed update on Scrabble.

Harder computer levels mainly mean you just get bad letters/swapping doesn't work. I've swapped out letters multiple times just to get the same ones. I always stop playing then come back to this game.. then stop again. Idk why I come back but must mean something I like about it but after a few days/a week it gets to be the same thing with the computer games (which I prefer- I know some don't.)

Update 4/24l24: App keeps glitching even after update on Google Play. Fun, adorable, addicting but not stressful, maybe cuz it's so cute and happy! Just as challenging as Scrabble or WWF, except that the computer isn't as easy to beat when you play solo! Great visuals, gifs, sound effects and affirmation, as well as cute rewards (e.g., "gear" for your "chum"--avatar, which you get to choose). Buy hints with points (shows you where you can place a word). Extra points for longer words.

I LOVE the game itself. The adds are part of the "free" access and I traditionally have had no issues with supporting those sponsors. Unfortunately, this has become a near constant bombardment of long, repeated ads that requires several steps on my part to simply close out. I will be installing the app if the experience continues to be more of a hassle than a simple mental break.
