(/Still/ having widget issues with "current location." I'm leaving a review while I'm re-downloading the app. Tedious, but it seems to solve the issue for a while.) Great app. Definitely download it and figure it out. It's a great app for data nerds. I'd ask for a UX redesign though, I feel we're centimeters away from the finish line. And I've had it turn my friends off of the service, but they are happy to use the web app on a computer.

Many unique and attractive layers and maps, but one really large shortcoming: the ability to have more than one layer active at any one time. I subscribed for over a year hoping that they would change course, but despite many requests by others via their forums, I don't think they are inclined to add the feature. For me, having radar, storm track, warnings and frontal boundary layers active is a big deal, so I will be switching to an app that offers those capabilities.

Looks intimidating in its graphics/filter choices..but don't be fooled. Extremely user-friendly & custom to YOUR needs! It is abundant in opts, no crashes, & is the most accurate out there. To remove ads is dirt cheap/worth every piece of couch change you find. I know the developers must just loove weather b/c I don't even remember seeing ads. I simply purchased to support the work put in, nothing more. Impressed. Only needs mobile alerts (coming I heard..) but still the best out there. :)

Fantastic! I only have two complaints: 1) I wish the layers would persist between uses of the app. If what I care about is wind gusts, then that layer sould stay on when I close the app. 2) a description of the units would be nice. For example if it says rain "5mm" that's not really useful without a time. Will it rain 5mm in a day, in an hour, between synoptic periods, etc. I honestly don't know. (Rain accumulation is clear enough, but rain itself is not given with a meaningful unit.)

So a few things about the update, first, widgets will not stay loaded. Second, when I changed location, right now the app still thinks that I am 120 miles to the south. Third, you close the app after refreshing the location, then when you close it, it goes BACK to the cached location. And from a usability standpoint, having text versus pictures for the data layers is way easier. I unfortunately was forced to update (I had rolled back the update in hopes that this would change). Please fix!!!

Would be a good app, but UI is very glitchy. None of the views and selections are remembered, starting with the map zoom level- it just returns to the default zoom every time I switch back to the app, by simply switching between open apps. Forecast graph settings, such as Basic/Wind, forecast models, etc are also reset every single time and not saved as per the last selections. The touch interface is very buggy- location selection is way off half the time, does not select the location pressed.

Thanks for the reply. I already tried to delete the widget and add it back but it didn't work. However the notification disappeared somehow since yesterday. It might be a server side issue? ‐---------- Someone reported an issue that I am also experiencing hasn't fixed yet. A notification stays forever that says "updating widget" since last update. It also has an issue on determining location for local weather. Was a good app until this happens. Seems like it is draining battery.

Best weather app out there, it offers so many useful features and I like the new UI. Moving forecast locations is easy, comparing forecasts, and swapping layers is simpler and faster. Love the webcams in the area too. The new widgets seemed to stop having the update issues too. Just wich I could set the default base later without paying, it's not worth the price for just that which is what I really want from premium.

Love the advanced weather model data! Especially the winds at multiple Altitudes. I can even see the Jetstream above 400 mb level. It goes All the way up to the 250 mb level, almost 40,000 feet. Also, I can see model data from the EURO, & GFS models in one easy to use app. Plus the fire data is unparalleled. Nice radar, precipitation, clouds, & air quality. It's almost my main weather app. I just would like graphical hourly data for local regions. The local data in Windy, is not as detailed.

The new update was a step in the wrong direction. The widget is hard to refresh data and won't start at all after rebooting my phone. I don't know how this version of the app passed usability testing. The new "picker" covers 90% of the screen (OnePlus 8) but doesn't go away after choosing the view you want. You have to close it manually. And it is harder now (more taps) to get to the view you want. Now, tap on the map. A bar appears at the top. Swipe the bar left. Gone. Usability FAIL overall.

This is one of only two apps subscriptions I have ever paid for. (I really got everything I needed for free. but wanted to support the world's best WX app. Yes, it's that good. A real-time view for hail (always a big concern in central Texas in the Spring) is the only thing missing. Windy is a steal for the access you get to so many quality WX models that are not generally available.

Apparently the new widget UI design is to make them useless. I've cleared cache, user data, uninstalled, re-installed, rebooted and all I ever get are big black boxes for the widgets. It's the same thing on 3 different devices. Downloaded v39.1.1 and they work fine. 39.1.4 doesn't work. Update: So they still haven't fixed the app and now I get an in-app message saying they are going to force users to update to the broken version. What a great way to lose users completely.

Keeps crashing, slow to load, no colors for differentwind speeds... just gray look and no particle even though I have the box checked. Pretty much useless since update. Little red box is annoying as well. We don't need that to tell us what we are seeing. You want us to buy premium... I almost did. UPDATE: App won't even install. I can open it from the Playstore but no icon on my phone. How do you go from the best app I used AND promoted to the worst app in just three weeks?????

I really like the app but the fact that you have to get the premium version in order for it to open with radar is just stupid (you have to change it from wind to radar in settings every time you open it). It's also really annoying that you can't just type in your location or add a location from the map, I don't allow any apps access to my location. To Ondra from windy, I literally just tried to set the default from wind to radar and it said I had to pay $20 so now it's one star. !

If you don't want a widget, Windy is the best weather app. Unfortunately, Widgets no longer work on Android w Pixel phones. You try to add a widget, and the widget settings buttons do nothing. On the off chance it puts a widget on your home screen, that widget will never load data from the app. Have changed battery optimization, notification, and myriad other settings to no avail. It's really irritating, because otherwise the app is excellent and the weather is incredibly accurate.

Absolutely the best weather app that I've come across. This Windy app has everything imaginable and then some. I'm actually flabbergasted that I didn't know about this app sooner. And I love how there is a drop down menu for the numerous different kinds of weather maps including maps for gases and radiation. Even the windy section of the app is new and unique. Finally I've found a weather app that gives me plenty of options to choose from to keep my mind busy all while learning something. 👍👏

This is one of the most featured and detailed weather apps I've used. Really great for helping me determine if it's too windy to go flat water kayaking. I really wish the radar view differentiated between rain/sleet/snow. Also wish there was a more general 3-5 day forecast widget. Unfortunately I still need to use another weather app like Weather Underground for my daily life forecast needs.

Just the best. I don't trust most weather predictions up here in the northeast, so I want to SEE the weather, see the wind, pressures, storms, precip, temps, satellite, radar, this app lets you see EVERYTHING!!! And animate it into the future, show some of the past, add layers to a personal view etc etc. Imho this is the best weather app for someone trying to understand current and future weather at a glance, especially if you want specific data for various activities.

the new integrated history/prediction slider is garbage; I can make much better predictions myself without it interfering with junk information; it actually prevents me from landing on the most recent frame and forces the view to 4 minutes ago; a button on the "more ..." expansion menu to switch between the two modes would be much better; best would be getting rid of it entirely

Great app with plenty of data. I've been using for over a year. Only reason it's not 5 stars is there are bugs far too frequently. For a while the lightning wasn't working, it happened again somewhat recently but overall good now. Widgets have been constantly buggy though. For one it keeps converting to either light or dark mode and I need to switch back to system default. Also keeps needing to be reloaded and often goes blank or data loading. Now they only load in Celsius. Need a fix for 5 star
