Ventusky: Weather Maps & Radar

August 05, 2024

More About Ventusky: Weather Maps & Radar

The app combines highly accurate weather forecast for your location with a 3D map showing development of weather in a broader area in a very interesting way. This allows you to see where precipitation is going to come from or where the wind is blowing from. The uniqueness of the app comes from the amount of data displayed. Forecast of weather, precipitation, wind, cloud cover, atmospheric pressure, snow cover and other meteorological data for different altitudes is available for the whole world. Moreover, the app is completely free of ads.
WIND ANIMATION
The Ventusky application solves weather displaying in an interesting way. Wind is displayed using streamlines which clearly portray the continuous development of weather. Airflow on Earth is always in motion and the streamlines depict this motion in an amazing way. This makes the interconnection of all atmospheric phenomena obvious.

WEATHER FORECAST
Weather forecast for the first three days is available in the app in one-hour steps. For other days, it’s available in three-hour steps. Users can also look up sunrise and sunrise times in a given place.

WEATHER MODELS
Thanks to the Ventusky application, visitors get data directly from the numerical models that, just a few years ago, were used solely by meteorologists. The app collects data from the most accurate numerical models. Besides the well-known data from the American GFS and HRRR models, it also displays data from the Canadian GEM model and the German ICON model, which is unique thanks to its high resolution for the whole world. Two models, EURAD and USRAD, are based on current radar and satellite readings. These models are able to show precisely current precipitation in US and Europe.

WEATHER FRONTS
You can also display weather fronts. We have created a neural network that predicts the positions of cold, warm, occluded, and stationary fronts based on data from weather models. This algorithm is unique, and we are the first on the world who makes global fronts forecast available to users.

Why has the "Sea" feature been removed that allowed people to see the wave height around the world? - Thanks for the response. The issue has been resolved, and the wave height is visible again. I had not changed the settings before, that's why I wasn't aware this would be how to turn it back on.

Overall pretty good but the AQI is just plain wrong...basically all the time. I have an AQI of 160 right now (wildfires) and it's telling me it's 13. A quick peek out the door verifies, yep, it's pretty smoky. Basically hasn't been right...ever. This is a human health measurement..they really need to expedite a fix quickly.

As a weather nerd I love this weather app and I think the premium layers are well worth the £2.99 annual fee. I love the predictive radar and the way you can switch between the different radar providers to get the complete picture of the weather that is heading towards you. Also, I love that you can switch between the different weather models and look days ahead to see how weather develops. Fantastic app.

Nice app when running on a PC - Mobile app leaves "everything" to be desired - Startup starts in European continent NOT in U.S, or even have an option - same for ALL the metrics... they're in metric format - Zoom function doesn't work at all - Search For function returne to LAST location used even when deleted - 30 minutes of playing around with App was enough for me - Was a waste of time and uninstalled a.s.a.p. This mobile app NEEDS more work to be Ready For Primetime

I cannot stand that no state boundaries are indicated in the map images. Unless I am missing it, I don't see whether to show boundaries or not, as an option anywhere in the app settings. If I'm mistaken, please do let me know. Otherwise, I strongly suggest coding it in as an option, instead of deciding for everyone that we just don't get to see them.

I have had Ventusky on my computer since I heard about it years ago. Living in South Carolina and prone to hurricanes, it provides details that you can't get on local weather. With another hurricane coming, I downloaded the app on my phone just to find out that certain features like wind speed and wind gusts are now considered 'premium features' and require a fee. It also warns of in app purchases. I will be uninstalling. Disappointed.

Highly accurate, constantly updated, very useful. Only thing is I wish the free version could do just a tad more. Otherwise I use this app daily and it's only been wrong once or twice out of several years of using it to monitor weather systems. Not to mention during hurricane season is when I use VentuSky the most, "only due to interest in storms". And it's pin point accuracy is top notch!!!!! I would give VentuSky a 6 star rating if I could so 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟😋🧐😎

Well I downloaded the app. Install went fine but when trying to access settings, it crashed. Started again, took so long to load I restarted tge app. Same thing happened. When finally started and waited. It finally showed me Europe! Then it asked for location service access which I granted and it pulled up my location but took so long to show me tge region. I stopped the app and uninstalled. Not impressed with all this so staying with online version. I'm running Galaxy A12 Android.

I love everything about the app, except instead of paying a one time fee of say, $5 or $10 USD, I have to enroll in a subscription. EDIT: after buying the subscription, the UI has drastically changed and I can no longer access the forecast how I should be able to. Edit 2: after a reinstall it now works.

For some reason, one part of the app shows time in the standard 12 hour format, and in another it shows time in the 24 hour format.. and there's quite a few settings for choosing between metric(which are ignorantly all set to metric in America...) and "American"(imperial), but no option for time. Also, no progress bar showing time on the radar makes it basically useless. Uninstalled

XaaS continues to pillage and plunder its way through everything good. I would have happily paid a one-time fee for the premium app. However, instead I'll just continue to use online sources that uBlock Origin cleans up— for free. It's unfortunate but I will not support XaaS modeling without at least an alternative option to buy, and OWN, a perpetual license outright. Bring back the one-time purchase option to OWN the premium app with no subscription, and I'll change my tune.

I need this message to reach the developer. Over the past few weeks now, the app constantly crashes upon start-up. I can't use it at all. I reinstalled it and nothing changes. I'm not sure what else to do. Please help. **update.. the app has worked well over the past few months. i was hoping to receive an extension to my subscription since I wasn't able to use it for 2 months.

It's definitely an app for the meteorology hobbyist. I've spent some time w it and it grows in value and interest. It's tough, though, to have all this dehomogenized data points but can't get a simple rain forecast. As much as I enjoy the bells & whistles, I make decisions based on the pros and their "guesswork". And appreciate them for it. I hope you can figure it in soon 'cause I don't wanna lose this.

Great app. I used Windy for a while as well as WU but this has so much more information than those in current form. I upgraded to the premium layers almost immediately. If I had to have 1 beef, it's that the app seems to crash on my S-10+ when I zoom in too far (about 5 mile radius maybe?). Otherwise, it's worked flawlessly. Not sure if it uses personal weather station data or not (even better if so) but it seems to accurately predict the arrival & length or rain showers.

UPDATE 8/7/19: Switching "Model" to "Automatic" in the settings has fixed the issue. The app is great! This app is nice, but it was awesome. It seems the latest update has removed forecast from the free version? If so, it's become kind of useless and I can no longer suggest it to people because weather apps should display the future weather.

I have been looking for a weather app that makes it easy to plan out a travel route based on weather, and this seems to be perfect. Most other weather apps focus on your current location, but you can easily see weather forecast for anywhere with this app, not to mention it's so beautiful to look at. Premium is so cheap, I'll probably be upgrading soon if app works well.

Love it, love it, love it!! Particularly useful when in destinations where the weather can vary a lot through the course of a day. I've used for about 2 months now, including traveling to Alaska and Orlando during Hurricane Ian. This app was SO spot on in both situations. Don't even think about it, just reward the developers immediately with a (VERY inexpensive) yearly subscription right out of the box!!! Very well done!!!!

Great app with many special little features but… I'm a subscriber and I have to constantly reinstall the app because I keep losing my subscriber options. Also, the first time everyday when I open the app, it won't show me the wind and precipitation. I hv to close it and open it again. Every single day! That's not that big of a deal, But having to reinstall the app, at least once a week get very tedious. Losing your saved locations every time I have to reinstall Is annoying.

This has the potential to be a great weather app. I have the premium version, but unfortunately there are still bugs that need to be worked out (e.g. the "Meteogram" goes blank when switching between temperature, precipitation, etc.) Also, I would like if the User Interface were just a little bit cleaner when it comes to displaying the data and moving between different charts. The current display feels slightly dated, but that's just me.
