The app recently updated on my phone a few days ago (Version 3.0.0-production-release). It is now the source of serious battery issues. I have a workhorse of a battery on my Galaxy S24 Ultra cell phone. While I sleep for 8 hours, the app drains my phone battery from 100% to 10% with the screen off. There's something very seriously wrong with the new app update. I am seriously considering taking my business elsewhere if this coninues! Customer support doesn't seem to care when I called them.

The new version is terrible. The map view only shows end of drive. Can't see where my harsh braking was and learn from that. My wife and I just bought identical galaxy s43 phones, the app was transferred to it and was working with new version. I called usaa to ask why the map wasn't working as before. The support did't explain the new version. But recommend the I uninstall & reinstall which I did but now the app is running in background but app will not open to see reports.

After the recent update this app is not useful and hard to understand . The biggest problem is that on the day it update my score was 81 in the morning, no driving that day but my score dropped to 58. Customer service at USAA was useless, could only read back what your score is based on. I also received a text on the same asking me was a involved in a wreck in May!!!!! This new update has been nothing but problems. Also, the app will record only part of a trip. Too many other problems .

This app could seriously use some work. There are too many times where I'm penalized for "phone handling" once I've parked and immobile. Why can't this app distinguish something like that when you're somewhere like a parking lot? I've been penalized for adding a new destination into Google Maps because the place I went to was closed. It's way too easy to get unfairly penalized, I can't even type anything on my car's touchscreen because that counts as phone handling.

Version 3.0 released at the end of July 2024 has ruined this app. Not only is the UI demonstrably worse than the old version, but the app is now chewing through 40% of my battery on most days. Because I still want the discount, I might end up having to install this on an old phone that I just keep in my car. This won't track phone use correctly any more but that's not my problem when you put out such an un-optimized app.

Dings me for having navigation running. Says I was on my phone for 10% of a 1 hour drive when I tap my phone once. Has no ability to detect drive through times where you are stopped, but may have to show your phone for something. Very inconsistent and costing me money. I've actually tried pulling over in a neighborhood, parking and checking something on my phone and still had it ding me. The new interface is terrible and far more difficult to use.

with the new update I am unable to see my entire trip. I have clicked on map, double clicked on map, held my finger on map, pinched and squeezed, nothing works, it just shows end of trip. downgrading my original rating. It seems like this app throws random HARSH BREAKING demerits. I've had to decelerate quickly and didnt get dinged but a light going downhill beaking and I do. Even when I tell it I was passenger I still get dinged for their harsh breaking. No way to dispute it.

I will confirm all the frustrations I have read from other users in regard to the August update. I seriously thought it had to be a computer error until I went to update my app and saw all the reviews. The prior version was easy to use and understand. It is hard to believe anyone would think anything about this app is an improvement.

They updated and sense then I can not get it to work. It crashes anytime I edit a trip, constantly says I'm using my phone if I have negativion on. I have to edit trips cause I use navigation alot and my kiddo like music so she often has my phone . This was on top of them changing how to see all your trips making it wa my and multiple steps it was way better before this new update. I never had it crash and now I can't even get it to open.

The recent update is terrible. It used to be easy to see what was going on and what violations you had. It was also easy to see if there were trips being recorded where you were the passenger, etc. The new update is a pain in the neck. It's almost enough to make me cancel the whole service. Why do developers go and break things that are working just fine.

It was a decent, simple app with a good discount. But they pushed an update that made it way harder to utilise. They took away the summary that showed how many/what type of incidents you had in that billing cycle, they narrowed the map function to only show your ending location on a trip instead of the whole route (which also means you can't see where your incidents happened), and the trips are lumped together in a list that makes it hard to distinguish between them. Nice discount, bad interface

This app is buggy as hell and worthless. It constantly eats thru your battery in the background. It registered that I was "in a crash" even though I was just sitting at a red light...what the hell?? Edit: Managed to make it even worse with a totally unneeded update. Now everything that used to be very simple is a complex, multi step process. At least before, it was very intuitive with good graphics, but now it is a totally unstable, visually cluttered mess.

The app runs all the time and it drains my phone battery. It would be better if it only ran 'while in use'. Also the app seemed to update, it quit showing the whole trip map. The safe drive app help person told that they would have uninstalled and then reinstalled as I did. As for decrease in discount, it seem they could neither confirm or deny phone handling against the disabled.

Like many others, not very pleased with the overall look & feel of the app since it was updated. It took away some useful information and replaced it with...nothing. About the only thing that stayed the same is how it is quick to "punish" by taking away whole percentage points or more for an "infraction" on a drive but very slow to "reward" those points back over numerous drives without an occurrence. Still wondering the benefit of such measly savings. Something is better than nothing?

Was a great app for 13 months, but the recent update has made the UI terrible, and has caused issues with my phone battery life. The problem is definitely the app. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling, and now it won't even open. Another call to USAA now to deal with it. I appreciate the program, but if the app makes my phone unusable then I'm not going to bother.

Not liking this new update. I cannot view the map for my whole trip. The status for my trip history is harder to view in the new format. It creates a much more difficult task of trying to remember where I was when and what time with out the map to guide the time frame. Plus the trip events only show for each event but you have to click on on the event to even see what the specific event was. I do NOT like it.

I have concerns about this app, despite its benefit of saving on insurance. First, it drains my battery quickly and doesn't allow battery saver mode. Second, it inaccurately records phone use when I'm parked in garages. Before driving, I set my Google Maps and music, but the app counts this as phone use. Most frustrating is that answering a Bluetooth hands-free call while driving lowers my driving score. This feels unfair, as staying connected is important for safety. I hope these issues

The recent update is terrible. I can no longer see my trips in one spot, it takes multiple clicks. There is just a long list of trips which no longer, in nice place, shows you how you're doing. The map used to show the whole trip, which allowed me to see where I had an incident, but that feature is now gone. It only shows the end of the trip. If the purpose of the app is to help you become a safer driver, how can I learn from my errors? Awful.

This app was updated recently with a new UI. The previous version had a nice meter on the home screen, which showed the driving score and total violation at a glance. This version the meter was taken away with no total violations anywhere. Also, the trip map can no longer be viewed for the entire trip, only the trip's ending location. There are more problems I can't list because there is not enough room here. These changes make the UI more "User Hostile" than "User Friendly." I don't like it.

This August update is horrible. Very difficult to see my trips and the details, and it keeps reducing my driver percentage by 1% each time I drive even when there is no infraction at all. I thought unstalling and reinstalling would help and that has made it worse. Right now, it won't even open and I get frequent crash messages about it on my phone. What is the deal? DON'T fix what isn't broken. It was fine the way it was. Put it back to the previous version!
