There are several positive changes to this app over the years, but my number one complaint is that their functionality with pictures is still clunky and limited. Although you can now zoom in to get a better view of the pictures, they are restrained by the original size, and do not take advantage of the full screen (if the original image takes up 1/5 of the screen, zooming in is constrained by this tiny window with wasted space around it taking up most of the screen).

As an honest source of balanced news, I really like USA Today, as they are one of the best in the country. However, they frequently barrage you with notices to switch you to their paid service. They started separating access to paid & free articles and they want more money per month, than the NY Times & Washington Post! It just doesn't sit well with me, so I frequently go elsewhere. To Be honest, if they would lower the price for a digital subscription, I might accept.

I have had an active subscription for ad-free since 2018 and just had a payment go through today but have been seeing ads and getting pop ups in the app to "go ad-free". Can't find any way to contact you for resolution. 7/24 update: USA developer contacted me saying this glitch was fixed & even though I had that version I am still getting ads. Contacted them again & they said it is up to PlayStore to fix???? I now see that several others are having the same issue. Canceled my subscription AGAIN!

I have been using this app for a few years and once considered it the best news app available. I would spend about 15 minutes a day browsing through the news stories. The app added an extremely annoying behavior about 6 months ago. After about 10 minutes scrolling through the headlines the screen refreshes for no apparent reason and you are placed at the beginning of the story list. To get back where you were you need to scroll past all the ads you've already seen.

Latest update trashed all my previously saved articles, and apparently no longer has the "search" function (that I can find in the app). Lost 2 stars for that. Agree that some of the content has been dumbed down the last 5 months; must be attention spans are declining further, and USA Today is catering to that. Bad move! Still, it's a go-to app for basic news, but Bloomberg, Reuters and Cnet better for business and tech news.

Still the best national news source. For people with busy lives, it's stories always seem to be the right length, containing all the essential facts presented in a very reader-friendly format. Yes, to access all stories a subscription is necessary, but that's becoming the norm for all online news sites. I only subscribe to one, and that's USA TODAY.

The functionality and ease of navigation is exceptional. It would be great if there was an easy way to catch up on important articles. The search function is unreliable. I do like the ability to follow special topics. Their reporters do some in-depth stories. I just read a feature article about the fate of large cities after the corona virus vaccine gets out into the public. There was plenty of analysis. They do a lot of reporting and charge very little. It's a vital service that's worth

When I play a video, the commercial plays but then pop up----- Your video has not been set up properly by I.T. sorry bout your luck. Would you like to retry or close------. Not exactly what it says but that's what I see. The videos won't play. Thanks for the reply last time though. Extra star for that.

Been a usa today reader for over 20 years. I went digital when most places stopped selling paper version. I subed to the ad free version as soon as that was avail. I get constant ads asking me to sub to a new sub service, half the content is blocked behind this pay wall. They even send you breaking news notifications that are behind this pay wall. And normally I would have no problem paying for this content, but the content has gotten pretty bad and hard left leaning.

Used to be great, easy to navigate sections, looked good, not overly riddled with ads. I understand a free app needs to be paid for by ads, but Now ads keep popping up in the middle of reading, I cant read certain stories if I don't hand over money. Its unusable if you don't pay. I don't pay for news, you already have ads all through out your articles, I'm ok with that. There are enough free news providers out there that I am about to take me readership elsewhere.

Edit: Your push for a subscription was enough for me to finally move on. Now half the articles are behind a paywall and there are too many news apps that simply are not trying to shove a sub down my throat. As if the paid content ads and banners along with a 30 second ad that takes forever to load to watch any vids wasn't enough. You had it right. Now i cant look at articles at a glance. Somehow you forgot the #1 rule in designing a news app.

The content and news alerts are great, but if you only have the free version, you quickly find out that many of the news alert notifications you receive are for articles that are only available for paying subscribers. Very annoying. I wish there was an option that would only send me alerts for articles I have access to. Also, every time you open the app, you're greeted with an ad for their subscription service, which isn't cheap. Ultimately, I've decided to delete the app for these reasons.

Ok.....so your "latest" update didnt fix anything!!! Go into a story and scroll down you get taken back to the main list. Go back into a story....scroll down and it takes u all the way out!!!!! If it doesnt, after you have finished reading the story and hit the back tab...your taken all the way to the beginng of the whole section. Your app has become a waste of time.....

This was a great news app at one point. Now, it's a joke. I tried to watch a video on here. The video was 44 sec, but had 5, count that 5 adds totaling 55 sec. The adds were longer than the video. WTH! I get everyone needs to make $ but 5 adds will make me never use this. Also, when I do not wish to read the story in my pull down menu I swipe to get rid of the notification, but recently it causes my phone to crash. It's only from this app too. No other app has notifications that crash my phone.

Very good source for news, should be four or five stars. However, since the end of May if I swipe away a notification, sometimes my phone will get randomly rebooted and its only this app after I swipe away the notifcation. Its annoying, especially when you have other important notifications and messages that you need to access quickly. Nothing wrong with my phone, which is completely up to date, and the appnhas been updated.

I read USAToday every day. I wish the same stories didnt appear twice, as often happens. I have a daily game with the USToday app: it's called, "find the typos". I can usually find 2 a day. Often they are blatent. Sometimes they are more subtle. Some frustration with seeing ads for apartments that are in another state, auto dealer ads in Spanish, or repeatedly seeing the same ad over and over again, like for Eloquis. Also have to be careful as stories from months ago may appear.

Great source for news and sports. However, the app leaves much to be desired. App constantly logs you out, it's almost impossible to set and save topics, and the puzzles section is buggy and incomplete. It's easier and faster just to use a computer rather than this app.

Update: Works better now. Read the reviews. Tried it anyway. Removed it from my phone two days later. Unbelievably not user friendly in my opinion, even for a free version. The amount of ads and promts to to subscribe, ALMOST CONSTANTLY, are ridiculous, as is that many stories are for subscribers only. I considered subscribing until I saw the price. Content not worth it. Might have went $5 but not almost double that.

It said if you buy a subscription, then you don't see advertisements, but after buying it, I still see advertisements. All the good news apps have a Read aload function, but USA Today doesn't. My saving stories on the mobile app would not sync to the computer if I opened it there. It's not cool. Never renew my subscription again.

USA Today would provide a free paper once a week to school children many years ago. At one point, I was one of those children. I remember especially the cutting edge charts and graphics, but also getting to know a truly national paper with professional, unbiased reporting. I have been pleased with this app, and more importantly with its content. I recommend this app.
