So this app is very functional and good. I use it for the garage door controller. The two stars is for a very specific use case. There is a major issue with how the app behaves in the event of no network connection. Rather than displaying "unknown" or "network error" the app's logic defaults to showing "open". This is very frightening to see. Without network, you cant check the logs to see if this is true. I know this now, but if this can be fixed my 2 would change to 5.

While I like the camera, the app is kind of second rate. Very slow opening the camera and most of the time I have to open and close the app before the camera comes on. Makes no difference how long you wait. You still have to open and close the app. There used to be a " format sd card" option for erasing pictures. Now it's gone and support just tells me to have the app engineer look at it. An impossible task there. Support sucks! Ever try to erase 1,000's of pictures 15 at a time?

It's not the greatest app, but it works for turning on and off my lights at home and away from home. It does this part really well. The smart scenes and scheduled timers should ALWAYS stay static to *how they were created*, but can save any changes you make at any time to that smart scene even when you're no longer in smart scenes, making them almost totally useless unless you go fix them again. Widgets can't find my lights. It works for basic features really well, but other functions are incomplete.

It would be nice to have, for 5 stars, a dark theme Update: It seems the scenes are working again, Tuya fixing this issue pretty quick. Therefore I'm bumping the rating from 1 to 4 stars. - Previous review: Suddenly automation and scenes stopped working after almost one year without incidents. All devices are online and can be turned on/off individually, but not in automation/scenes. What's the purpose of automation if I need to turn them on/off manually?

Only works 50%. Scheduling on and off times works great. However, despite setting up a lighting schedule to run with the misting schedule, lighting doesn't respond. I have it start misting at 6:15am, with NO LIGHT. Light turns on everytime mist turns on, and wakes me up. (It's bright!!!) I must have my phone handy to turn off the light, so I can sleep longer. :( If you're going to offer light control and scheduling, please make sure it works properly!!!

It's OK when it works. Bought four outlets from them. Programmed each to the app, and to Amazon Alexa. I have them hooked up for lighting on my. Aquariums, but I have to check daily that actually turned on and off. All 4 have completely stopped responding to the schedule since daylight savings time started. They always acknowledge Alexa when told to turn on. It's definitely something with the app. Please fix!

Never worked. App has some of the worst error messages which don't make any sense. Even after figuring out finally and creating the family network, the devices didn't get paired. During the installation, the app shows that the device is connected but fails to complete the process and errors out. Worst app, worst device. Returning all 4 smart plugs I bought

Update May 30, 2019 Tuya Application recognized the plugs in the attempt today. Both plugs are working with the Tuya App. However, integration with Alexa does not work. Alexa cannot find the devices even after authorization. Secondly, why do you need Tuya Smart as well as Smart Home app? Which one is to be used for integration with Alexa? Still sitting on the fence and without Alexa integration, the plugs are not worth having. I can send them back to you for disposal as you wish. Older review from May 29, 2019 Barely a year into use, the plugs stopped working. The new app update in May 2019 cannot connect to the plug and set it up. The app itself is flaky and breaks off with network error 2 feet away from the WiFi router. In comparison, the TP Link software and devices have been very stable. Headed for the landfill I presume?

It has a few things that need to be improved. It doesn't start recording soon enough and stops long before the motion ends. Would like to see the ability to set it to keep recording for a selectable time period before and after motion stops. It also was giving me alerts but has stopped in spite of settings being in place. It gives a fantastic video in the daytime and can be used with a TF card that can be recorded to my phone as well, in lieu of paying for a service.

Was working but now it won't update the status of the device until I close it and then open it again. For example I've got a light beside me. If I turn it off it still shows on but the light is off. It will not update. Then I go into the light and look at it and it spins and spins then goes to the light but it's still won't allow me to control it. I then close it out come back in and the status is updated. And I've noticed that it keeps it randomly turning on lights, specifically by my bed. LOL

I purchased an electric scooter anditntold me to download this app. After I did I connected the scooter just fine and everything worked. Every time I tried to use the app after that none of the buttons worked. Half the time I would get a pop up about the cruise controll and, seeing as none of the buttons in the app worked, I could not close it. I definitely feel they should better the features on the app.

My mistake with the original review. The camera motion detect CAN be used as a condition to trigger other automations/scenes. But surveillance detection area doesn't seem to work at all. It wasn't straight forward to find the settings to set everything up correctly though. And the app needs more definitions on what all the settings do or mean.

I've had the Tuya Smart app for about 2 years. Everything was just fine until, just about, Feb 2024, they decided to try to force me (and I assume everyone else) to subscribe to their Cloud. They've disconnected my cameras twice in the past month, and, I connected them again. Then, they came back and did it again. I was able to share the Camera Views with my wife at one time on her iPhone, but, they took that away completely. They're changing the rules as time passes. I'm searching to replace.

I bought a tuya light bulb, the app works decently well and works smoothly for the bulb, but the tap to run features need a lot improvement, I need to memorize a pattern to set the brightness and colour temp, instead please make it easier by just adding a colour swatch within "Select function". Secondly the music sync mode doesn't work for tap to run. I tried all kinds of combinations but still it did not work. Pls improve these features. Thanks.

The device works okay when it's actually connected. But the app has multiple menus and nowhere to reconnect device to a different network. Their FAQ gives things to check but doesn't actually tell you where to go in the app/steps to resolve anything. It's aggravating to find where a particular setting is. It's a good thing the device notifies without their plan because the prices are stupid, especially when compared to Ring Protect's $3/4.

I installed this to control my air diffuser, which has a built-in LED light. Setting options are pretty straight forward: gradient or fixed. I have it on fixed in both locations of the app but it keeps resetting to gradient on the main device screen. It still says fixed on the schedule screen but it does run as gradient. For a simple setting like this not to work right is a shame. Do better.

The app rarely actually works. I have this one my room that I rent and when coming back from the shower I use the app as my fingerprint tends to not work after a shower. But the app rarely works and I get locked out alot. You have to restart the app 3-5 times each time and then it may work. It connects, but when you hit the button to unlock it the app doesn't respond.

Horrible app. Does not sync properly with other phones, meaning no data displayed. The data on my phone was displayed in English and then switched to Chinese. Even though I chose Fahrenheit, the app displays data in Celsius. The weight of the cat was first displayed in pounds but then switched to kilograms. This app needs to be replaced.

I have one of their smart vacuum robots. For some reason, they make the map extremely easy to delete. Which then causes me to have to wait an hour for the vacuum to remap the entire house. I have only had the app for 2 weeks, and it's happened 3 times now. I find it beyond annoying that there isn't a popup saying, "Are you sure you want to delete?". this last time, it was just the vacuum getting confused where it was, so it just deleted the whole map for no reason.

I use the app for CCTV, the app works "ok" most of the time. My issue is that, CCTV is put in place so it can be reviewed if something has happened, Tuya make this extremely difficult. If you need to look for an event over a period of time you have no option but to watch the entire playback at normal speed. Make it possible to select a portion of the footage and allow it to be downloaded in a playable format, you can't even remove the sd card to access it due to strange file formats used.
