For an app, this is a pretty accurate tuner. Ive used it alongside my tuner and it reads very close. Its actually nicer in some ways by providing the octaves and frequency of the notes played. That said, I still prefer using my tuner (and I have several - practically one for each instrument I own) but this is a great backup tuner whenever I'm caught unexpectedly without it.

Simple and easy to use. Immediately responds to tuning changes. Works out of the box. Only reason I don't give five stars is because it sometimes lingers on the note of a lower string when switching to a higher one. This is easily mitigated by tuning highest-to-lowest, and, to be fair, I haven't found any tuning app that doesn't do this to some degree.

love this app, I have been using it for years for steel string guitars and it's always worked perfectly. I just got a soprano ukulele for Christmas, it was easy to add the ukulele to my instrument list in the app. Ukuleles get out of tune real easy, especially when the strings are new (about every 15min or so) which takes less than minute each time to tune with this app. Thanks gStings

Something has changed. I like being able to set up custom tunungs. That's still there, but the interface seems to have a mind of its own. It used to be measured in notes, now it's in frequencies only, and it jumps to the next string without waiting to get the one I'm working with in tune. In manual mode it doesn't seem to register. I don't think it's my phone. I hadn't used this app lately and thie current behaviour isn't how I remember it at all. Can't understand what gStrings has done

There are a few ads that pop up but you can easily hit the x button to get rid of them and instantly back to your tuning. Also when you're the middle of shooting something no ads pop up which is great compared to other apps. Unbeknownst to me if I found this app useful I was at my girlfriend's house and she receives a violin for Christmas and it there was a setting on there where you can tune almost any instrument and I was able to tuner violin not even knowing how to play one. Great app!!!!

I have been tuning pianos for many years, and some are not made for "a440" , others have to be graduated back up to full pitch. This app enables me to tune different pitches as needed, and helps with calibration of my old tuner. It shows me exactly where an instrument is before I tune it so I will know how to approach properly tuning it.

Used to be the best FREE tuner, in my opinion, in the entire Google app store. For the last couple of years it's had several bugs that have been worked out for the most part, but now it just will not pick up my guitar at all. I have to use the manual mode tuning fork tones to tune by ear which pretty much eliminates the need for the app as I can tune by ear myself without it. So I have now discontinued using this app for the time being. I'll check back from time to time to check for fixes.

I've been using this app for several years now. For all my tuning needs for my brass instruments. This is one of the few apps out there that allow me to find tune extreme low ranges on a tuba. And is versatile enough to be used in many environments that I play performances in onstage. I highly recommend this App over other tuners because if its precision, Versatility And accessibility whether it's the free version or you pay for it.

Issues: can't "hear" my instrument, I have to be loud or extremely close to the phone. Laggy: the needle takes about 1-2 seconds to catch up. That was not the case in older app versions. Those bugs, plus obtrusive ads, have made this once sleek, simple, small app into an ad vehicle that I no longer enjoy. And, the app stays running in the background, which older app versions did not do. Sad, this once was what peple wanted from an app, but now it's just as crappy as most apps out there.

The app runs fast and is very accurate. the meter doesn't swing back and forth ridiculously as the competitor apps out there. Also, the interface isn't overly juvinelle, vainly fancy, or obnoxious looking, rather, it looks professional and does a good job. One drawback the me, I believe, not sure 100% sure, the app relys on Internet connection for its data crunching which is unreliable for me because I'll play in bar way out in rural Alaska where there is no phone network sometimes.

This app is wonderful. The only thing I could even think to tweak about it would be to have a single button toggle option or drop down menu on the main screen for different customizable reference pitch options, like 440 and 432, which I switch between often. But I realize that's not a common concern for most people, and I can at least change the reference pitch in the settings. Thanks for a great app!

Only tuning app I use, one of the first installs on every new phone. Straightforward functioning chromatic tuner, completely free. I most enjoy the fact that you can tune to whatever key you want without forking up extra money, doesn't have to be standard or one of the preset tunings. Besides that, it's pretty accurate as far as I can tell, I've never noticed any tuning problems that I could attribute to the app (ie dead strings, intonation etc).

Having a way to tune various instruments that is never farther away than your smart phone is a great idea. Sometimes I think it is maybe a little too sensitive, picking up transient harmonics that cause the needle to jump around, but once you figure out how to interpret that, it's just fine. I even use it to hit correct pitches with my voice.

Overall, definitely one of the better tuning apps. I use this app for turning my guitar. personally my favorite, but I have notice a couple issues. Sometimes transitioning notes can take an annoying amount of time to process the change. Also lower frequencies, like the low E string has been difficult for the app to identify. Issues seem to slightly improve with higher volume.

Best out of the 6 or 7 I've tried for acoustic, including Big F and GT. Other apps bounce around too much with acoustic guitar harmonics, this one is steady while still being sensitive enough to dial in the sound. Other apps always leave me with a flat high E and all strings a little off relative to each other, but this one looks and acts like a good analog tuner pedal. Highly recommended for acoustic. Better yet, it loads instantly and doesn't nag me to subscribe or try to teach me a song.

I have been using this app for several years. Never a problem, always quite accurate. The only downfall is that - since you dont plug into it or pick up vibrations off of it - it has to be fairly quiet, otherwise you pick up other instruments pitch, or the pitch of someone's voice. That's to be expected and is fairly easy to work around. Thanks for an awesome app!

Easy to use, and it tunes my guitar perfectly every time. It lets you tune through the entire musical alphabet which is nice. The tuner moves through every note including sharps and flats as you tune up or down, which is great for alternate tunings and meticulous ocd tuning. (A lot of other tuners will be stuck in whatever you're trying to tune to, e.g. EADGBE which is annoying)

Has everything a tuner should and they all work....and works well! Benn using this app for a few years now. Ad content is minimal. Easy to use interface. No unneeded bells and whistles. Select your instrument and tunjng and youre all set. Never had a freeze or reset or any other problems. You literally couldnt ask for more whether it was free or not! Highly recommend.

I have a bowed psaltry that covers 3 octaves and is difficult to tune. This app allows me to adjust octaves and use my ear to get it right. I love it. I don't know what they changed but I can no longer make this sound. Tuning is touchy on my instrument and I have to hear the tone and then play it and then hear the tone again and I can't do that anymore so I can't use this app anymore.

Great app could use an update or 2 more often as it crashes after having the app for a certain period of time. What's the best thing about this app is that it comes with all these different ways of playing and tuning which other apps do not give you that option for free and this one does I really like the Pythagorean tuning and this app is amazingly easy to use the only issue I have is is every time I've ever downloaded it it works great, then after sometime it decides to crash frequently.
