If you’re an artist, you’re coming in hot to a community that will love your work. Think of this as your online studio with many options: A portfolio, your calling card for your creations with in-built social engagement and community, or an online drawing board, a place to hash out ideas, share sketches, and gather feedback. Take requests and commissions or join art challenges like Goblin Week, Mermay, Julycanthropy, and Yeehawgust. Discuss the finer points of your favorite brushes. Tumblr will let just about anyone advertise with them in the app so watch out malicious links while you're scrolling 😉. Also the contact address listed below doesn't work so good luck getting support. The app doesn't have a an option in settings to choose how to open external links, it somehow overrides my phones's default browser settings which is a bit sketch.

12-20.Long time user of Tumblr. I love the app when it works, but the past few months it has been absolute garbage. Freezes up constantly! It's been this way the past several updates now. I use a Galaxy S10+ I'll be happy to update my score and review if the issue ever gets addressed. Edit:1-30-2024 Several updates later and the app is still unstable and has the same issues. It's barely usable. Sometimes I get lucky and can scroll for more than 2 minutes. Why hasn't the issue been fixed yet? Sad

Updated my app, and now it won't let me on. Try to log on, and it says the email isn't linked to any accounts. Tried to open a new one, but it says the email is associated with an account already. Apparently, my account was terminated?? Yes, because my paintings of tree frogs and scenic pictures I take of Alaska calls for that. Thanks for absolutely no warning, tumblr!

Ads auto play audio when they're not even visible. There's a huge bot problem and the UX keeps changing from month to month. Features keep getting added that slow down the app and act as general annoyances, such as Tumblr live, instead of fixing user issues and improving the app utility and efficiency. I've had an account since 2012 and the site has never been this bad.

I have an s22+ and this app drains battery absurdly fast, overheats my phone, and lags when I scroll. It also frequently crashes, which makes trying to go down the dashboard a pain because every restart puts you back at the top. The only reason I still use it at this point is because of the community (I've made a lot of friends) and the sunk cost fallacy (I've used the app since 2013 or so). It's in a really bad state though, I really can't recommend it until it gets fixed.

I love the app and some things about it, but I'm having a bit of trouble. Out of nowhere, the app suddenly stopped me from double tapping to like a post, but the disable button is not even on, and when I uninstalled the app twice, it's still not working. So I'm wondering if y'all can see if you're able to fix this problem. Thank you. (Edit-it's fixed now. I don't know how, but I'm happy now)

SUPER buggy now. Consistently after scrolling through a few posts, the entire screen freezes, then twitches for a straight 30 seconds, and then the app closes out. I went to quick-reblog something and the bubbles for my blogs were off to the side where I couldn't actually select them. Pictures in posts show about half the time, if I'm lucky. This app has turned into a dumpster fire.

The new photo viewer is terrible. It hides some content behind the blog name and description and it is far more difficult to view multiple photos in a set. If you accidentally scroll to whatever randomized post you get in the new (also terrible, by the way.) vertical post photo viewer, you will have to scroll ALL the way through to the beginning again. The only thing keeping me on this app is the awesome community that is on this site and the incredibly useful and well designed tag system.

Edit: 9/18/23: now the app sends notifications of lives and if you click on the notification to clear it, instead it take you to the live stream. Which I do not want and have never asked for. Swiping or enlarging pics is broken too Edit 2/10/24: thankfully live is gone. No change to the inability to view or enlarge photos. Ads play at 100% volume as soon as they load, before you scroll to them on the screen, with no way to turn them off.

It feels like the app gets worse with every update. I haven't been able to post photos from my phone for well over two years. Every time I contact them I'm given the same response of delete the app and reinstall it and huh it's still happening? And then silence. Pretty funny that I can't use a social media app to post pictures.

Ive been using this app for at least 10 years, even through all the community policing and policy changes, I stayed with Tumblr. However about a week a go I went to get on the app and it crashes multiple times, always with a " sorry something went wrong error msg, please try back later." It got to the point where I uninstalled the app and reinstalled it... Everyday since I haven't been able to access the site no matter what I do...up to and including clearing my cache. This app has gone to hell!

Probably a common complain but we *need* a feature where we can toggle seeing posts oldest to newest or vise versa. Making it so stupidly complicated with particular links (that don't even work right most of the time) is outrageously pointless. Especially considering a good majority of people use tumblr for ask blogs. I've tried so many times to get it to work and not once has it worked correctly on desktop or otherwise. Something as simple as chronological order shouldn't be so complicated.

New updates suck. Took away the ability to go to a specific point on a person's blog by clicking on the username. A lot of context ends up being lost this way. I don't know why anyone thought this was a good idea. It's useless and does nothing to enhance the Tumblr Experience. This is stuff that impacts UI and it makes using the app a chore.

It's been weeks now and this app doesn't work even remotely well anymore, you can't save pictures at all you always get a "whoops something went wrong" and when you go to report it or ask for help the options are all squished together and impossible to use. This app is horrible and barely works at all. Absolutely abysmal. And looking it up shows that alot of people are having this issue. I also asked tumblr itself and alot of users agree. Please fix it

Getting inconsistent notifications for DMs is infuriating. I'm not one to ignore my friends, so it would be nice if the app did its very simple job and notified me when I get a message. Sometimes it does, but it fails to send a push notification when a DM is received far, FAR too often for my liking. I've checked both settings in my phone and the app, too, so I know this isn't my fault. Edit: dropping this to one star, not even support has answered this one for me

There is some really good things tumblr is doing like keeping likes private. Having more filter options. Ability to pin following. You can follow a vast variety of cool stuff. But here is where it falls off the horse. The app has Ads yes and its 18+ Xrated content. There is also so much X rated content that if you want to avoid your going to have to add a new tag to the filter every 5 seconds. People can be disgusting man. Even on encouraging ya know like inspirational tags has X rated. Its sad.

Been using this app for almost 10 years. Its never been good with the crashes and bugs but recently it's become literally unusable. Not in the "I don't want to use this" way but more like the app itself is begging me not to use it. Everytime I scroll to an ad the screen flashes for a few seconds before crashing which is a real problem when there's an ad every 5 posts. Honestly, this app will never be fixed and never be good. It hasn't gotten better in 10 years.

I actually really like tumblr, I'm on there for like 2 hours a day at least. However the ads are bad when then auto-pause my music and play a loud "feels like a dream" (for temu which f that app. No other videos auto play noise, so why does this have to? I report each loud noisy ad as broken because something has to be for them to just play music. Ads that don't have sound I'm a-ok with, it's just the broken ones that play noise for no reason that I would like changed.

i cannot in good conscience rate this app higher until i am able to save photos and gifs again. this has been like this for months now and it's VERY frustrating. please fix this. another issue i find is that viewing photosets and gifsets is absolutely atrocious. if i zoom in and move the image to the side even slightly too fast, the image automatically changes to the next photo. I want to give this app a higher rating, ive been a user since 2012, but not saving photos is a huge problem.

Rejoice! Tumblr Live is gone! Still, the new photo viewer is atrocious. The photo viewer barely lets you zoom and it's incredibly difficult to scroll between photos. The search function is almost useless; half the time it returns nothing, and it always excludes certain posts for seemingly no reason. Also, the app is a buggy mess on a good day; on a bad day it's completely unusable and genuinely hurts to look at.
