The latest update, which took place on Octobter 25th, absolutely ruined the game. Before, it was a beautiful, simple, charming 8-bit game set during WWI in which you had to cross no man's land to the enemy's base trench or hold the last trench for a set amount of time. Now, it's a disgusting Clash Royale knock off set during WWII. I used to love this game, but the last update turned it into a completely different and abysmal game. There aren't even any trenches, as the name suggests! I uninstalled it after I realized how awful this update was.

This game used to be amazing, it was a great time killer. It was so simple to understand and easy to use. The pixelated art style was completely replaced by this poor excuse of an "update". This new game is not even WW1, nor a "trench assault", as the game's title still suggests. If I were the devs I would be ashamed of what I have done. Bring back the real Trench Assault.

Rarely do I leave reviews, but this is irritating. Game changes without warning from how others describe how it was to something more current, fine. But this game is not pvp (bots instead), and though it seems fun at first, quickly the AI uses a cheat in nearly every match that throws all their troops into one lane, leading to a quick defeat. You lose more points with a defeat than you gain with a win, meaning you start losing ground against your previous efforts with no real way of keeping up.

This latest update makes the game unplayable.. I get as far as the main screen Trench Assault, but then an error pops up that says The game resources cannot be downloaded. Hope ya fix it soon, the update sounds cool. To add to my review I think this game is pretty fun and trying different tactics on opponents with different troops is a big part of it. I have a card idea also: *Trench Foot - when this card is played the opponent can only use vehicle cards for a certain amount of time.

For fear of sounding like the "Old Man who hates change," I really hate the new version of this game. The game use to be a 2D pixel art style game about breaking your enemies defensive line in a World War 1 setting, and had ads after levels. That game was thrown out the window it seems, as now it's a game about putting troopers, represented by cards, into one of three lanes to try entering the enemies base, now depicted in a generic modern military setting, and is loaded with microtransactions.

Edit: Spend money, or suffer in despair. You might be able to win at first, but the more you win, the more screwed you are unless you spend money to try and keep up—the Ad rewards are negligible; strategy be damned. Also, if you've got a limited high-speed data plan and have run out of the speed juice, don't bother watching the Ad if you get one that needs to buffer because you won't be getting your reward after you finally do finish watching it. It skips the selection and restarts the app.

I think you play bots. Maybe not every match but the way it plays has me skeptical. Ive lost literally every other match since the update. Ive also noticed you cant play lan matches anymore. The way you unlock new items also seems like a money grab. You need gold to open more than one box. So there isnt really a point in having slots for more than one box at a time. And the wait to open these boxes are pretty donk. And the victory box refresh is also lengthy. So you can wait a really long time to make minimal progress, or you can pay to win. The way it was before the update was just fine.

I downloaded "this" game a few months ago and it was a cartoony 2d ww1 trench warfare game that I considered very good. I start it up a few months later and it is a completely different game with 3d graphics, modern soldiers, and lootboxes that make this game essentially a multiplayer plants vs zombies. Wth if you are going to release a new game, do not just bait and switch people's games to get downloads. The first game was a masterpiece as it was

I'm not one to complain about graphics, but if you are, you might want to stay away. Onto the meat and potatoes, this game is an entirely free good timekiller that doesn't spam you with microtransaction offers, the gameplay is good but it's also very repetitive. Still, I keep coming back to play this. Edit: -2 stars, unskippable 30 sec ads with no reward

Ever since the update I have been surprised on how fast the game shifted from a retro WW1 battle game into a card game that requires internet. The older version had an interesting style that me and my friends enjoyed and it's sad to see it go away. I was hoping that there is some way the dev could have the old version and this new version as separate games if need be.

I hate when games put in video ads on mobile data. Revised So I've had this game since before online and when it was I a completely different game play. Ended up not being a bad game but these matches last maybe a minute usually. And after every single match there's a 30 second video ad. That's honestly rediculous and I won't play it cause it's just not worth it when you spend so much time in ads

I only played this update for 2 minutes. I really wanted to love this game. I played this when it was in its pixelated form and I loved every moment of it. The pixel-style combined with the very intense moments of trying to take control of the enemy line was so much fun! So when I saw, randomly through my games folder, that the game was updated, I was thrilled! I didn't care about the style overhaul, if anything I considered it a bonus; I assumed it would have been a total remake of the original Trench game. It's not. It's your typical game that involves two currencies, one more valuable than the other, it has crates that take time to unlock, and the animations are lackluster at best. Was the original primitive? Yes. But it worked. It was ORIGINAL. It was FUN. THIS is a total cash grab that I will no longer support. If the developers want to make an actually good game again, ditch the in-app purchase currencies and ditch the crates. Am I against in-app purchases? Absolutely not. But make them worthwhile. Make them expansions to the game that add unique features/settings to the game while keeping the meta. Am I against the style? Absolutely not. But if you're going to "update" the graphics, go all out. Make the animations actually impressive and immersive, not clearly noticeable gifs. It disappoints me that an (albeit pixelated and primitive) game that I had so much fun with turned into a total cash grab.

Fun game, but quickly becomes annoying with the ads after every round. Still, at least they rewarded me for them somewhat, not much, but it was there. Then the ads stopped coming but I was okay with this until I realized that without the ad rewards, I literally could not upgrade or even queue up for the next match. I'm locked out of playing the game until I either pay or one of those loot boxes open after a few hours, and that's only enough for one or two matches. Greed Game. You killed it.

You had such a good game. When I saw that the game had been updated I was excited, what did they add more levels, new units, or a different game mode. Once I opened it I realized after jokingly playing that game that felt like the steryotipical interactive mobile ads that I was playing the game it's self, completely different from what I used to love playing. It doesn't even involve trenches anymore. The gameplay as previously eluded to has been changed drastically to unoriginal, boring, and redundant. Just having the previous game changed to require an online would've been annoying enough but at least it would've still been a good game.

I enjoyed putting a few hours into this game before bed each night, relaxing and using some sense of strategy. Fast forward a few months later when I'm able to get on my phone regularly again, and I don't know what happened, but some huge overhaul was made that nearly made this a different game altogether. Now I'm facing opponents that spam level 12-14 fast moving troops against my level 2 and 3s without any strategy. Can't win anymore, but I don't want to play anymore even if I could win.

The game is phenomenal. However, there's certain units that are far too overpowered. For example, the rocket launcher unit. It claims itself as a legendary (very rare) card but I see everyone have it. I'll deploy literally 2 tanks, snipers and basic info try and that ONE UNIT (of my same rank, mind you) kills ALL of them. It's disgusting. Besides that, the gameplay is amazing and straightforward yet addictive. I'd recommend it. However, there should be a better system of matchmaking besides those medals, it's not very accurate

love the game, the controls are easy but I do have a few things I'd like to see changed. the amount of cash you get per victory is way to low! I'd had to win 800 matches in order to upgrade something that's expensive. the time it takes to open creates is ridiculously long especially for the wooden crates. there's a problem with hackers, like when im in a match the opponent will spam spawn the trenches with vehicles in the first 30 seconds of the game. or switch the lanes and over power you

What happened to the retro graphics and the old gameplay?! I loved it! It all changed in a single update and its now a card collecting game! It lost all its charm! Can this be a seperate game instead of getting rid of the old trench assault? I realize you put a lot of effort into the game and i appreciate the passion, but all of the charm is gone. All the strategy and simplicity of the old game. I miss it.

Didn't play the original incarnation, so this review reflects the latest version. The game design, concept and graphics are all good, but the gameplay is quite deceiving. You are lured into a false sense of success with a slew of new cards, and easy opponents. However, once the gold runs dry, and your lock boxes are less plentiful, you begin to lose the ability to level your cards. On top of this, you begin to lose most of your matches, losing levels, because your opponents conveniently have much higher level cards than you (read: not real players, but A.I. designed to force you to spend). This is a money sink, and not really complex enough of a game to make it worth paying for.

Love the game, only one problem. It keeps saying "No internet connection" randomly at a rate of once every 2 minutes average... I've tried restarting my phone, using mobile data and then using wifi and no matter what I do it keeps acting the same way. I have 4G LTE and mid/top of the line internet service. None of my other games do this. The internet connection issue seems to be more so apart of this game's ability to detect my internet connection. Please look into this. Like I said, love the game. Just wish Icould actually play it. For the record I'm playing on a Galaxy Note 8. 5 stars once this issue is fixed. thanks
