More About Trash Nothing: Free Stuff

Give away your unwanted but reusable items to people in your local community and find freebies that other people are giving away. Everything is always free with no strings attached.
Trash Nothing works through local, volunteer run communities and not every city or town has an active community yet. The most active communities have members like you who help grow their community by telling their friends and family.

Here a just a few of the things you can find (& give away) for free:

books
clothes
furniture
games
electronics
appliances
tools
building materials
food
& much more!

It's easy to use, simply post what you have to give away and request things that you want and other members of the community will contact you if they can help.

Disclaimer:
Trash Nothing supports free item groups from different sites including some of the original freecycle groups that were started on Yahoo Groups over 2 decades ago. But there are many different independent freebie, buy nothing and freecycling groups that are not supported by or affiliated with Trash Nothing.

This hard working group of volunteers have allowed me to obtain appliances, furniture, tools and many other things that have been useful to me and have saved me money. At the same time I have been able to find new homes for things that I have outlived or don't want or need anymore. It is a wonderful community resource. I highly recommend being on their email list.

The old version of the app was good but people were forced to update and was it for functionality? Nope it was only to add ads at the bottom of the screen. Seems the folks at freecycle who once had a dream to stop things going to landfill have now lined their pockets sad really, all sorts of inappropriate ads are showing at the bottom, alas this is what happens when you sell off something that was for the people by the people run by voluntary admins for each borough.

Gave it 2 stars because everything is free. However, ideally I'd give it -2. Miss out on quite a few things, because people are too quick to get rid of stuff. Got a post 2hrs after something was posted, gone. Mailed the person asking if it was not collected could I? Got a really abusive reply saying I should look more often. I don't live on my phone 24/7. Mods should make every post a fair policy post as the norm, so more people can get a chance to ask for something. It's not rocket science

Great app, grouping different recycling groups into one place (Freegle, Freecycle, etc). Easy to use. Don't worry about most bad reviews, these are related to the dealing with other users, not the app itself.

I can't send or receive messages, I've tried contacting trashnothing support but they have done nothing about it! I don't receive messages and if I send messages I get no response. Someone had to send SMS to me that they sent a message to me but I didn't see it. I'm really angry as I have been battling with this for over a month. I feel like I'm invisible when I request an item. Please don't say it's because they receive loads of reply because when I chat them on Freegle they say " no message"

Exactly the same as the old app except there are ads. App collects your data and does not give you the option to opt out of non essential data being taken. This is against the law not to ask people of they wish to opt out. Better to stick to it on the browser where its the exact same as the app but ads and data can be controlled.

Was good until they changed it so you couldn't ask for people to drop off items, I am unable to drive so cannot collect and I have no one to help so I would ask for items to be brought to me and I'd offer to pay for fuel had to delete app after they changed it so you could no longer ask for items to be delivered.

Great app, it does what it says on the tin. Easy to use. One advise: when people are collecting just give full postcode but not your house number untill they're on their way to pick up, to avoid no-show time wasters. Enjoy and keep stuff out of landfills.

I love trash nothing (formerly known as "freecycle" on yahoo groups, yes many a moons ago!)... Fantastic way to pass on your unused / unwanted / no longer required items to someone else. And of course find some great gems. GAdmins are fantastic. Fair policy rules are great. Ability to select maximum distance for your search and / or groups based on areas of location.

Great app for a second life of things you don't need any more. Functionally could be better but hey, it works. People who are giving poor reviews mostly complain about the lack of "good stuff". You are TOTALLY missing the point. People are not giving away £200 iPhones. It's stuff that could be saved from the skip by someone else.

Very useful app. I only had a good experience. People giving free stuff away are very respectful.

currently unable to use this app for the last few days as the page is stuck on loading. I've cleared cache, uninstalled, re-installed, checked updates and still nothing. ***update*** this problem has now been sorted, and I'm now able to use the app again.

Was good but now it takes control of managing when things have been given away. I have only a couple of days to reply to post even when any messages I get just say"pls" or it withdraws the post. It's now changed an item to gifted when I wanted it promised then had a no show. Can't put it back on without advertising it again. Having said that, I do like keeping my messages in one place, but it always had that. Definitely prefer the old version.

Extremely easy to use, never had any issues with it. I like that you can set multiple groups in your area in your profile so they're always easily available.

Great improvements, thank you. It would be helpful to flag users who ignore messages or fail to update item status after promising or giving something away. Ratings should also display separate counts of positive and negative feedback, rather than just a cumulative average, since the current method makes them meaningless.

Great app! it feels great to be able to donate things to people who can use them. It is also allowed me get some gardening supplies.

An absolutely brilliant community and a fantastic idea for an app. Giving it one less star as the newest version has stuck Google ads in the app. I get wanting to make a bit of money off the app, but ads are just annoying to deal with. I would rather pay for an ad-free version (no subscription)

This app itself is fine, but the number of flakes in recent months has skyrocketed, to the point where if somebody says they want to take something there's a 9/10 chance they won't show. I would rather just do a post on the Craigslist free section, or leave something out on the curb. That said, when the app works, and when people show up and participate, it is useful.

Not working. It worked again when I restarted my phone, for a day, but again, it's sitting in a load and never loading, and I have offers pending. When I do get a message they sender also speaks of difficulty with ap all the sudden. I really love and enjoy this when it works, but now it's very frustrating. I shouldn't have to restart my phone every time I try to use it, but I'll try thay again now.

App: Super simple and easy to use. Very effective design. Ads are not intrusive. Kudos to the developer(s). 👏👏👏 Concept: Wonderful. Being able to help people in my community makes me happy, and I love looking at all the neat things people are gifting! Beds, couches, food, tools, toys, decorations, craft supplies, etc. The only downside to this app is that there aren't more people using it! Y'all... It's FREE! If you need something, ask! If you have something, tell!
