No digital tickets are available, with paper tickets still being issued. This shows the poor state of either the stations and/or the app. You also have far less freedom to choose seats on trains then other providers. All in all a poor booking experience for UK rail and a joke compared to other countries.

It's very good for finding fares and train times but that's where it ends. I tried the TV streaming service. It didn't work. The wifi connection was woeful. Don't even bother trying to use it. Stick to using your phone data.

Given some of the reviews detailing problems, haven't even installed it. Sticking with PDFs, saved into Google Drive and Calendar, where I can then make them available offline for those "no signal or WiFi" moments.

It is pretty weird, that i could not login to the account in Germany. So i was investigating this problem and found some comments which guided me to my solution. I had to use british VPN in order to login and get all my tickets. You should do something about this. PS: Anyway, i made a screenshot of all my tickets, in case something would go down.

Terrible app: slow, buggy and often doesn't work at all. Very often doesn't refresh tickets to show or eit a station. Thankfully it also sends a PDF of the ticket by email now. It's easier to find the email and use the PDF than showing the ticket on the app.

The app logs you out far too frequently meaning you have to log in to show tickets after only a few hours and if there's no connectivity you can't get through barriers or show conductor your tickets. The ability to load tickets onto smartcard is good but is infuriatingly unreliable, often taking ten or twenty attempts to read the card and there's no option to check what tickets you have loaded which the Northern app allows you to do. Still needs a lot of improvement.

App doesn't work abroad, and this appears to be a common issue or so I'm told. Customer service agents either don't know what's going on or make excuses that they retract when called out. Oh, and everyone gives different answers. Ticket prices have increased since trying to sort out a simple ticket purchase because of all this. If buying tickets, maybe just use LNER, which has a proper app and remains nationalised.

Awful. You can't purchase more than one ticket in the same transaction; you have to go through everything again. Who designs this stuff? Customer service response: '...suggest putting one through first and then the next rather than trying to do both at the same time.' Yeah never thought of that, thanks. Joke of a company.

Absolute rubbish. I've given this app the benefit of the doubt time after time......installing uninstalling over and over again with hope that I can book my regular train journeys with ease. I can never sign in properly.....im constantly being asked to spot walkways....bicyles....traffic lights etc etc.....walkways !!!!! Please, it's pavements.....were in the UK. Had enough, and the app has clearly not been looked after.......Im OUT 👋

Frequently logs me out, sometimes needing to log in again every day or even multiple times per day. Sometimes app fails to log in, meaning I can't access etickets while on the train! This would mean I get a penalty fare even though the app is at fault. Two stars instead of one because the interface is quite good, and it's easy to earn nectar points. But the sign in issues are infuriating and potentially could cause major problems if I can't access my tickets on the train or station.

When it works it's OK. But too often it logs you out for no reason and often prevents you buying tickets because of mysterious technical problems. Also sometimes doesn't show your ticket and you have to rely on the email confirmation. Really buggy, and just brings unnecessary stress to travelling.

I thought the purpose of this application was to facilitate the purchase of tickets. it doesn't. It just fails to connect to the booking engine. I have tried over several days. I've tried TPE website and failed to obtain tickets. I've tried to book through the National Rail application and failed to get tickets. Perhaps they will condescend to sell me a ticket at the station? And if I eventually manage to travel, I hope the experience will be better than the appalling journey on TPE in December.

Great idea but with some irritating features. Doesn't seem to allow login and download of e tickets while away from wifi, continually get a generic message about not being able to complete my request. When I get my tickets it seems to randomly log me out and demand that I log in again to get them. Logging in and out seemed to be cleared up but now it's logging out regularly again and asking me to login again to refresh my tickets, its incredibly irritating. Still one star for this.

It keeps logging you out and then you lose your tickets. Hardly any use if you need them and don't have a network connection. Why can't it save the tickets, or let me add them to Google Pay? -- UPDATE: The app now has a Add To Google Wallet option, but it doesn't work! I just get 'Ticket failed to add' error.

Not normally a train user, thought I'd use the app to get a e ticket to save time and waste. Booked via the app, registered, made payment but, no ticket or confirmation email. Still managed to still take my money though... Fingers crossed the guard understands tomorrow otherwise I'll have to fork out again for another ticket. Marvelous

It's so difficult to buy a ticket on app. Secondly you can't ever add your nectar card points automatically if you lucky enough to purchase your fare on the app. The desktop version is okay. At least they allow you to buy a ticket. I couldn't find nonstar options to rate otherwise I would rate non star. Frankly it waste your room in your smart phone.

Why are these apps so hopeless to use. You cannot mix mtickets and paper tickets. The number of buttons to press to get one ticket is large. It is quicker to by you ticket at the station! Well this is now updated in January 2017 and is even worse than before. Buy using a PC or your local station. As of Jan 2022 this is still awful. Unable to buy tickets due to technical error MO.

Some improvement in latest update, but the app no longer remembers your card details so have to be re-entered. This despite there being a tick box for 'remember card details' (minus security code) on previous page. Very annoying. Don't give customers option of saving the details and then ignore their choice.

App used to be terrible but recent updates have drastically improved. No longer crashes all the time and booking tickets is straight forward. I would like to be able to book multiple journeys in one transaction, or at the very least not be forced to wait 3 mins between ticket purchases, so loses a star for that...

As bad as it gets. So bad that the in app feedback/support contact has been turned off. Sad thing is it used to work well! Last couple times its taken payment and not had an e ticket in the wallet, had to call them and sort both times, now I've reinstalled and it won't load at all! Awful, avoid Edit: went back, even worse, technical issue prevents booking
