The game is mostly auto battle, not much depth. The story is nothing impressive. The translation is terrible. I tapped a thing labeled "free trial" that asked for $21 to keep it. A thing labeled "reward" seemed to consume in-game currency to acquire. It also reuses some animation from the Northern War anime, but the art clashes with the game, and I couldn't even recognize some characters as the same. The battle animations have some effort at least. I couldn't even stand it for an hour.

If you're familiar with the Trails/Kiseki series, you might expect a slow burn, or lots of dialog, or something that establishes a foundation upon which narrative and character development is built. This game opens with an abrupt tutorial, sparse lines of dialog, incredibly bad English, and a smattering of clips from the anime sans subtitles. Some of the 3D models look off. And it's basically another idle game. Skip it.

After an hour, all I gotta say is the English translation is pretty poor. There are errors all over the game including dialogue, character bios, the "title" of characters, the list goes on. Gameplay is pretty standard mobile gacha gameplay so far. I'll stick with it awhile as a F2P player, but only because it's my favorite game series. Edit: dropped to 2 stars after putting up with it longer, probably will drop another and the game itself before long. If you care about the story watch the anime.

Just ONCE, I would like to see a game developer care more about connectivity than graphics. This game LAGS, and I get an idiot message popping up constantly says "No connection with Google play store, try again at at another time." Like five times a second. Really appealing seeing that blinking while I'm trying to make any progress at all. Uninstalling.

I like it so far, the graphics are great and the art work too. Lots of things to do. I have yet to draw anything over a SR still but that will come. I am having a problem though, when I click on my picture on the upper left hand side to change my name and picture, it freezes and closes out. Every. Single. Time. It's very frustrating, I dont want to be new jaeger forever.

The tutorial for this game feels a bit overexplained and I am extremely upset at the massive amount of grammar and translation issues that make the game feel cheap as it makes it difficult to understand the story. The animated scenes also lack subtitles at all for the English audience and given that the audio for this game is completely in Japanese, it makes it difficult to watch said cutscenes without a passing familiarity of the original language.

The game makes you go through the most barebones tutorial while annoying you with awful mechanics. You don't even really play the game, it plays itself while you watch what goes on. This is literally as bad if not worse than the anime that Northern War got. If you want a real Trails experience, just buy the mainline games. They're very accessible and not expensive at all. Don't waste your time on this awful half-assed content.

I enjoy the Trails series and want to see more entries come to the West, but this presentation and format take a deep cut at it. Autobattle combat with speedup locked behind VIP. Translations that are shoddy at best and completely wrong at worst. Predatory monetization between bundles, phantom discounts, gachas, multiple premium currencies, skins, and more. This game is a 1:1 rehash of the anime for the main story, but it's more rewarding to watch the anime.

I'm a huge fan of the Trails series, and this game is such a disappointment. Incorrect character names, bad translations, typos everywhere... There was clearly no attention paid at all when making this game. And I could look past all that if the game was fun to play, but it's just not that enjoyable. Game modes are repetitive, the style feels very outdated, and it tries too hard to sell you content. This game is not very friendly to F2P players, and it's not fun enough to spend real money on.

I expected better things from a Trails of cold steel game... It's easily my favorte RPG series, but this mobile game is a mess. Not only is it just a standard copy/pasted whalable gatcha game (I thought it'd be better), the translation feels like it was done by an AI most of the time, gameplay is boring, and everything's expensive. Just go buy the series on steam instead of spending your money here

Asking for a review very early, bad look. A little "switch and bait" tactics employed. Translation not finished to English yet. Settings don't stick sometimes even after "save". Turned off sound 4 times. Monetization is average to slightly pushy. Gameplay is good. Less control than E7 or SW. Graphics are SUPER crisp on S24 Ultra. Great job. Translation is confusing forcing trial and error mechanics to be used. Will update

As a fan of this series, this game is a huge dissapointment. multiple characters have the wrong name or title. the animated cutscenes doesn't play half the time. And despite the fact that the trails series have some of the best turn based combat in the genre, you decided to use an afk style of combat where just watch the game be played for us. I don't see fans of the series or newcomers sticking around for this game if you can even call this outdated garbage a game.

A fun game, when it works. There are numerous bugs throughout, from following the prompt of the guide and getting stuck on an event because the "boss is already defeated" and unable to hit the confirm button, to random freezing on load screens or losing connection to the servers. The developers need to fix the bugs or else this games become unplayable.

Editx36: Not going to just let my review keep being deleted(x36) when the problem isn't fixed yet. Still Unable to clear tutorial as it teaches how to reposition your troops. When you slide character to designated position, nothing happens, it just snaps back. Since tutorial locks out any other controls it is impossible to advance past this point. Less important since it is still early, conversation translations seem rushed, or AI translated.

Translation is horrendous. Gameplay is half decent but monotonous. It's a good nostalgia trip for Trails fans. If they work on the translation and patch that in it would get more stars. The UI is extremely clunky. Feels like a UI from 4 or 5 years ago. Also, monetized very poorly, very much a cash grab. I'm surprised Falcom approved this game. I had to edit this after uninstalling because it just kept getting worse. Literally the only good thing it has going for it is the graphics.

I like the game but somethings about it already bugging me or erking me. The game keeps crashing randomly... Need to fix that. 2nd thing is, lack of progressing. I have to wait to get xp and other mats just to upgrade the hero unit and you cap us at a specific story part progression. That's not cool. Should not be forcing us to buy any sort of level up progress. But instead I have to wait a couple of days or so just to prog chapter 6 area. Please do better, especially more pulls on the banner.

Love the series but this games just alright... There's WAY too much monetization, it's unclear how to receive any of the launch bonuses (like Tita's Christmas outfit), and instructions/guides in game aren't exactly clear on how to do pretty much anything, so you kinda have to just play it by ear. Playing it more, the translation is abhorrent with misspellings, wrong names, wrong titles, inconsistent terminology etc. Only real plus is the series' music and costume art.
