More About Torque Pro (OBD 2 & Car)

See what your car is doing in realtime, get OBD fault codes, car performance, sensor data and more!
Torque is a vehicle / car performance / diagnostics tool and scanner that uses an OBD II Bluetooth adapter to connect to your OBD2 engine management / ECU

Layout your own dashboard with the widgets / gauges you want!

It can use the GPS to provide tracker logs with OBD engine logging so you can see what you were doing at any point in time

It can also show and reset a DTC / CEL / fault code like a scantool. Helps you fix your car and helps keep repair costs down!

Torque also features:

* Dyno / Dynomometer and Horsepower/HP & Torque
* Can read Transmission Temperatures (vehicle dependant)
* 0-60 speed timings - more accurate than just using plain old GPS - see how fast your car is (or truck )
* CO2 emissions readout
* Customisable dashboard & profiles
* Video your journey using the Track Recorder plugin with onscreen OBDII data overlay - a black box for your car/truck!
* Automatically send GPS tagged tweets directly to twitter (for example if you are going on a road trip)
* Massive fault code database for lookup of fault codes from different manufacturers
* Theme support (choose from different themes to change the look of your dashboard)
* Send logging information to web or email CSV/KML for analysis via excel / openoffice reader
* Heads up display / HUD mode for night time driving
* Compass (GPS Based) that won't suffer magnetic interference
* GPS Speedometer/Tracking and realtime web upload capability - see what you were doing and your engine, at a point in time
* Turbo boost feature for vehicles that support MAP and MAF sensors (VW & Golf / Audi / Seat etc supported)
* Alarms and warnings (for example if your coolant temperature goes over 120C whilst driving) with voice/speech overlay
* Car dock support
* Graph data
* MPG
* Able to share screenshots to Facebook, Twitter, Google+, Email, etc
* AIDL API for third party apps, A simple Telnet interface for developers to talk to the adapter, and an OBD scanner.
* Works on tablet devices like the Motorola Xoom, Dell Streak, Samsung Galaxy Tab and Nook

Works on any vehicle that uses the OBD 2 standard (most vehicles built after 2000, but can work for vehicles as far back as 1996) if in doubt check with your manufacturer first or look for 'OBD2' on written on a big white label in your engine bay

Works on vehicles made by Ford, VW, GM/Vauxhall/Opel, Chrysler, Mercedes, Volkswagen, Audi, Jaguar, Citroen, Peugoet, Skoda, Kia, Mazda, Lexus, Subaru, Renault, Mitsubishi, Nissan, Honda, Hyundai, BMW, Toyota, Seat, Dodge, Jeep, Pontiac and many more vehicle makes, European, US, Far East, etc. Some vehicle ECUs may support more/less features than others

The app needs a Bluetooth OBD2 adapter to work. The adapter is small and plugs into the diagnostics socket on the car which gives your phone access. You can find a list of adapters on: http://torque-bhp.com/wiki/Bluetooth_Adapters (Garmin EcoRoute HD adapters not supported)

If you buy one of the cheap china OBD2 ELM327 bluetooth adapters from ebay / amazon, then make sure you have a good returns policy with the seller

Some of the best reliable OBD2 / OBD adapters are the Scantool.net adapter, the OBDKey, and PLX Devices, OBDLink, Bluetooth, ELM327 and other adapters are supported - search on google for them

More features added every release - there are forums at http://torque-bhp.com/forums/ - if you want something added then let me know and I'll try to add it if it is possible! Vehicle ECUs vary in the amount of sensors supported

*PLEASE NOTE* Any reports of hanging or reboots after quitting the app is due to a bug in HTC devices and Galaxy Tab,this can be triggered by using the Pandora/Vlingo/Other BT apps. Disabling Pandoras new bluetooth settings fixes the problem, but HTC/Samsung need to release a fix.Please contact their support and request a fix,Thanks!

Torque is a fantastic application for monitoring your vehicles data, troubleshooting issues, diagnosing DTCs on the fly, and even monitoring things like IAT2 on supercharged engines. There is just one fatal flaw that keeps Torque from being great, you can't choose where you export layouts, it puts them in a root-level directory non-rooted phones have difficulty getting to, and there's no central repository to download them from or a file-extension-association to import them automatically.

I bought this app for an android phone, but I can't get some of the functions to work. In the 'Test Results' part of the app, the menu button doesn't appear at the top of the screen, so I have no way to access the O2 data graph feature. I also have this app on an android tablet and it has the menu button at the top of the page. This is very annoying, because the O2 data graph is one of the best features. There's a similar issue in the 'Graphing' section of the app. Please fix this.

Good, useful OBD II app. I'm largely happy with this for my use. The one thing I have found that I don't like is the compass. Most compasses show you as a static needle or pointer and the direction indicator moves around you. In this app north is always shown in front of you while the needle moves to point to the direction of travel. This is confusing.. It would be very helpful to have this as an option that could be changed.

I have been using this app for a number of years on Samsung phones and it works great even with the cheap chinesium OBD-II bluetooth scanner from Amazon. I know from doing investigations into the different models of readers that some of them don't work very well and that you have to make sure you get one with a legitimate chipset or it will be slower than the more expensive models. I have tested this with 3 different readers and never had issues with the app itself.

Great Program but missing specific manufacturers extra sensors. Other apps ARE able to do that in many cases. *That being said*: This is still my favorite code reader. Why? It's clear presentation of data, easy customizing of said data, and absolutely INCREDIBLE customer support is without equal (I got a response back same day in Saturday once).

Great experience, ive been using this app for YEARS 2016-2017 ish. A word of advice, if you're having adapter issues. Try a different brand of adapter. A lot of people blame this app, but every time I've had an issue, it's been the cheap Bluetooth obd2 adapters that have flooded Amazon and Ebay. Do yourself a favor and spend the cash and buy a known good brand obd2 adapter

Will drain you battery fast, but I guess it's just a trade off for gobbling so much data and being BT intensive with the device; I'm ok with that. On a laptop, you probably won't have a problem, but then, you wouldn't be here, would you ? Works fine the BAFX 34t5 Bluetooth OBDII, and probably with all others. After a few days, I have to edit my review: my phone started rebooting like crazy, I wiped the cache partition but it only got back in shape when I uninstalled Torque Pro. 10/2018 - Update after 1 year, 6 months.... having a hard time connecting to the device. It just says "Connect to the ECU first" - I already unpaired and paired the dongle (BAFX Products) and no luck... seems random because a couple days ago, working just fine. This needs some sort of connection diagnostic to help figure out what is wrong instead of blaming on the hardware... I know, conversely the device maker will blame on the software :-/ In May/2021, it still sucks at connecting and once it is there in that state, forget... I went with another OBD software and worked right away, even better, it had "Emissions test" which was what in dire need.

Incredibly annoyed with this. I had been using the lite version and liked it. Wanted to see what other options I'd get if I bought it. Well that was the wrong choice. I downloaded and installed it...now nothing works. It won't connect to my car. I've tried everything. Restarting the app, restarting my phone, unplugging the odb2 reader, multiple tries in different orders. I've gone to settings and tried fixing it through there. I even tried using the lite version again and it won't work.

App works pretty well. A lot of options to go through. Once you get through them I was able to program app use an old phone to display my BMW engine data. BMW doesn't have gauges for water temperature and other data. Proper setup options phone turns on with ignition, app displays data, and when ignition is turned off the phone goes back to sleep.

This is a great app that works with my Bluetooth obd2 reader. I liked the lite version so much I paid for the pro version. It's very customizable and a great tool. I just hope that the devs get an update out soon for Android 10. I'm getting a message when I open the app that says it may not function in my version. It seems to be fine, but I haven't really went into it much.

Useful but can be better. I like the pitch meter and the roll meter for off road driving. However, both meters can be more useful if we can set the zero point. After all, nobody can have cellphone in vertical position. Also like the compass. However, it currently always shows the north on the top. I think it is more straight forward to show current direction on the top.

From great to nah in 2.9 seconds. Used to be a great, now it doesn't work. It won't connect to OBD2 scanner anymore. Tried it on different cars thinking that maybe my old scanner died and nothing. Got a new scanner and wouldn't connect to it either. I decided to try a different app and everything worked on the other app. What are you doing? This was a great app and you let it fall. Pick it up and make it great again. Note 10+

Excellent generic app. The gauges make monitoring sensors to localize system faults safe (while driving) and easy. My only problem with Torque Pro is that it's a bluetooth hog. I've used it on three phones now. On all of them, even after closing the app and throwing it off the stack, it still hangs onto the bluetooth, interferring with subsequent connections (like a headset). To stop this behavior, you have to reset your phone -- which is annoying if you're in the middle of things.

Been using the app for years and I love it. But after the android update about a year ago, I've had issues with the recorded trip logs. All aspects work except for the boost reading. On the map, half of the trip is just black. Not color coded like it should be. When I zoom in, it still displays the correct values but just not the correct color. No other type of value (speed, rpm, temp, etc) has this issue.

Great program, very useful and somewhat configurable with add-ons. So far the main thing I would like fixed is the ability to associate a particular OBD reader to a vehicle profile. I have 3 different readers in 3 different vehicles and have to find the correct reader for the profile from the list of ALL bluetooth devices. Failing the ability to associate a reader to a vehicle, give us the ability to "name" the BT reader in the list instead of only viewing the MAC address. Thank you for the program Ian! Keep up the great work!

It used to be great, but the latest update has messed up the ability to have custom dashboard layouts for different vehicles. I use Torque Pro to check all of the family vehicles (mine & wife's, kids', in-laws'), but once I connect to a different vehicle, the entire dashboard layout disappears and I have to recreate every screen. Every time. This is simply not acceptable.

Ive owned and used this app for a few years now and it is fantastic. I have an old phone mounted in car,thru the app it turns on and off with the key,it works flawlessly. To all the people saying it doesnt work...you have to set it up properly,and for that you need to research and learn some stuff. This app is wonderful, i have every gauge i ever wanted plus more, i can really monitor my engine every day, and codes pop up instantly when they happen and you know what it is...exactly. Fantastic!!!

EDIT: finally, belatedly, the issues with this app blocking its use on Android 11 are fixed. Aside from the long delay in fixing this, it is very useful albeit with some questionable UI decisions. On balance it gets five stars, just, because of the number of OBD features it supports out of the box, but some sort of UI update would be nice. Feature support is outstanding, much better than most.

Love this app! Very user friendly. I can customize the gauges to watch what's going on while my truck regens. I highly recommend this app. Only problem I've had is since the last update my BiScan predefined pids work on startup and then stop working within about 30 seconds most times. Other times they're fine. I generally have to reboot my phone to get them to stay on. But even that dosen't always work. Any idea what is going on? I have a Samsung Galaxy S9+. Still highly recommend this app btw.

Very Basic scanner with ability to show icons gauges of some parameters. Extra features via plug-ins cost $5.99 extra for each car brands plugin. I went to pay and download the plugin for enhanced Toyota brand cars but the Google play store said it is "...not available for this device!" a Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 4 with latest Android update. what a waste of my time, effort and money.
