I've been subscribed for 7 months now, I love reading the finance news and find the reporting on a higher caliber. The app can still use improvement on many fronts, for instance the way it connects to the web, some articles will just take you online which sucks, I have an app because I want an app version! The search engine is pretty inaccurate, I don't get why it won't just return any keyword, simply by c/p the headline. I should be able to find anything by searching a word or 2.

The app is alright. It scrolls well and searching by byline goes about as well as one can hope, meaning not well at all. The gripe that led to this review is that articles have a random chance of opening not in the app, but through the in-app web browser. When this happens, there's no option to save articles and sometimes I am prompted to subscribe/login to read the article, which takes me back to the app which then opens the article online and so the article remains unread. Unacceptable.

Overall the app is good and the content is better than most. However the subscription plan is frustrating. I subscribed for one price then one year later the price doubles and I had to call (can't cancel online) and "do the dance" and threaten to cancel. Then they offered a lower price, limited time. I am tired of have to call every year and beg.

There is almost always a message telling me there was an error loading an article, even when the article successfully loads. The messages is imposed over the article as I scroll, which makes it annoying as I scroll through. I also am not a fan of how the sections are organized. Glad I only played $1 for a two month trial. MSN Money is way better.

They have eliminated the option to see the full paper. None of the pricing is available. This only shows the articles and, because you don't see the full paper, I have no idea if the application provides all the articles. Considering my local paper does provide that information for well under half the annual price of the WSJ I am very disappointed. However, they solve the weird thing of making you hunt down the full article which I used to have to do before the "upgrade".

After all this time you'd think that the app would be able to correctly do simple things like open an image/illustration so that you could examine it closely. The app tries to do that, but all you get is a blank page. I assume the function works on some devices, but it sure doesn't work on mine, which is a modern and popular phone, the pixel 6A. There's other stuff like this. Wake up Wall Street journal

Would leave 0 stars if that were possible. Have never been able to get the app to allow me to sign in, even after following every piece of advice about re-installing, device configuration, etc. Absolute trash app if you have to work that hard just to sign into it. I have no issues signing into WSJ on my desktop via web browser, so the app is definitely the problem.

I signed up for a three month introductory offer but was charged full price after the first month. Checked my account, Surprise! There's no billing history, or plan breakdown, or indication of upcoming payment schedule. You can't even unsubscribe online, it isn't even among the menu options, you have to google to find the phone number. Also, why send notifications for an article and not have that notification bring you to the actual article?

This app doesn't work, and customer service is dismal. I can't log in...it says that my email is not in the system, even though I can log in on the browser version just fine. I have emailed customer service and get canned responses that make it clear that no one actually read the email. Do better, wsj. I have uninstalled and reinstalled, checked for the latest version, restarted my phone, but for some reason, my email isn't working.

I can't find an option to unsubscribe ANYWHERE. I can subscribe. Renew. But not cancel. Further, it states that my subscription has expired. YET, it's been withdrawing subscription fees. In addition, it doesn't recognize any of my identifying info as being valid - but, I'm able to log in, and my name pops up on the app and website. Seems pretty shady. I'll try calling customer service next week.

I like the layout and navigation within the app. However, opening articles from notifications is consistently problematic. There are often cases where you are required to sign in. Or now, the article does not always load, instead just a white screen. Issues with notifications are just far too common and should not continue to occur.

STILL haven't fixed the DAILY sign-in issue. Pretty pissed. I need to sign in on the same device nearly every day. WTH? Also, when I save an article on my phone, that action does not sync to my tablet. One of my main reasons for wanting to save the article on my phone is to read it more comfortably later on my tablet! Also, what is the point of having a share button in the app if it does not unlock the article for non-subscribers to read?

Update: App continues to crash and fails to load an article. The news is great, but the app has some issues. "Followed" authors and saved articles aren't saved to your account, so are deleted if reinstalling the app or moving to a new device. Very annoying. I also experience a common issue where the app takes you back to the top of the news section after backing out of an article, requiring you to scroll all the way back down to your place. Some articles also don't give to save to favorites.

I have had an online subscription to the WSJ for fifteen years. I'm about to drop it. With every other app on my phone, I only have to log into the app ONCE, when I set up a new phone. The WSJ app consistently and persistently forgets logins, requiring me to log in over and over again. It is very annoying and unacceptable. The FT app remembers my login -- I'm about to switch to FT full time.

... difficult to do a simple search. I see a phrase or idea in the hard copy, and may want to save it or email it. One cannot just search. The person paying for this experience (me) must start wading through the app version of the paper (even the today's edition version) page by page or section by section to finally find the same article in the app version. To me, the WSJ management has a bizarre and incomprehensible view of how people use the web and the paper. Search Dan neil.

Terrible experience trying to cancel (not possible from app). For some reason the WSJ app does not let you cancel your subscription. I had to calling (the only way to cancel) and talk to someone for 10 minutes. Now instead of canceling for a few months while away WSJ has lost me for life. It is 2019, we put a car in space, we should be able to cancel a ****ing subscription on an app rather than having to CALL some call center! Get with the times.

I'd like the ability to turn off the notification that "today's paper has been downloaded". It's the worst part of my morning, as it feels like such a self serving rather than user focused notification. You have two OS level notification channels of very similar name. Please make a feature to filter out your opinion section. You can still publish it, just please help me to never have to see it. It is the biggest thing causing my wife to ask that we not renew.

The WSJ app never works, which makes my subscription a total waste of money since I'm rarely on my desktop PC when I need to access articles. Every time I click a WSJ article in Twitter, the app gives me nothing but the spinning arrow. The only way I can get to an article is by searching for it in a web browser, so I usually have to give up rather than waste time trying to find it that way. WSJ is the only one of dozens of apps/links I have this issue with so it is definitely the app.

I like the WSJ and am a long-time subscriber. This app was good for years, but in recent months the its performance and functionality have gone downhill. 1) When I click on an article headline, it inexplicably takes minutes to load. Used to be almost instantaneous. This is unusable. 2) No ability to copy/paste snippets of text anymore. 3) No ability to view comments sections that I can plainly see on a browser version of the same article. This is all terribly disappointing.

Generally solid with some issues or missing features. Biggest missing feature: no dates shown next to links. It's hard to know if something is interesting if it might be new or many weeks old. Occasionally, the app launches the browser repeatedly, each time going back to the app (apparent bug). There is no way to mark an article as read and I have to try to remember what I have read.
