The audio player of this app is very buggy. The audio just stops randomly every couple of minutes, saying "audio player is not able to read this data". It also loses track of where you were in the episode, really annoying. If you're going to release podcast episodes early on your own app at least makes sure it works properly.

I'm on the newest version of the app and the "saved articles" function just doesn't work – you save something, and it never shows up in the list. Also, audio articles constantly crash and stop playing. This has been a persistent issue since day one, very disappointing. I get that Android is not a priority, but this really shouldn't be happening. The content (when I can access it) is 10/10.

Broken app. Top Stories is completely blank. The only way to use the app right now is if I search for each individual story, by name. I even reinstalled it, and it still doesn't work.

I paid my sub on March 2nd. The app worked well at first but now refuses to load. So I am closing it and reopening.

A horrible, horrible app for an otherwise excellent magazine. There are too many bugs and problems with the app to list them here, but the latest gem is that the app asks me to download Chrome to read an article.

works well enough for the essential but still a tiny tiny font and no larger font size choice? and despite frequent use of the app, I have to log back in far too often.

Simply doesn't work well. Top stories won't load on the landing page. The magazine page times out and crashes nine times out of ten. I've force stopped, deleted the app, rebooted my phone, reloaded the app, etc. and no go. Pretty frustrating as a paying customer.

Scammy practice, cancellation nightmare. I've been on the phone with customer service since the online account did not have the cancellation option. Main office and Magazine dept passed me back and forth like a pingpong ball, both unable to cancel my account.

A Rich Reading Experience for Curious Minds The New Yorker app brings the magazine, commentary, fiction, and cartoons right to my fingertips. The layout is clean and easy to navigate, and I love how well the typography suits long-form reading. Offline reading is a huge plus, and the audio versions of select articles are a thoughtful touch for on-the-go listening. Daily crossword and puzzles add fun.Overall, this app is a must-have if you're a fan of intelligent writing and beautifully stories.

Suddenly I'm unable to access the app on my Google phone. I'm being told it needs to be updated on the app store site but when I go there I can't find a single update button of any kind. I've been a subscriber since 1970 and I can't understand why I don't seem able to update the app for my phone or read the magazine online. We still get our paper copies, but I like to check bits and pieces out in between the arrival of issues. Please give me some precise information for reinstalling the app on m Thank

An initially good app that is getting worse and worse. Some features are apparently unusable without installing a separate browser, crashes are becoming more and more frequent, and the app keeps telling me to sign in to use it despite the "account" section telling me that I am already signed in and my subscription is active. These issues have worsened since a previous review and app support was unhelpful. A mobile browser provides a better experience without the friction and failures of the app.

Constantly asking me to login and subscribe when I click on an article. Greatly appreciate the ability to listen to articles but there's no point if the app doesn't recognize my subscription status. If I can't listen to articles, I won't read them. TNY will not gain a print subscriber by making the Android app suck. Maybe I'll just put my investment toward The Atlantic instead. Get better at this, New Yorker.

Used to work, in the clunky way described by many reviewers, until June '25 update. This was forced on me & it hasn't worked since. Reached out for help & was urged to download again: "we know of issue & have addressed it". They haven't. Same problem following ALL recommendations (shut down, restart, clear cache, etc...) so finally giving up. I'm a full paid subscriber who now can't get what I've paid for. Same ol' - a working app gets an 'update' that crashes the thing. Will they ever learn?

Continuously puts me into a login loop. I flick an article, and I'm presented with the login page. No matter how I go through the login process, I'm told I am already logged in. But then it brings me back to the login page when I click on any article. This happens a lot. Don't pay for this if you are planning on using your phone to read it. You're just buying frustration.

Android users had to wait forever for an app, and this one is as bad as they come. I'm a subscriber that tends to save articles on the browser. Do they show up anywhere on the app? Nope! The browser version also includes audio versions of select articles. Does this app have audio versions? Nope! If this is the best they can do, they shouldn't have bothered.

Like their content but the app is garbage. Became a subscriber but have to use the website. The Font in the app is so small one needs a magnifying glass to read the stuff! And no way to change the font size. Will test for 4 weeks and if using the website is too cumbersome, I'm going to cancel subscription. Build an app that is actually usable!

The worst app I've ever paid for. I've been happily reading the magazine for over 20 years and if I didn't have stacks of half read issues all over I wouldn't have bothered with with the app but the portability and bookmark features seemed ideal. I have to re log in constantly, even after I just logged in. I haven't seen a cartoon or puzzle in years. They don't work on android. And I can't get any access any way on a kindle. You'd think the publishing industry would try to help themselves.

Seriously lacking in the kind of navigational functionality you would expect. The only buttons are for top stories, magazine issues, audio, saved stories, or search. There is absolutely no way to navigate to particular categories like you can on the website. If, for example, you wanted to use the app to play an older crossword, your only option is to search for the word crossword and hope the dates one you want pops up.

I have a feeling the team prioritizes Apple when making fixes and rolling out new features. I'm a longtime print subscriber and would LOVE to use the app more but literally cannot. The search doesn't work (when I try to find an article I read in print to share with someone), there is no way to access the crosswords (except via email) and progress doesn't save, and more ... please remember about your Android users, even if it's a smaller percentage.

Love the New Yorker, subscriber for decades. Searching within the app for an old story by author or title is useless. It's easier to Google search with keywords, find what you are looking for, then click into the app. For a long piece, if you pause reading midway, the app resets to the current homepage, you lose your place, and have to begin again. Paper is the superior technology.
