The Guardian app is reliably fast and includes many useful tools which help the user expedite searching and reading. The formatting for the mobile device screen size has worked flawlessly on my iPhone and Android screens. The app, thankfully, is not a battery drain and won't make your phone heat up while in use. As to the quality of content, I can't say enough about the thorough, unbiased and accurate reporting presented by The Guardian. One of my top 3 go-to sources of trustworthy news.

I like the app a lot. It's well made and easy to navigate, despite the paywall for the live and discovery sections. My problem is with the articles themselves. These guys are so anti-police that every time there's a police shooting, they edit the body camera footage down to a few second, ignoring ALL the context of the situation, and just leave out all sorts of stuff about the incident itself.

The content is mostly good. Some of the opinion pieces are very suspect though. $10 per month is not worth it though. Time to move on after the pay wall... Ads not enough anymore? As much as you can opt out of tracking, the trackers are still there. I'm not sure how that works. Stick to the browser if you want to read news and protect yourself from the trackers through your browser.

I would like to participate in the comment section for some articles. This requires that my email be verified. The problem is that whenever I am prompted to verify my email, and accept the prompt, the app crashes. Every time. This is very annoying to me, but otherwise, the app is my favorite news app of all time, in terms of presentation.

Not better than web. The interface is fine, but I can't open articles in new tabs, and signing in is a little clunky. I'll just use the web version, which is already pretty nice in mobile. (Similar for the daily version; I can't really tell what the benefit would be, and sign in didn't sync between them so I'd have to find and enter my digital subscriber ID again.) Plus, I'm always annoyed by a prompt to review (though I appreciated the explicit questions about notifications when setting up).

This app delivers what may be the world's best source for entertainment, photojournalism, food, comedy, fashion, and hard news. A great feature is the "save," which allows you to go back and read or re-read an article or recipe. You can also choose what kind of article subject matter you want to see pop up. There is a share feature that works. The search feature seems to work as intended. It keeps getting better; I haven't noticed any glitches recently. Highly recommend!

I love the syncing of saved articles. I had to delete the app and redownload it, and was pleasantly surprised to find all my saved articles still there. There's still an issue on the comment platform with some comments not appearing on the app version, and I still haven't received an explanation as to why the app doesn't tell me my comments are being premoderated but the website does.

Still excellent coverage of U.S. news, as well as EuroZone. Feature and in-depth pieces are, well, sterling. New version still beats the competition. UI is easy to use without being gimmicky. Guardian delivers high quality news before other apps 9 times out of 10. Consistently top-notch news writing is always worth reading. Consistent high quality journalism in new version. Always worth top-to-bottom reading.

It works extremely well. The news has a different viewpoint than American apps. I read this an the New York times daily. I find the guardian more informative. Also, no problem using app, I experience repeated problems loading the times. I cancelled my subscription to the times for that reason. I plan on subscribing to the Guardian. It is an excellent source of news.

Previous version worked well. This one just crashes. Addition: tried two different tablets; it crashes on both. There was nothing wrong with the old app: now you have sacrificed functionality for the sake of flashy form. Update: looks like something got fixed - better now. Still not as good as the old version though... On a faster phone, much better, Beware users of old phones!

Great app. Timely news, good graphics, excellent content. I like that I can bookmark articles, download if desired, and search by category or region. The Guardian has been diligent in creating a model of reader-funded journalism, which is an unfortunate byproduct of the destruction of local news, but I'm happy to support excellent journalism at this reasonable monthly rate. UPDATE: Regarding app functionality - I really dislike that there is no search function!! Removing 1 star.

The app doesn't get in the way of reading the news, and in fact makes it quite convenient to do so. Smooth, quick. Plus, the Guardian is a really good paper, one that not only reports on a lot of events but also very significantly keeps What Happened in one article and What I Think About It in a separate one. Recipes and other human-interest pieces are generally very interesting and well written, and provide links for further research and primary sources (e.g. Lancet) where applicable.

1. The interface is definitely sleeker than the old version, but much harder to customise. It is much harder to find articles. Going back to a list view would be better as there would not be as much scrolling. 2. I understand the need for ads. They aren't that intrusive. 3. I hate reading this grey font on a white surface. Aug 2018 update: much better than before. Mar 2022 update: Font is r easier to read now. Great app. 6 stars.

Well ever since the AP's app shot itself in both feet, I've been using the Guardian's and so far mostly everything seems fine with the transition. One very annoying thing though is in the main list of articles, there'll be something in a headline that is nowhere to be found in the actual article. Kind of frustrating to be lured into reading something when the actual subject matter doesn't exist. Please stop posting headlines with no articles to back them up, it's a very annoying waste of my time

Using a One Plus 7 which has a large screen. This app is sized perfectly for it. It is easy to scroll through the news headlines and select articles. The quality of the content is incredible and I pay to support it. They never provide "fake news". Yes, all journalists have blind spots which annoy those of who sometimes can see them. But The Guardian has quality control and integrity--which we desperately need.

Update--everything was fine until I logged in. Now, when I open the app, it freezes and I have to force quit I very often get news before I hear it in the U. S. Media. I love the in depth stories that The Guardian provides. The app is good but has some odd issues. It doesn't always keep me signed in, even when I don't sign out. Also, I get story emails and it doesn't give me an option to open them in the app. The listings in my categories are often less than on the website

I had hoped that by now, the functionality to customize the front page would be restored. Currently, the opening page for me is mostly hidden as I have zero interest in those sections. Worse, some sections can't be hidden, and there's the large Wordiply link. I don't love needing to navigate between tabs to read the sections that interest me. Why was the ability to personalize the app degraded? As much as I love The Guardian, I will likely cancel my subscription.

Update: app is fine, but implementation of mandatory login means it's uninstalled. Just the first step towards a firewall. Too bad. Great news coverage, but new UI is terrible. Looks like it was created by a first year student. Update: still great new coverage, but now an amateurish implementation of pop-up full page ads, make the app almost unusable. One has to wonder if the developers bother to do any testing.

I've used this app for at least 7 years. They recently changed the interface, and made it less customizable, full of advertising content, and generally worse. I lost all of my saved articles, and they increased the price. Good reporters and good news coverage, but the app isn't worth it.

Many news outlets dont put much thought into how their app looks. I always found The Guardian to be the most attractive news app visually, the use of colors, cards and live feeds is almost addictive to interact with. As petty as it might sound, I find the recent changes to this app's visual layout makes it less enticing to scroll through, something just feels blander now compared to it's previous iteration earlier this year. Nevertheless, The Guardian remains my favorite news app to go through.
