More About Switch Access
To get started:
1. Open your device's Settings app.
2. Tap Accessibility > Switch Access.
Set up a switch
Switch Access scans the items on your screen and highlights each item until you make a selection. You can choose from a few kinds of switches:
Physical switches
• USB or Bluetooth switches, like buttons or keyboards
• On-device switches, like volume buttons
Camera switches
• Open your mouth, smile, or raise your eyebrows
• Look left, right, or up
Scan your device
After setting up a switch, you can scan and interact with things on the screen.
• Linear scanning: Move between items one at a time.
• Row-column scanning: Scan one row at a time. After a row is selected, move through items in that list.
• Point scanning: Use moving lines to select a specific horizontal and vertical location, then press "Select".
• Group selection: Assign switches to different color groupings. All items on the screen will be assigned a color. Press the switch corresponding to the color around the item you want. Narrow down the size of the group until you reach your choice.
Use the menus
When an element is selected, you'll see a menu with available interactions, like select, scroll, copy, paste, and more.
There will also be a menu at the top of the screen to help you move around your device. For example, you can open notifications, go to the home screen, change the volume, and more.
Navigate with Camera Switches
You can use Camera Switches to navigate your phone with facial gestures. Browse or select apps on your phone with the use of your phone’s front camera.
You can also customize the sensitivity and duration of each gesture to better fit your needs.
Record shortcuts
You can record touch gestures that can be assigned to a switch or started from a menu. Touch gestures can include pinching, zooming, scrolling, swiping, double tapping, and more. You can then start frequent or complex actions with a single switch, for example, recording a gesture that swipes left twice to turn two pages of an ebook.
Permissions Notice
• Accessibility Service: Because this app is an accessibility service, it can observe your actions, retrieve window content, and observe text that you type.

I only wanted this to bring back the Google Assistant beep because switch access was not included with my phone. This does not bring back the beat so it's useless to me.

Even with this uninstalled it constantly opens. How does anyone shed this parasite program? Seriously we need an uninstall that actually removes it. 4-20-24 it's popped up again.

This is portrayed as choice but it's not. You HAVE to put it on your phone or it will keep interrupting all your programs, and sending you alert to turn it on. There's no way to stop it you just have to give in and download it.

I don't appreciate having to silence the notification every hour it's annoying I don't want this on my phone so please stop making it pop up. I even installed it hoping it would stop it from popping up again, but no so I deleted it. Just make this notification stop popping up on my phone I don't want this app

Well this app used 66% of my battery from the time I drove home around 20 minutes. Battery usage went from 88% from Harbor Freight.Til home down to 2% and bat usage says this app used 66% of my battery and optimization was on. So idk what's up with all that but I never even got to use the app once, hadn't had a chance yet, and never will cause of this battery thing. I'm gonna uninstall it and hope its not a defective battery??? It was just a $50 moto g pure from verizon with free shipping.

Intrusive and annoying app. It's impossible to get rid of it! even though I have tried disabling the notifications and denied all permissions, I still get notifications trying to force me to activate it

This look like maybe some kind of accessibility tool- don't need it, and I would rather be able to free up space by uninstalling junk apps like this

I totally believe we ought to be able to LOL at some peoples reviews. Now I shall either turn off or hopefully uninstall this little spy bot app that has complete control over my device.

Ruined my SD Card and Sim! Right after I installed this because the notification wouldn't go away my phone kept crashing after 10 seconds of turning on! Now I have to order a new sim card and corrupt files on SD card. My phone works only because I removed the SD card. 😡🤬 THANKS GOOGLE

If you don't want to encounter switching problems in your device. A simple solution is to use the one that google built and that is the Switch Access.

nasty work intrusive takes over phone then flickers a menu on screen while voice asst keeps telling one what its doing ...like overlays every thing on screen every 10 seconds ...took 45 mins just to get from home screen to this app to finaly hit uninstall ..once i did that things went back to normal ...down load at ones risk ..consider selves warned

This is a unless app will never use it by the way I am about to break the hell out of phone that no longer has use to me seeing u won't allow me to set it back to default settings not this one of course but a Motorola

All ratings above 2 stars are bots or paid actors. This is a wholly unnecessary app being forced on us by Google on the name of "convenience". However it's just like every other Project Mainline app, separating basic android OS features for better data collecting to build an overall better ad profile on its users to sell or use for their targeted ad and other campaigns.

I don't even know how it came to be on my phone. One day it showed up saying my phone can't be supported anymore. I used my phone just fine until they started getting annoying popping up on my screen all the time, and keeping me from being able from doing anything else . I looked everywhere in my apps and I couldn't find it , then the other day I found it , and disabled it , but it's still doing everything it was before , and telling me that I need to reinstall it. I will have to contact FCC !!

Similar to everyone else's experience, it's intrusive and constantly asks you to set up the access every other day without the option of opting out. Which the only way was disabling the app and denying notifications. In saying that- I don't hold much hope that'll resolve the persistence this app seems to have.

If you think this is malware or bloatware, you're a complete idiot who doesn't understand what Project Mainline is. It's based on, and is in addition to, what Project Treble is for base security update patches. That way Google can send out bugfixes and QOL without the need of Android "14.1". Think (if you're capable) of it as akin to changing the filter on your drinking water pitcher without throwing the whole thing out and get a new pitcher or upgrading your Wi-Fi router firmware, not buy new.

Just for context: this app is a part of the Android operating system, which has been separated into a modular, upgradable component as part of Google's Project Mainline. Basically, this means it can be updated by Google directly, without needing to wait for a full Android upgrade. Its status as a part of the OS explains the "intrusive" permissions that other reviews have complained about, and its "undesired" presence on their devices. Also, notice that this module is an accessibility tool!

This app appears only after updating system to 14... It claims it is for accessibility issues..to add an external means to allow for screen manipulation when there "is an issue with your touchscreen". What issue are they referencing?? If your touchscreen is malfunctioning then there seems to be issue with the operating system as a whole, and how then, would any device help one to bypass this issue???? AND WHY would it need updating immediately upon discovery??? Hmmm🧐

Switch does not work!!! Impalpable, never succeeded, always replys that it is unsuccessful regarding point of entry. I have read numerous times that this app is not applicable. I have ignore this suggestion numerous times and eventually downloaded it. Big mistake, I should have listened to what others have said and gone with my instinct. Failure all the way and completely. I have now uninstalled this worthless app. I felt that this app was a failure and the app never explained anexplaination.

This is an extremely useful and helpful app although the helpfulness of the app can depend on whether or not if you've set it up before smashing/disablizing the touch screen you can regain control of your device after dropping and breaking it but it must be set up beforehand. Excellent last resort option to transfer all data to new phone if old one breaks.
