Good app, and does very well when it works correctly. However, it is quite annoying that it randomly requires you to re-enter your username and password. It's as if the app was just installed. The only app that keeps doing this, other apps remember that I use my fingerprint or a PIN, but Square keeps acting like it was just installed. Quite annoying when most of the time you use it you're in front of a customer, and they're waiting.

I have used Square for 7 years. I've been pleased with it until I was forced to buy a chip reader. This $50 chip reader is trash. It barely worked when I first got it & now that the app has updated, it does not work at all! And yes, I have tried every single suggestion. I am not buying another reader. My time in between clients is being taken up with me trying to get this to work then ultimately manually entering it. My clients are starting to use Venmo to pay me.

Not good for mobile businesses that have to change tax rates. For example, a mobile locksmith who has different jobs in different cities and has to charge different tax rates depending on which city/county he's in. There's no way to set up tax rates like that. Also really annoying to have to turn on location every time you want to run someone's card. But I get it, Square can track your location and sell the data to others. Good for them, very bad for privacy.

I appreciate the square reader, but the new update messed up my tip money. My client do not see the tip, they go straight to sign without tipping. That's too bad. I suggest an option being in the setting to choose the out look configuration, either the old look which I prefer or the new one which I don't want. Many people don't understand % tipping they like to see the actual amount. There should be provided where we, the user should calculate weekly, monthly or yearly even dailyincome. Thanks.

Super easy to use and a quick payoff time. I have used this for my biz for 3 years. Only glitch that ever happens is when I forget to update the app. I use the whole register system. I have another biz with an old fashioned terminal and square is easier, nicer, and quicker to transfer funds. Sometimes with all their updates the reader doesn't connect easily and needs rebooting. I have also had rebooting issues with the printer too. Not super consistent but when the app works, it works nicely.

For the last year I have had access to Instant Transfer. I got my first sale of the year today, went to transfer, and the option was no longer available. Called customer service. Their solution 'do more transactions' and the option will turn itself back on when the 'system shows I've done enough'. They couldn't tell me a number, when it was removed, why it was removed... Nothing. Just 'do more transactions'. Great advice! Not. Going to Shopify.

Great for small, slow businesses. It covered our point of sale needs for the first few years of our business. Now that our volume of has increased, the app struggles to keep up during the rushes. We waste precious minutes waiting for cards to process, menus to load and even cash payments to go through. There's a lot of potential, but it's less and less worth the frustration.

My wireless device works well most of the time. This weekend at a festival it stopped letting my take cards. I could only do it manually. It was connected. I'd lose a charge but when I recharge d it it still wouldn't let me charge automatically. Tried call ing but very difficult to get a fix. I was going to use this in my business but I need to be able to talk to a person. Any help to get my square back up and running would be greatly appreciated. Also I'm trying to download the app on my Amazon tablet. It says installed but app not showing on my page. When I click on it it says square will be downloaded shortly. Kind of confusing. Any help? Need this for the weekend.

App review, not the service (which I like). Solid, easy to use, better invoice integration than was in my previous review. Still some issues like split paying invoices or marking them 'paid by Square' if ringing up the invoice with other items. I would like to see the ability to access invoices from the checkout page as a button. Still some issues with either dropping the wifi or bluetooth though the BT connectivity is better than it was.

BEWARE!!! IF you use headphones, if this app is on your phone, it will all of a sudden BLAST you way down in your ears with EXTREMELY LOUD static that is shocking, and I'm sure also damaging to your hearing, while you are listening to a meditation track or anything else. When it begins is completely unpredictable, which is even.worse. I will never reinstall that terrible app, and I am sure they know it is happening but do nothing. They also reserve the right to turn on your camera at any time.

Love this app! The only thing I would love to see change with this app, and this has been an issue from the beginning, is to be able to add pictures to the different variations and options/modifiers. It's kinda ridiculous to set up a variation but not be able to show anyone what it looks like. You have to be online in the browser to add more pictures. Otherwise, I've been using this app for about 5 years now, and it's been very helpful and useful.

It has really saved me over the years. Sometimes I get confused with the billing. I'd like to see a little bit better training for when I'm in the field trying a collect a bill from a customer. It would be ideal is a program that is set up for my business hvac. If it's there I haven't figured it out.It gets changed occasionally and I get embarrassed in front of a customer trying to figure it out. Other than that I'm really pleased. Mark MC Mechanical HVAC

Its was expensive per transaction and expensive to instant transfer. Do keep statistics and yearly projections and growth .... great for tracking that... and it takes a lot of data filling to be easier to use on an everyday basis. Customer service would be better if they just said they don't have any customer service because they do not handle any issues. An impossible to reach somebody in person.

My gen 1 reader wouldn't connect when I started up my season and it instructed me to purchase a brand new Gen 2 reader from square., which I did. I have had nothing but problems with the gen 2 reader since I got it as it keeps disconnecting every two or three sales. This is super frustrating because when you're in the middle of a dinner rush its often faster to enter the card manually then trying to get the reader to constantly reconnect. It's costing me money and super aggravating.

I as a small business thought that this would be a great option. I did my first transaction for a small amount but it went through. Everything went great. The money was put on my card, no issues. I did my second transaction which was significantly higher and all the sudden they want to do a verification and put my funds on hold for 2 days which was on a Friday. So of course it was all weekend as long I had already given the product to the person that made the purchase. Terrible service.

App crashes after 5 seconds. I've cleared the cache, restarted it multiple times, and it still crashes every time. Says this app has a bug. Please wait for the developer to fix it. So I doubt I can trust this for future Vending opportunities. This is very, very disappointing. Edit: apparently there was a disruption to services today. So I'll change my rating from one star to four

UPDATE: Function has improved. Square was fine to begin with but now I have nothing but trouble with it. It continually says it is offline (and I have to do a force stop to get it to work) or that I have no internet connection when I know I do. Also, the chip reader fails to recognize cards on a regular basis & I end up having to manually enter the number. When I've asked Square about it, they say it is a Verizon problem. Verizon says it's a Square problem. Bottom line, it is a problem for me.

The swiping and product listing work well. The checking account and savings account access are horrific and not very user friendly. My goal was to have everything in a nice easy to use point of sale, to checking and savings (which do work). But, the dashboard is so poorly set up. I'm already looking to switch back to a normal bank. Maybe, it's a little bit me? But, I do have multiple online banking accounts and this is by far the least intuitive or user friendly of all of them.

Being forced to enable notifications and location is extremely annoying and very much not needed or wanted. The interface has become very convoluted and confusing. If you update an invoice to paid the system doesn't reflect that on the main invoice screen. There's no reason to be forcing permissions to be enabled for anything. Stream line the interface, clean it up and make it user friendly again. I liked being able to open the app and be in my invoices.

You've had lots of these reports ON YOUR FORUMS. See the 1 & 2 star reviews. It used to be great but in 2020 I (and other vendors at fairs) noticed the chip reader was going slower and disconnecting after every transaction. After having me try a few things, Support blames AT&T, AT&T says it's not on their end so I paid more for a hotspot. Now it's even slower and still disconnects every transaction. UGH! My profits are based on speed. This just isn't working. I need to find a solution.
