AI Factory's Spades has been substantially updated and is now much stronger, with a new bidding system. Its new game intelligence allows it to make creative plays that conventional programs cannot make, often breaking the usual rule-of-thumb to find new winning plans.
The new CPU players will now also talk to each other - and you - in speech bubbles and smile or frown to let you know how they feel!

4 years after the original release of Spades Free, we are happy to announce our single greatest improvement in play quality, after a prolonged period devoted just to Spades. This has always been a collaborative project shared with York University and has combined the best of AI research with game industry engineering to achieve the best result so far. In this last period particular attention was paid to bidding and the Nil game, but we also made substantial progress in the Joker variants and efficiency of the analysis. Learn each okayers unique quirks and you will be set. It can however, be a challenge for those 2 and 1 star players. I've played over 150 games and have a rating of 4021 at 95%. It has taken a while though. Thanks. Ads are not intrusive and also predictable. Update, as one has mentioned, dumb mistakes especially in ni bids are present. Just undo moves here or there and you will see that in some sets, you will lose no matter. The player will make nonsensical moves fitting with personality.

I had a hard time understanding the bonuses and the penalties because we never used them in scoring, but seeing the score as displayed here made it easy to understand. Key is if you bid nil and do not win a single hand, you get a bonus; you get a bag for every trick you win over your bid and when you have 10 bags you're penalized 100 points. Understanding the scores make it easier to play.

Can't play game because of never-ending Postmates ad. No way to end it. No "x" to click. Still running 10 minutes later. Frustrating. What point is there in developing an app when users can't even use it?? I'll find a different one that i can actually play... Update 10/21: none of the options listed in your reply were available Tapping the ad only brought me to Postmates. Back button only restarted ad.

Disappointing after awhile. I like the user face, the range of settings and ads aren't always appearing after every round. BUT no matter what partner I choose, while they seemed to be great when playing against me, they suck when on my side right out of the gate, and never get to the level they were when against me, so it's the algorithms that are never in my favor.

5-Star AI partner and opponents will go nil with the ace of spades. Any more questions? Fine, apparently nil with AS wasnt enough for you? Utilize that back button to see how the AI appears to go out if its way to make virtually every critical play mathematically incorrect (including back to something as ridiculous as bids and not gameplay. i.e. you need 2 to go out and your opponent has 200 and cant overtake you this hand, watch your partner bid 4 or nil anyway, and be nowhere near either).

Honestly the AI partners are bad. If I bid nil, my partner should NEVER lead with a two unless they're 100 percent certain I am out of the suit that they are leading. All around the NIL play is horrible, all AI partners. You basically cannot bid nil in this game, your partner will not cover you, while both opponents actively try to set you. The ads on free version also pop up when menu buttons are on the screen causing you to inadvertently click the ads. Other than that, it's a decent spades app

I love the game its self, but getting ads pop up all of the time is getting old. It wasn't that way a while back. I'm considering looking for a new source because of the ads. oh i forgot to mention that no matter where you have the setting, nil is bid on virtually every hand. Thanks for responding, but nils are still way beyond any normal play. Nil is part of the game, but not on every hand of a game. It used to be normal, but whatever y'all did to it, messed it up.

The game cheats. No matter what partner you pick. It decides to set you over and over , losing game after game. It also decides to step on top of you. By. Trumping twice wasting a spade wasting a trick often times that 1 trick. Would set us. It also likes to give out miss deals I've gotten. 2 miss deals. 2 times in a row. Someone needs to learn how to program better. Maybe they should hire me and I'll program the game to where no one can beat it cause. No one can beat me.

for a free game this is really good. It has all the spades you could want with few ads. The advertising on this game is very reasonable and one of the best gameplay to ad ratio I have seen in a while. the customization is really good with lots of different levels of play and lots of different rules to set. Would recommend this version of Spades if you are looking to get one.

The game is great. I read reviews saying it cheats and this and that. The only problem that seemed legit was a partner leading a 2 when you bid nil. The rest seemed to come from the human player trying to set the other team and not understanding the game well enough to realize the AI (partner) is trying to avoid books. Maybe adding some AI players that play both ways depending on if book penalty is on or off.

This game becomes more frustrating the more you play it. Forget the star system, which supposedly controls the AI's ability to play. Even on the easiest difficulty, the computer gets much better cards every turn, and the supposedly "bad" AI players play their hands perfectly, with no bags,turn after turn after turn. Your teammates will play like a five year old, even if their supposed to be one of the best players in the game. Two stars because the game looks ok, and the ads are not overbearing

The player intelligence is not realistic. It seems as if they try to draw from your competitive side to keep you on the game by having your animated partner make ridiculous decisions. I believe they assume that the competitive side will make them stay on the game longer in an effort to win. The increased time you spend on the game allows for more advertising views. I just uninstall the game completely. It feels like a complete waste of time and manipulation. It's okay to make a buck but... Smh.

Great way to pass the time while I am waiting somewhere! Edit- It seems this game has gone the way of other spades games in that it now has a ton of ads. I can't even find an option to upgrade without ads which I would GLADLY pay for. It's just too my distraction to sit through all the ads to play the game. Suggestion. Make an opt out options for the ads OR run ads when you first sign on to play game. But to constantly watch the ads all through the game it's too much!

Updating again the game is now going to black screen. I go out of it and still blank when I open again I'm updating my review. It seems better but freezes still. I have to restart my phone to play. I'll check for updates... This game is no longer fair or fun. Was my favorite game for a long time. Changes and updates have made it too frustrating to play. Also, certain ads that show at the bottom of the screen cause the cards to hesitate and game will freeze. It really isn't fun to play anymore.

The only spades game that doesn't have any ads after every trick. Play is done in clockwise order. You're able to chose the difficulty level of your opponents and your partner. And it's free! But makes me want to spend money on it.. After dealing with the all of the other failures! This is the only one worth any of my time. Good work on this game.

It's a fun game to play, I love playing spades. However, it often seems like your partner isn't playing WITH you. The partners like to trump a trick you've already won; that hurts our scouring. I wish there was a way to correct this issue. And please add more options for the design choices for the cards, some of the options can be a little difficult to read. And while there are some beautiful options for the backgrounds it would helpful if there were some lighter colours choices so it's easier to read the cards as well as easier on the eyes. Thanks for the fun & relaxation this game provides.

I've been playing this game for years, but the past few months my partner, who's always been my partner, keeps bidding nil and losing, like every game. It's very frustrating and I'm about to call it quits. Rather go back to previous versions. Used to be a 5 star game. 2022 and still same issue, and add pop up ads, continously, like 7-8 in a row.

I hate the pop ups at the start and at the end. More pop ups as time goes by and some you have to "X" out. Now, ads last longer and force you to "x" out. Why , can't you design your program, to just close out and automatically go back to the game after 5 seconds? Most ads are NOT something I want. If ads were relevant, maybe more players would click on them.

Controls are a little unresponsive. I sometimes have to tap the screen several times to play the card I want. Other than that the game is good. Nice variety of rules options and AIs. Edit: lost a star. When I select that I want the sound off, that also means that I don't want a maddeningly loud and obnoxious ad to play as soon as I start, what I expect to be, a silent game!

Nil becomes impossible with bad partner. It seems the AI prioritizes their bid over covering the partner's nil bid. Seems like it would be easy enough to tweak, but right now, it's almost unplayable. I just had a game where my partner played perfectly, but as soon as he picked up his third trick, he led out a 2 of clubs while having much higher cards in his hand. It caused me to lose my nil on a 4 of clubs. This happens so often that I don't think I'll play this anymore.
