This would be great if the phisics weren't all sorts of wrong and the homming attack was smoth... Oh wait. There are 2 frames where the homming attack does the air dash, but still dashs into the enemy in a super quick motion. If the homming attack always acted like that, I'd give it 4 stars. But as of now... at least it's not glitchy.

I feel like I'm one of the wierd few people who enjoy this game. I wish you could use a controller though. Also some sounds like the famous "SEGA jingle" are played at a lower than usual pitch. Also I wish to have regular touch controls for Lost Labytinth Zone Act 2 and all Special Stages. For a cheap Sonic game, I still say this is kind of fun.

I like the game a lot. Just make the d pad bigger because I am running fast then all of a sudden I am stopping because my finger slid of the d pad. If the d pad was bigger I would play this game more often. Also when I try to spin dash it doesn't work. Lastly Add the card level from casino night in stead of the point challenge. I liked the card level. Other than that this game is cool I would recommend giving it a try

This game is ok, but needs an update to fix on modern Androids, as well as compatibility with external controllers such as the backbone. With sonic seeing a mass resurgence, it's a shame this has been largely abandoned.

Okay, this game is legendary for being one of the worst sonic games ever made, due to the poor graphics, cheap physics and low framrate or whatever. As a console game this is not worth it in any way shape or form but as a mobile game available for 2.99 it is very worth it, I like the music and the fact that once you complete the first level you gain. access to all other zones. This game is fun and can be played every now and then and 2.99 is pretty cheap, even in 2022 with inflation!, so get it

The game is alright, but to be honest, this is not a Sonic game that's close enough to be as much of a gem as the first three Sonic games (Sonic 1,2,3&K) was. The Sonic render looks alright, but everything else could've looked better. If it's gonna be Modern Sonic being the playable character in this game, instead of 3D but 2D levels, turn everything into 2D sprites like the older games, and really cool tracks and newer levels just like the old games...same thing for Sonic 4 Episode 2, ok?

Sure Sonic 4 episode 1 is an enjoyable game for die hard fans of the blue blur and you can definitely benefit alot from its sense of speed, visuals and presentation but in the end it is plagued with stiff controls, bad camera movement and some poor level designs that totally brings down the Sonic experience. Worth a buy but it doesn't deserve to be called a follow up from the critically acclaimed retro trilogy.

Everything is as best as Everything. The controls, graphics, bugfixes, and hard levels are awesome!!! If you fix the delay of the invincibility music, i will play this game alot more often. The only other things that needs to be fixed is that the sound effects are low pitches. Either way this game is cool(i am not enjoying the invincibility music). Also the bosses are lame but easy SO if you think this is true like me, ALL THE bosses are sooo FUUUUUUUUNNNNNNNNN!!!

This a short game with some nice visuals, an average soundtrack and decent level design. The special stages are very difficult to master due to awkward controls and the frame-rate occasionally has issues. The physics have a very momentum-less feel about them, which doesn't really feel right in a Sonic game. I can't recommend the mobile version of Sonic 4 Ep1. It's not a bad game, but there are far better 2d games out there. Better to play this game on a console.

This great game was badly ported in 2010. It's pretty much been abandoned since then. What we're left with now is a monster of a port - tiny controls, low frame rate, the top and bottom of the game cut off and sound effects playing in a weird low tempo, even though the music is perfect. This is a great game on other platforms. If you try very hard to overlook this app's issues, it is possible to enjoy this.

It's a good game if you're a true sonic fan and true to the franchise. When I loaded the game up on my S9+ it said something about the last update for the game may not work for my phone and said something about contact the developers and where I should go to find the correct version update for this phone. I noticed on the title screen sonic's moving hand is not attached to his arm so I thought it was a bug of sorts. If I could get some aid that would be much appreciated Sega

I've played this game on the Wii and on PC, I think the mobile version has differences but couldn't tell you what they are. We all know sonic 4 is awful, so I'll skip that business. The sound effects do not work at all.. they are completely silent. No rings, jump, or hurt sounds. Sonics character model looks nicer in this version than the console and pc. They got rid of the weird lighting on sonic. Bad sonic game, decent time waster, better games for same price on playstore.

Ok so this is quite a bit later than the time of release, but this could still help nonetheless. So if you want to play this game for some godforsaken reason, then play this version. The 3 stars I gave it was based of the port not the game, considering the game is atrocious. The graphics look a hell of a lot better, and good riddance for the weird cel-shading whatever the console version was supposed to look like. Sound is eh, but honestly I don't think that matters much. All in all 3/5.

Alright at best and mediocre at worst. Has its fair share of problems, including the wonky physics, small controls, and off-pitch sound effects. It also has worse graphics than the console versions, making this one a bit more ugly. Unless you're a hardcore Sonic fan, I wouldn't exactly recommend this game for you. Just go for Sonic 1, 2 or CD instead. Sonic 4 Episode 1 is alright, but that's about it.

3 starts because sound effects do not work. Please fix. Otherwise good and underrated game. Edit: okay I used earphones and then sound effects worked and then disconnected them and they worked through the phone's speakers. Then I quit the game and started again and the sound effects didn't work again! I will blame my phone on this one but it's still weird. 4 stars.

Don't get me wrong: classic Sonic is awesome, but only when done right. Sonic 4 captures the looks and sounds of a good classic Sonic game for the most part, but where it falls is the flow. Sonic accelerates really oddly and has no momentum whatsoever, making it feel much different than the momentum-based games from the noughties. It's also pathetically short, having only 4 zones (compared to the 6 in the first game). But hey, it could be worse-- at least it isn't Sonic Genesis GBA...

To those who never played this game, it absolutely is worth it. The controls are small and can't be changed, but they are not difficult and it's still easy to control Sonic's direction. The boss fights take ideas from older ones and put a little spin to them. The cam may always stick low in some boss fights, but this is a great high speed game with some unique features. Just keep a open mind when playing it, don't immediately go into hate. You'll love it, trust me.

This is great! I wish it was free, but it wasn't expensive, either. I know it's just the old levels reimagined, but the 3D effect is amazing! Love the homing attack. And I love the tilt-screen play on the Special Stage. I have yet to to get an emerald in Sonic 1, but this is much easier. The music is great and most of the graphics are good (some of the badniks look cheap, tho). One glitch, not a biggie- when I hit the goals in a Special Stage, it shuts off my phone.

It's already a mediocre game on console, but that feeling is further amplified in this mobile port. The touch controls are clunky, there's a little screen crunch, all of the sound effects are lower pitched, which sounds wrong, and you're forced to use tilt controls in the special stages, making already challenging stages almost impossible. If you're gonna play this game, stick with the console version, preferably the PS3 or Wii versions where the shading isn't overdone.

I do not like this game, but I still think that it needs to be preserved. This version hasn't been updated since 2016, and is somewhat broken on modern Android devices. Many sound effects are low pitched, there are some graphical issues (just look at the title screen), the game is too zoomed in for modern screens (especially compared to episode 2), and the D-Pad and jump button are too small. I do not expect this game to get updated or even added to SEGA Forever, but it should at least be fixed.
