Since the last update app is very laggy or doesn't work at all. The last version worked just fine everytime but now it either doesnt load, takes forever to load, and it can no longer tell if my door is locked or unlocked. And if my door is locked but the app shows that it is unlocked, it won't unlock the door. My only way around this is to "lock" it in the app then unlock before it actually sends the signal. Please fix these issues cuz this new version is awful! Needs lots of work.

I had this app on my old phone for over a year. It generally worked, but it logged me out every time I used it. Just reinstalled it on my new phone (same make and model, just a replacement) and it won't connect to my internet to complete setup. There is no issue with my WiFi connection or password --- the app simply won't do anything once I enter the WiFi password.

Buggy and behind other competitors. Rarely allows me to login - text goes gray and returns to the main "Sign In or Take a Tour" page. Difficult to navigate - nearly impossible to find certain features (like scheduling AC to turn on and off at specified times) because of bad UI design. 2nd star is given because at the very least, the features *exist* and the app doesnt look like it is from the early 2000s.

Not just worthless, a security nightmare. Our APT complex forced this "upgrade" and now I can't connect to the locks, can't get anything working. App doesn't recognize the front door at all, and can't/won't connect to the garage. What was wrong with just using keys? I don't like that I am now the only person without access to my own home. Not everything needs to be "smart" and run through an app.

This app is the WORST!! The thermostat is always wrong and can sometimes change on its own to WAY hotter/colder temps than we had it set on. The fan option for the a/c doesn't work most of the time either! And apparently there was an update last night to "fix" some bugs and it logged me out. Now I can't sign back in because it won't scroll down past the password field so I can click the login button! Very frustrating!!

the most inconvenient way to be forced to live. sounds great in theory, no door keys to lose. but the app just doesn't work so more often than not i'm stuck in a hallway waiting on a co-occupant to get home while trying to force close, re-login to the app. it's SUPER fun. roomie has an iphone so her app works just fine and we can rule out any issues with the hub or our complex. it's literally the android version that's trash.

Works well for standard purposes but it's missing a notification center. The app says that it has push notifications, but when you want to inspect them, they are nowhere to be found. Smart Rent should invest in at least a month long home for notification data. The temporary codes work well. It's just frustrating to not see all of the messages I've received. EDIT: I Have A Major Concern! There is no way to delete your activity. We're being tracked every time we enter our homes or turn on a light.

Absolute garbage system. My landlord made a last second announcement before switching my locks out while I was at work. The app has legitimately not worked 1 time aside from when I initially set it up. I've come home to find my door unlocked after I manually locked it before leaving. I've found my a/c set to 68 and on full blast despite me setting it at 75 and turning it off when I'm out of the house, and the module/router they install with this emits a high frequency, extremely obnoxious sound 24/7. The most frustrating thing is that clearly this system sucks (one glance at their Play Store ratings will tell you as much), yet they do absolutely nothing to fix their app. It's not as if they're unaware-- they're very obviously just incompetent.

Good concept, when it works. Most of the time it doesn't. Even after updates. When you unlock the door from the app. The app verifies it is unlocked, yet it's not. It takes 2 or 3 tries. Smart thermostat is buggy also. Our landlord forced this on us against our will. I do not see the point. I will take a key and a non-networked thermostat anyday. Tech does not make everything better.

Truly terrible. The app rarely works, completely eliminating the conveniences promised with the system. E.g. if one cannot connect to the system, how can one remotely lock/unlock one's door? The answer is that you can't, it is pointless, frustrating, and a simple key entrance a regular thermostat are far superior. This level of incompetence is utterly unacceptable.

This app has so many issues! Nice idea but come on guys. First the keyless door pad and thermostate were installed in my entire apartment complex so I didn't have a choice but to download the app. I can't set my door key number to a specific 4 digit code. The thermostate does not listen to the app and turns on randomly at 4am. Which is when I'm writing this review. Then once you schedule a time for the thermostate to actually come on, the app crashes everytime you try to reset it or delete it. Tried uninstall and reinstalling the app. No dice. The app worked for the first few weeks. Now we're all screwed.

Recently moved into a complex that used Smartrent devices. Liked it a lot at first. Like others, after the recent update I lost the ability to consistently control my thermostat. Frequently times out. Tonight I lost the ability to log in to the app due to my device 'not being connected to a network,' which is obviously false. Maybe it'll fix itself eventually, who knows. My partner on iOS has had no issues with connectivity, both for the app itself and for the thermostat. Very frustrating.

Terrible. For the benefit of--being able to let in a dogwalker while you're at work?--every time you enter your home can be slightly less convenient, with the added benefit of the need to worry about batteries and connectivity to make sure you can get into your home. From a purely technical standpoint, the app routinely fails to change locked/unlocked status (while the door does indeed lock), meaning that the app needs to be toggled back and forth to simply unlock a door. And at least in my building, the bluetooth/RFID entry simply does not work. You may as well start memorizing however many codes you need to get into your building, unit, public areas, etc. This is useful only to property managers while making life more difficult for residents with no discernable benefits to security or convenience. The most frustrating part is that if you are reading this, you almost certainly have no choice but to use it.

Didnt have a choice for this to be installed. Update: of course all the problems are real. App has said door is jammed and unlocked since it was installed. I have to jiggle the handle to make sure its locked because the SMART app doesnt sense it. Thermostat is finicky and wont turn on unless i manually bump the temperature up or down to kick start it. It also comes with its own wireless port but still wants to connect to my personal internet, hard pass. Lol, lmao even.

first day using it at a new complex and it has been frustrating. had to check reviews to confirm if i actually had an issue or if this is typical of the app. it never shows accurate state of the lock, constantly says the lock is jammed even though everything is unlocking/locking just fine, constantly says the connection is unstable which i have no control over whatever connection it's using. gives no peace of mind for end user exp. keyless entry locks that just use a fob are much better.

The SmartRent app only work about 40% of the time, sometimes less then that. All the rest of the time it's innaccurate and simply doesn't work at all. I only use it because it's tied to my apartment. So as soon as I move out of the current apartment. I will be gladly uninstalling this app. Also the customer support is not very useful from my experience.

Previous one star issue was admittedly fixed, so far. Lately though it's just not working at all. The thermostat part has never worked, and the one functional thing unlocking and locking the door no longer works in app. Just a message that says "this is taking longer than expected." I was forced into this system by my apartment complex. I just want a freaking key again.

Ever since the last update the app no longer controls my thermostat & you cant reset the tstat yourself! Automation rarely works & overrides Away mode so I do it all through Google. There's no phone widget for 1 touch lock & unlock. I rarely get notified or even see in the history when maintenance has entered my home. There's no way to manually open the lock with a key...maintenance literally had to bust someone's door down when the lock died. It doesn't work with Samsung Smartthings.

New version is worse in every way, slower and less reliable. It's faster to just punch in my door code manually now. Update 8/31/2022: New interface, same garbage app. At least they added error messages for when it fails to work half the time. Update 5/12/2024: App is now officially useless. Changes to the interface don't reflect on my actual thermostat. It shows the changes I make that I wish the thermostat would do, with pretty pictures and rotating circles. Great job 👍👏

Not a super fan. If I have a schedule set for the thermostat to cool during the night and slightly higher in the day. Why is it than when I check it, its set higher than either of those schedules? The activity feed says "schedule skipped already on auto" so fine I change it to one schedule, just to make sure its set cooler at one time. Can't handle that either! Same error too. 78 is decidedly not what I want it to default to when it decides the schedule isn't king. Still give those reps a raise!
