Edit: I really hate the new layout. I'm not finding it all pleasant to navigate between the many channels I participate in. I hope you'll rethink this one. Original: Slack is awesome, especially for companies with telecommuters spread across the globe. We can have multiple channels for specific topics that include only those who need included. I don't know how we ever managed without it!

Update: everything is now resolved and there are no current issues. I find it easy to navigate and add spaces to. It works exactly like the desktop IMO. I finally received a job offer since last July and they use Slack. I cannot get it to even open. All I am able to see is a white screen. I can't leave my computer anymore because I will miss notifications so I have to constantly check in all day/night long.

The new update and refresh for mobile is absolutely incredible! I always feel like I'm leaving bad reviews for apps that make a design change, but this was absolutely a design change in the right direction. Everything is clearer, more clean, easier to access, the search functions make sense, everything that I'm looking for is right where I'm looking for it. Major props to the design team.

Latest big revision involves swiping between screens, and whenever I try to tap something it registers it as a tiny swipe instead of a selection. I have to tap super lightly to make sure my finger doesn't contact more than a pinpoint on the screen. Did no one use the app before it was released? Also, messages seem to get lost - I get multiple notifications for incoming messages, but can only find one of them when I open the app. So frustrating.

This app has a good bit of features that are nice. Like theme personalization and having a personal thread for quick notes. It also syncs settings instantly between devices. However, it's a battery hog when open and in the background. Huddles are nearly useless on my Duo. When I open a thread, the prompt to join a huddle often crashes the whole app. And when someone stops a screen share in a huddle, it crashes. Contacted support - I'm not hopeful despite them being very kind.

Very organized, sleek app that is for a more business-oriented workflow. Update (May 2021, from Nov. 2014) When you type in a DM chat box, if the text becomes a paragraph, you can no longer scroll to see the bottom of the body of the most recent message in the DM. Makes it feel buggy. Doesn't happen on copy-paste or after clicking off the text box after writing the large body of text.

It has horrible connection issues on my pixel 7 pro and doesn't send my messages half the time. I'm not on a VPN or proxy, and it's not a self hosted instance of slack. Not sure what the problem is but it's so unreliable I choose to only use it for reading. To send a message, I have to ensure it's been force killed or it is unlikely it will ever send and I wasted my time and thought.

App is mostly good, and improving. But for the love of all that is holy, the huddle notification needs the ability to be changed or muted on mobile. It could not possibly be any more annoying. Edit: I'm dropping this to a 1 star. Seriously, give users control over the stupid huddle notification. It's beyond frustrating.

Update to reply from dev: Also not very impressed with the reply to the review that seems to be copy/paste to all/most reviews. Review starts here: Doesn't load well and reloads way to often. DMs don't show up unless I go hit "show all conversations" twice. If I leave the app briefly, it starts over with the reloading and needing to hit show all twice again. It's extremely frustrating to use now.

Overall great app for team communication, it's the industry standard for a reason. One star deducted because the most recent major update has been highly disruptive and I've yet to get used to it, despite hours and hours and hours a day spent on Slack. Why on earth did you decide to not have message reminders actually come through as notifications in this new version? I miss reminders I set all the time because they just got into a freaking queue instead of showing up as a new alert.

The new mobile interface combining all workspaces in an enterprise in beyond horrible; it makes the app unusable. I now have six indistinguishable #general channels smashed together. The filter option doesn't preserve our choice between sessions when we try to select one workspace. It is deeply offensive that this change was forcibly rolled out without notice or an opt-out. Many of my colleagues have expressed outrage at this update. We demand that it be reverted.

Buggy and laggy, with incorrect notifications and all sorts of cache issues that require signing out of workspaces to correct. Signing back in (via email) is also extremely difficult and unreliable -- password is 100% the better approach but the UI makes it hard. If you try to schedule a message that is sent to @channel or @here, it will send it immediately rather than schedule it for later. Lol is all I have to say. Try Zulip.

Horrible, it hat had issues closing DMs for years, and they never do anything to fix the problem. A newer issue is now. Occasionally, when I get new messages, I can see the count, but there is no new message available to view until hours later or if I log in a pc. Setting yourself away constantly reverts to available unless you wait almost a minute to exit out of the screen.

The new ui puts every workspace at the same layer. Suddenly I have 7 channels all named "announcements," with no way to tell which one is which. This makes the app useless for my teams. We're already seeing usage dropping off dramatically. UPDATE: while you can isolate groups in both the desktop and mobile app, it doesn't make it easy to find and most of my students never find it. It also makes notifications bewildering. Most of the class gave up and moved off the system.

The new UI layout is extremely clunky and unintuitive. Several workplaces are now merged together, which makes navigating different channels more time consuming. All the channels of all workplaces are all in one page. Previously because the workplaces were disaggregated, all you need to do is swipe right and to choose a workplace. Now because it's merged, you have to click the filter button, click workplaces, then click the workplace you want to go to. Terrible UI decision.

Absolutely HATE the reply function Why is it that when you reply to a specific msg, it hides the response, and you have to go and click 'reply' underneath that message before u can see the message? Do you know how frustrating this is when you are in a large team with multiple people chatting at the same time? And if someone responds to a particular message, why not make that the most recent message? Just quote the message with the reply so everyone can see. I absolutely HATE this feature.

Terrible. I didn't know there were music, video, or huddle preferences that are automatically turned on. I have most of my permissions off so the fact they didn't ask or inform me of any such thing even though they have instructional prompts every 5 seconds but no mention of this. I only found out bc I got a data warning bc of this I used all my data and have 21 days until it's renewed. Also I never run out of data and often use wifi & had even been home until u just left to run errands.

I couldn't begin to describe what happened this morning.. Pictures were loaded up as files.. Pictures loaded up and didn't show up at all... Pictures were loaded and showed up regularly on other people's systems. But on the rest of everybody's system, nothing came up.. I have not had an issue as of yesterday. It just randomly started doing this.. I have thumbnails that are showing up as pictures from days ago. And you click on them, and it's the original upload..it's awful

Latest update is really awful. Now messages often won't send or take several minutes to send, and I have either a blank Slack notification on my notification bar the whole time it tries to send a message, or there's one that says "Sending message..." that appears and disappears over several minutes. For each message sent. Edit: I cleared the apps cache like suggested and it didn't help. I also now have a permanent blank slack notification, even when the app isn't being used and is force closed.

It is often difficult and confusing to navigate the UI and send messages. I have a relatively very high tech acuity, and this app is not intuitive in many ways. E.g., my boss recently started a group thread with three people. Seems simple enough. But then in someone's reply, it started some new "sub thread" or conversation, and when I tried to reply to that, the app prompts me to select whether I want to also send the message to the group. So confusing! Please simplify process and organization.
