CONCERNED ABOUT PRIVACY. When opening the app the first time it requests access to photos, media, and files. Only options are accept and deny. After clicking "deny" it says access to storage is required. There are no files on my phone that would be relevant, so what do they want with my files??? Too risky for me.

I find this app super educational and definitely worth my time! It includes so much and is easy to install. Not a lot of hassel. I enjoy how it shows you what is going on in the night sky and gives you specifics especially about constellations. What I enjoy is learning about the star groups and history behind the constellations that surround us. Plus you have acess to specifics about what is going to happen around you, what time, and what place it will happen. It is definitely worth having!!!

Excellent for a relative beginner, like me. Have always enjoyed astronomy, dabbled in it some, but never really studied much. This app is very easy to use and learn from. It is simple to configure to the immediate subject whether it is the planets, constellations, the moon, phases of venus, you name it. Excellent. Thank you for spending time to get it right.

Quick and Easy. I use the app for my dive into astrophotography. Also used it, when my red dot finder battery died to aim my xt8 telescope by using the compass button that allows you to hold your phone up to the sky and find whatever it is your looking for. App has every dialed into categories. Like Tonight best that you can see from your location. Brightest comets, astroids, stars, deep space objects to the Caldwell and Messier objects. Constellations too and more. A++

I've used this for a few years and alwats loved it, but now when I tap compass it wont work, augment when i move phone. Just shrinks to tiny circles like it is severly shrunk. I had to move screen to make it clear out. I've uninstalled and reinstalled with new updates. Still wont work on compass. Still have to rap and move screen to go back to normalview. Using 2019 android.

Crisp, colorful, (very) user-friendly guide to the night sky ... Even below the horizon. Super-Cool App!!! 😊 The Cosmic Collection, a $3.99 add-on provides really cool graphics, especially of the planets, and galactic perspective for stars. Its features are available when you select a celestial object, in an expanded drop-down menu.

I could revise this to 5 stars, but I just got this app and am still exploring it. Great features for a free app. I love the display customization. Great catalogue of objects for free - including comets, which is why I was looking around for a new sky app. I would like to be able to scale the opacity of the classical constellation art separate from the constellation lines.

Seems, every time I checked notifications, there was SkySafari downloading a file. Curious to learn what the heck all the downloading was about [its already using nearly half a Gig of storage], I tried opening it, but couldn't, because it won't let you in while it's downloading. If it was something like updated comet trajectories, I might tolerate this, but who knows, because after several more failed attempts to open the blasted thing, I gave up and uninstalled it! SkySafari used to be great!

There were several on the market within Google Play Store for me to try out. At first I was a little overwhelmed with Sky Safari and it's user interface. I had a lot of options that I had to sort through in order to know what I was doing. Some of the other apps were almost too easy. So as I became more familiar with Sky Safari, it clearly became my leading contender. My only complaint is my mobile keyboard does not work when in night mode. Sky Safari tries to make it red, but makes it unusable

Was told this would be a good app to track comet Neowise, so I gave it a try. The first time I run it, I get some popup saying I need to purchase the app to continue using it. OK, so why have a free download if it's a paid app? There wasn't a free trial, I literally couldn't do anything except go to pay for it. This seems like scammy behavior. Maybe by pretending to be a free app they get more downloads or visibility on the play store. I won't rate zero stars on the small chance this is some honest mistake on their part, like a connectivity issue or installation issue or something. Nobody else seems to be talking about this problem, so maybe it's just me. Shouldn't happen though.

I dont think it can get much better than this. Only seeing the free part is just hyped. How much customization there is. There is something that I think would be a great idea; With Known Location: Ability to see the assumed light pollution due to your location. I also was wondering about more landscape backgrounds or land types if not custom? Its perfect the way the app is though.

It would be BY FAR the best sky map out there, if it wasn't for its lack of AR... most others do, the iOS version does... I'm puzzled as to why this one doesn't. It's got the best interface, featureset, looks... but because of the places I usually visit, mostly surrounded by hills and/or mountains, augmented reality is a must for me.

Short obnoxious alarms that don't take you to the app. It was pure chance I was on the phone when one came up, it then gave 2 seconds to tap it, then disappears. First few times it went off I had no clue what it even was. Alarms for ISS then gives 2 minutes notice to head somewhere you can actually see it and no apparent way to change this setting rendering the app pretty much useless if you want to view the ISS.

This app is phenomenal! It is by far the best sky viewing app available. It is the only one with a live sky view for free. I also love the calendar choice of viewing any night in the past. The graphics are great. The color is sharp. The plus and minus to view deeper in space is wondrrful. I could go on and on. Thank you so much! I really appreciate what you have done.

I like the app a lot, but has notifications for events. Great, but they keep coming even if I have them off. Now it's started notifications with a ping noise. I'm keeping the app for now, hopefully this is just a big or there's a notification option that I missed, but if this keeps happening, I'm going to have to drop the rating and delete the application.

As a professional astronomer I look for tools like this that are open source this one fills the bill I don't really need the extra tools for the money it's just nice to have handy around friends and family to point out the obvious things in the sky. Addendum: I'm not sure whether the music embedded or not embedded could be causing my data usage to increase I'll try turning the music off but at present this application uses too much bandwidth and I may just simply revert back to Stellarium.

Great tool with lots of useful features. Very helpful for astrophotography and planning for rocket launch photography. I'm kind of frustrated when it keeps switching from manual movement (pinching and dragging) to auto movement (based on phone position/tilt), but that may be user error on my part. Restarting the app seems to solve it. Otherwise 5 stars.

It looks as if it could be very useful but it has stopped/closed five times tonight. I suspect this is fixable. What I want to do is to pick another place, Hawaii, a different date, June 7, and a different timezone, - 10, and a different time , around 10, 11pm and look for crux, the Southern Cross. I had difficulties doing that especially when it kept closing.

I got new phone and loaded SkySafari. I went outside and held it up and it said the moon was straight ahead. Nope. 90 degrees to the left! Then I realized I hadn't inputted my location. After that it was spot on. Great app. I've told many about the app. Too bad there's not a knob to dial down the city lights! A great tool when you can escape the city.

My favorite astronomy app, after trying 5-6 others. I like being able to toggle the compass. Descriptions are very informative. I like that you can set it to notify you of events (like satellites/planets rising). My only issue is that, although I've disabled sound for notifications via Android 8.0, notifications still have a sound. I'd rather be able to set it to vibrate or just silent, but still have a notification icon. Other than that, no issues and super useful!
