More About ScratchJr
We see coding (or computer programming) as a new type of literacy. Just as writing helps you organize your thinking and express your ideas, the same is true for coding. In the past, coding was seen as too difficult for most people. But we think coding should be for everyone, just like writing.
As young children code with ScratchJr, they learn how to create and express themselves with the computer, not just to interact with it. In the process, children learn to solve problems and design projects, and they develop sequencing skills that are foundational for later academic success. They also use math and language in a meaningful and motivating context, supporting the development of early-childhood numeracy and literacy. With ScratchJr, children aren't just learning to code, they are coding to learn.
ScratchJr is a collaboration between the Developmental Technologies group at Tufts University, the Lifelong Kindergarten group at the MIT Media Lab, and the Playful Invention Company. Two Sigma led the implementation of the Android version of ScratchJr. The graphics and illustrations for ScratchJr were created by HvingtQuatre Company and Sarah Thomson.

Let me just make something very clear: this is NOT Scratch, and if you're looking for a mobile version of said engine, you will not find it here. Scratch Jr. is a good app for what it is. It's meant to be a beginner coding engine for kids 7-, and that's exactly what it is. Nothing here is as advanced as Scratch 3, and that's the intent. TL;DR: Stop hating on this app for not being something it was never meant to be.

Good app but there is less blocks please add more blocks and make it so that in full screen you can't move anything because if you make a mistake by moving something it's over for you.

Like I have this game on my school computer and I'm just as 6-year-old but we have computing lessons on every Friday the afternoon so like it's so fun and I thought we couldn't download it on our phones but our teacher told us that we could and I was so happy and since I first play that which is today it's so fun totally recommended love this game

I'm giving it 3 stars Because There is 2 Bugs 1.Whenever I drag the object on the direction I want and when I leave. It stays in wrong area for no reason (it fixes after many tries) 2.The home button does not work. (Sometimes) BC when I clicked the Home Button then It stays on the direction that has been put wrong so. THESE BUGS ARE HORRIBLE NOBODY WANTS TO PLAY IT UNLESS IF YOU WANNA GET RAGED AND DESTROY YOUR DEVICE BY JUST 2 BUGS FIX THESE PLEASE!! I WANT MY ROBLOX GAME HAVE NO BUGS😡

Very impressed, I got the book from a shop and hadnt realised there was an app to go with it at first. The app seems very good and alongside the book it's the perfect pairing to get my lovely 5 year old that is all about computers and gaming interested in the 0's and 1's as it where, hehe. And the fact it's a free app 👌 can't go wrong.

Really great introduction to the scratch universe for young kids and a perfect to introduce the basic knowledge of coding. Having some problems downloading and sharing projects between devices on Androids though. I can send the email, the format of the project (.sjr) isn't recognised by the device or the app once downloaded though.

Scratch jr is pretty good but theres one bug. on phone the buttons are either jammed together or very apart and they are tiny. Also when i select a text box to type theres the same window popping up behind then it disappears when i stop typing. Its great exept on phones.

I love this app at first I thought that codeing was really difficult but now it is so easy because of Scratch Jr. I want them to give even the Scratch app I could not download it because it was telling me that my mobile is not compatible for the version. Please 🥺 fix that issues. I would really appreciate that.

I got the advise from my computer teacher to play this to improve computer coding and stuff and when I downloaded this it was awesome!The only problem is that whenever I make a project and try to open it,it doesn't work maybe it's a glitch or something but it's very annoying this game is perfect but pls fix this problem

Really a nice app and for children it is awesome. But there are not so many options like the original scratch. It is totally for children up to 3 to 7 years. If adult or children up to 8 years want to play actually it is very boring .It doesn't have so many options like the original one. I think you should give provide boot options please work out on it really disappointed with this in the original scratch it is not showing me my projects and this one it is very made for junior kids good however

Fun but something is quite different... The sprites are only 4 available and we want more than 4 sprites. I mean why only 4? Also while drawing, I sometimes draw lines but it automatically connects to another line which makes it a bit worse than Scratch. Also please add a few blocks (not much but at least a few would make me happier).

good job man I liked👍that.I like the jump block.good app but it still needs work.need more sound blocks and a new version of paint 🎨 editor. it need some operator blocks especially the choose random number from a number to another one. anyways the developers did a great job. to make my stars 5 please do all the things I said🙂thanks again🙂 by the way I am 9 years old

I'm trying to make a project called: "Scratch the singing cat", a fnf like game but there is broke stuff in a KIDS GAME. 1. Zooming in in character creator is glitchy. 2. I can't scroll. It only let's me drag frames. 3. This glitch is the worst in the app, again, I couldn't add a 5th Frame because my screen was filled with the frames. So I reopened the project then once I got back in, look.. all my hard work was corrupted. Into the trash. Please fix these things and I will re-download.

This game is really good and I recommend it BUUUUT when I'm trying to duplicate I can't cause it won't let me and its so annoying. I've been trying to get it to duplicate for nearly an hour now.PLEASE change this

Such a wonderful product for any beginner /kids. However, i the limitations in pages, messages doesn't support a full fledged project. Also the copy paste option not available to repeat the same instruction on multiple characters/pages. A bug to be fixed - sometimes The audio repeats or gets skipped abruptly. Hence 4 stars..

Whenever i have done the project After sometime when I check it again The sprite disappears please fix this issue and whenever it comes back and then I tap the green flag disappears again I am very disappointed in this one Scratch 3.0 is much better it also has more features and fascinating features It's good for kids but I didn't like it must It also scratch 3.0 also have a option of story line and in scratch 3.0 also have things that scratch junior doesn't have I option pls make it good, best

My experience was pretty good, it was easy to do my first project as there is a book on top left of the screen which has examples of projects. and i find clear to teach kids, bugs are clear and explained on the book what are they for. But i like it on my computer not on the phone.

I love this game but there is an issue of everytime I finished my project and play it a little bit and when I clicked the home option when I was in the project the game instantly froze and when i clicked it million times it won't load which means I have to close the page and redo the project absolutely waste of time which is why I gave it 3 stars please fix this

Awsome for kids but the original scratch is much better in features like scratch jr does not have the costume change button i.e. (change costume to (costme2)) and you must give some more clip art voice samples but it is so attractive and easy to use. One more thing, you must give and option to get sprites and backdrops from your own file. Else the backround problem and square sprite will be the problem of user. Wish you will improve but still its nice. Keep it up. Thanks,

I like this game! My daughter first started playing this at school, and she has loved it ever since! It is great and very easy to use. There are many blocks, characters,backgrounds etc. The only thing that could be improved, is the parental controls. They use very simple maths like 50+1. But apart from that, it's great and if you're thinking of downloading, definitely do so! Props to the creator(s)!
