Everytime the update this app for 'ease of use' it gets 10x more difficult to navigate. It's like those online games that keep adding features till you can't find the game anymore. Just one thing after another. Now let's take all the tabs and make them one tab but all the tabs still need to be there.. and let's do a scrolling triggered rip down that moved everythingaking impossible to see the first tings on the list as it jumps the screen all over the place. It's not good. The scanner never works, There was no reason to change the way you sign in. The app doesn't sync up with the actual website. I get text telling some of my items are out of stock. When tap the link, I get an error telling there no record of my order, log out, and try again. I follow the instructions, and I get the same message. Fix the app. Don't just say we want to help. DO IT

Really hate how difficult it is to use this app. It randomly decides that I'm shopping in the app while I'm trying to "clip deals" which is such a pain that I'll go to other stores and pay more just for simplicity. I'm told that I have to scan the code to get the discount, and I get nothing, even though there is a listed discount on the shelf. Really makes Walmart a better choice.

This app has a LOT of issues. Crashes constantly & closes. On the rare occasion it finally opens, telling me I must log back in. The app logs me out, forcing me to log back in when it finally opens. Extremely time consuming. When adding deals for J4U deals, each time you clip a coupon, the app drops to the bottom of the list, havimg to scroll back to the top. Nothing but issues. Fix the constant log in.

I am a regular user of the Safeway app, but I have to give 3stars, due to my main complaint- which is the clipping of the Udeals coupons. I clip a coupon & next thing I know, the page/ items jumps 'around'. I have to scroll upwards, all the way upwards to the top & try to start again. Each click moves the items, & I feel like I lost my place. I like to start at the beginning not the middle.This is very frustrating & time consuming. Fix this issue & I will be happy to update my review 😊 TY

Update 3/28: Well I'm presently surprised it seems they actually added a filter so now you can filter by "Safeway" and not see the external sellers! You have to do it every single time you search for an item lol but still better than it was before. Thank you! Original: I hope they stop having external sellers listed for products in the app (like food service direct) or at the very least have a filter to only see items available in store...

The new app and point system sucks. Not better at all.....worse. You cannot get the same deals you used to unless you spend a ton. I used to get the 10$ off of 50$ spent every month and other deals. Was informed with the "amazing new changes" (NOT) I have to have a certain amount of points saved. So not cool

Prices do not match the advertisement. I've scanned the Udeals in the app and in the newspapers I'm sent and they won't work, or if they do work it'll say the sale price is one thing, but when you look at qualified items, it'll show another higher sale price. The deals that you scan in store don't work either. It's not am issue of things being expired either, because I check. If a deal don't come up, it's just a "spend this much and get this much off" and not the advertised deal. Very shady

I'm not really quite sure why this app seems to be getting worse? Why would All the transaction receipts not be linked to my Safeway membership # that I have to enter every time I go to the store? Instead now your company has decided to only show the receipts that are linked to the 4(limited)cards that are in my wallet account! I'm very unhappy with this updated change which is confusing and frustrating when trying to check previous transaction receipts!!

Glitches and issues almost every time. Gets stuck on one store and if you go to a different area the prices and items are all wrong, won't load the right coupons, and fails to place pickup orders correctly without a lot of troubleshooting. I try to "check in with the app" for pick up and literally nowhere in the app to do so. Restarted the app, checked for updates, followed the direct link from the text. Had to flag down an employee and beg for help and even they couldn't figure it out.

Really love the ability to add a note to your item to get exactly what you want. Usually very fast and app is user friendly. Cons: I have to use different pay method. On tight budget. App only allows 3 cards at a time and had trouble today deleting one to add another. Frustrating. Also have to ask for receipt every time. We look over our items and want to make sure we were charged correctly.

Why should customers have to download an app they have to login to literally every single time they go to your store to see if they have the deals loaded and ready to go! Give everyone deals no matter what!!!! To top it off every time you clip something it will not just get rid of that one so that you can clip more, no it resets so that you can't add everything! This app has been a nightmare from the beginning. Like I'm expected to scan every item I put in my cart!

Tried all day to edit my schedule and save order - kept saying error - I tried 3 different devices. App is slow to respond, often it doesn't catch that you made a change adding something or deleting. I can't tell you how many time I had to redo the substitutions because if I leave and come back it erases all progress. Don't know why items say in stock when they aren't and some say out of stock but they have it. Can't edit schedule and save time/date permanently - defaults to time of first order

Update: something is going on with the app the last week, I'm not accruing any point lately on my last few transactions..... Overall decent app, the clipping coupons is a bit annoying but if you do it a certain way it doesn't "jump" back. I use it mostly for online pickup and it has been great for that with very little hiccups here and there.

Poor app-have had it for 2 years, and opened it to do a digital coupon, & was forced to accept a code sent to my email, When I went to retrieve the code, the app closed, then when I went back to the app, it wouldn't accept the code, wanted to start over, so basically a never-ending circle. It should never have required a code in the first place, since I provided both email and phone. But even if it did, shoul give the option to send via text. Very user-unfriendly, will probably delete it.

It does have a lot. However, the layout is complicated to navigate. Rewards are not customer friendly, especially when redeeming, so make sure the item is in stock before redeeming it or the reward(s) will be lost. There is a possibility that you may be inadvertently adding items to the shopping cart instead of clicking coupons.

Very bugy as of this year (2024). Extremely laggy, kicks me off multiples times. Restart the app just to have it say it cannot connect to it's own servers. I have a brand new phone with great service, no issues anywhere else. The safeway app went to the toilet this year. Basically unusable. Was Safeway losing too much revenue on the deals so they stopped updating the app?...hmm.

Needlessly frustrating! It constantly asks for my location, even though it has never changed. Whenever I load the app, in the middle of shopping, just constant. Let us set our store permanently until we need to change it again! Every other grocery app is like this. It also needs 5 seconds after you add something to cart before you scroll or change pages or else it deletes it from your cart. The WORST change was moving add note in the cart & adding an automatic checkout option - causes accidents.

min 30 dollor order fee even if you are picking up, even with the subscription active. this is a scam. delivery is nice but the times are extremely inaccurate. so you never know when they'll actually show up. plus they automatically add the tip even though I'm using food stamps and the free trial for delivery. there's no way I'm gonna pay for this. I just wanted to get some water because I'm out and it's trying to charge me extra money because I don't have enough money to place a real order.

Edit: 5.17.24, the latest update isn't registering the rewards club prices for most items. Help. The notifications are annoying. While it's a decent grocery shopping app, I build a list for shopping all week long, and it always triggers reminders that I've started a cart but haven't finished it. Text, emails, app notifications. It's annoying. I haven't forgotten my cart. I'll finish when I'm ready.
