Awesome file manager. Very stable and well performing. For the future, I would like to have more setttings/options for archive management. Also, what I really miss is transfer speed indication (for example when copying to NAS etc., competition has this). Keep up the good work!

Yeah great, fab, I've been commited to this app since Gingerbread days, but why did the old filing cabinet icon in the launcher have to grow an opaque white background? That icon is a big old no-no. It never used to be like that. Update 5th August 2024; recently I am being instructed to choose a directory for storage and whatever I choose fails permission and sends me around in a circle. This is a rabid Android issue for sure, but it impacts upon The App's useability and is beyond irritating.

I have used this app since before gingerbread. It has done everything I have needed. If you are rooted, this app is essential. The updates are infrequent, but timely. This is a good thing.

My suggestions are for the app to have 1) an option to remember all previous SMB's connections [via preferences] and show them as a picklist (this way, I don't have to retype the IP address, just the password); and 2) a selection of SMB's version to use (I have some old NAS devices on my LAN that only accept SMB v1 connection). Anyway, thanks Colin for a great app.

One (if not) the best file explorer app for Android.

Later updates have introduced problems with SMB. Root Explorer v4.12.6 (latest at the time of writing) may be unable to connect to unsecured v2 shares.

Just rooted my phone s21 ultra. (Was skeptical about it at first but so glad I did) I downloaded this app after reading the reviews about it (before rooting). And I have to say its absolutely awesome well worth £3 you can change things, look in *.apk files before installing which is brilliant. Zip files up and un zip, ifyou can even pick programs to open files like windows. it covers just about everything. Hats off to the developers. Excellent job. I

The best file manager app out there. After years of extensive use I am certain that there is no match to this app's UI, features and lots of little conveniences packed with every feature. I tried ES File Explorer, FX FE, Root Browser and many more, but this app was and still is the best option. (Even without FTP - which is the only downside. Luckily I got it in Xiaomi's native file manager)

I've been using this app for as long as I can remember. Easily 10+ years. It isn't a pretty app but it's flawless in its execution. It's insane that it's still receiving updates. I feel like I owe the dev more money. The app just works.

I keep getting told "Root Explorer has a bug". I just got this, the paid version not even an hour ago.

Dooge S100 rooted, error "After you press OK, the Android document selection dialog will be displayed. Please press 'Use this folder'." after choosing root folder on android then show "Can't use this folder, to protect your privacy, use another folder".

Disappointed that the app lacks support for dynamic colours and Material You 3 design. Icons and other elements don't adapt to system themes, which takes away from the experience. Also the UI is quite a bot outdated. Hoping for an update to address this soon.

Would be great if there was a "trash folder" for items that you delete incase you need them back😎. Can not access folders to delete in android/data anymore. Hopefully there's a fix on the way. Samsung S24+ Android 14 Thank you

Simply the best. I have used this app since it's early development. It does everything I need and more. Exceptional for working with root. Or simply as a file explorer without root. The app also handles file compression and file viewing and editing with ease. *The developer keeps updating the app to the newest versions of Android and this makes me happy*. Thanks!

ive had this app for years. it's always been good software. this loses a star because as far as I can tell once you initiate a transfer and minimize the progress screen there's no way to get it back even by tapping on the notification that there's a background operation in progress. so you never get to see how far along the transfer is.

This is the ONLY app that could actually see and delete a failed download that no other Android file manager or clearer app could find, even with the option to show hidden files turned on. The file was only viewable in Windows Explorer with the Android device connected to a PC, but Windows could not delete the file due to alleged write protection. It was clearly a corrupted file, and after trying numerous other Android apps, I hesitantly paid for this one, assuming it would be like all the rest. But it found the file and deleted it, and that alone was worth the money.

Somehow I have used this app for 10+ years and never left a review. Root Explorer is THE de-facto standard for browsing files on an Android device in my opinion. I have become so accustomed to it I truly would not be able to function without it. I use this on an unrooted device and it is just fine. Obviously I do not browse root shares. Samba / Windows Share connectivity works great and is easily my most used feature. Now that I have a VPN setup I can easily grab files from my PC remotely!
