Retroarch is a very solid catchal all option for emulating most games up to PS1 with the exception of the N64. In that particular case you need a much more specialized program. As for higher strength systems Retroarch would be better used on a solid home PC or an upper end mobile device. As for issues of loading games from SD. There doesn't appear to be an option for that so you must move any SD games to the device. Tragic but workable.

Pretty good, the only things that are missing is to be able to delete / install cores, having option topve the controllers to make it more personal and having it look like the actual control like for n64 maybe make it colorful and remove some buttons that isn't needed (like control would look like) other that I would recommend downloading it. I have no problem playing the games

This program is free, no ads, works with almost every controller I have (minus the PS3 controller because I don't root). If we could get a fullspeed PCSX2 and No$GBA port onto this hub, then I'm sold, as this is by far the best mobile retro experience I've had. Now... If we could just get a working WLAN VM in some of these programs...

Once you get it all tweaked and set up it's honestly great, but the learning curve to get there is quite extreme and then even still things will still just randomly crash at times for no apparent reason even in the app menu itself. Some instructions could definitely be provided to be more user friendly and some bug fixing is for sure in order.

That version of this is pretty decent you get automatic updates that you would normally have to manually if you went to the website only bad thing is you can't download cores as you want with the App instead it makes you do them one at a time which does take a little longer but once you have them you're all set. Definitely love how I can play everything that I have on this app a lot easier than getting multiple emulators for each game system.

Most of the cores work same as PC, but i cannot for the life of me get ps2 cores to work, and pcsx rearmed recently kicked the bucket after working fine for a week or two (thankfully beetle psx exists). I dunno what happened and i cant find any guides to help fix or explain the issue. But as i said, most of the cores, older ones mainly, do work well with little setup needed. Also for some reason settings dont stay saved; you need to press "quit retroarch" and then close the app to save settings

The app works wonderfully. However the devs have a very particular way in which they expect the users to use the software. It will take a bit more of a learning curve than other emulators to learn how to set everything up optimally. Once you do though, youre golden. Other than that Retroarch has a problem of randomly closing when backgrounded although some say its an issue with Androids battery management software. I dont have this happen with other emulators though which has me skeptical.

Emulation all in one place on android = amazing. Great job to the devs! but, not being able to load roms stored on an external otg usb is a no go for me. the file browser sees no external devices crippling you to your internal storage. for gaming... this is highly unfavorable. Unfortunately, this is a google problem, not a Libetro one and will likely not be fixed so device manufacturers can force you to buy the larger storage option when buying new phones. I do however, feel there could be a workaround for this... Some apps support NTFS without the need for additional apps. Any chance we will see this integration in the future?

Honestly, there's a lot less setup than I thought there'd be. If you're not picky about the onscreen display or if you have a Bluetooth controller (I'm using a ps4 controller), this app is almost plug and play. Especially after setting up retropie on a raspberry pi, this is streamlined and simple. Best free multi-emulator platform I've used. Edit: I imagine arcade and MAME will be more finicky, I'm currently not using any of those emus.

It's awesome but overly complicated and still lacks a few key features. I couldn't move the buttons physically like in every other emulator, the UI is far too large (I tried resizing it but it resets to it's usual enormous size), and the separate launcher is just cumbersome. It's very hard to use, although the selection of emulators and launchers is impressive. Really needs more virtual-pad settings though.

Super user friendly. Easy to map controls, built in save states, easy to select your core and upload a rom, good built in controller. It may be hard to navigate the huge menu at first if you don't have a video to walk you through the setup, and the file selection process requires you to select a directory then move up to the parent directories just to find your phone's actual directories, but that's no big deal. Preformance is also excellent, I expected much worse given my phone's specs.

Def acting up weird and more complicated than it needs to be to setup and running! The idea is great and I love it! RetroArch should consider writing or make a detailed video explaining how to setup on Android in general, then controls, shaders, cores and introduce the emulator front ends etc etc I definitely hate the UI, setup, the random cores not loading roms and the thing I hare the most is the controller, it's multiple layouts, customizing it, usage 😱

This app is amazing. I really enjoy having an all in one emulator on my phone its perfect for controller use. But my one problem is that I installed the ps4 format and I can only navigate through it with a controller. Touch screen with this format is impossible to navigate the app I hope you guys can fix this soon. Other than that and wanting some more cores this app is truly one of the best!

This is a great program, I'm glad that I have found it. Easy to set up. Its free. Covers all the retro systems I grew up with and more. A uniformed user interface, this make gaming on the phone painless. It has Touch controls and supports Hardware Controllers. Its is also cross platform, you can use this program on multiple devices. I play on my phone, but it can also be on a TV box, Pc, Raspberry Pi, etc.

Its awesome. The organization works great. One gripe I have is that sometimes scanning the games automatically won't work, but most of the time that can be fixed by updating the game database or by adding it manually. Everything that I've played on this ran great on my Samsung note 8, except some shaders. for a wishlist, a way to change the gamepad overlay a bit more easily would lo d be nice. The ability to customize the menus would be nice too.

Most people will be put off by how complicated the app seems, but with time you learn what's going on. With this app you can play most systems that can be emulated on Android with a lot of settings allowing you to customize your experience. If that was all I had to say I'd say it's a 5, however the only issue is that for higher end emulation, look elsewhere. My device can run GameCube, but through retroarch I can't play ds at full speed.

This is the best version of RetroArch if your phone supports it (64-bit, Android 8+). It works mostly very well and it's easier to use than you might think or might expect. On the downside, if you leave it inactive for too long, it will reboot and you'll lose your place, so save early and save often. In any case, you're probably better off getting the current nightly versions on GitHub than from here: versions on app stores have been out of date for one year (Play Store) to two years (F-Droid).

There is an absolutely massive issue that ruins the experience constantly. Reconnecting a controller moves the port to the next one. This has been a requested fix for 4 years and nothing has been done to fix it. By the way, you CAN use the SD card to run games. Go to storage then tap the one corresponding to your sd card. 2023 Update: It's been fixed actually, AGES ago. It's because the libretro team haven't updated retroarch on the play store specifically for many years.

I very much enjoy and advocate for Retroarch. The good is that it will play any system you would want and you can customize your experience very much. Generally runs smooth. Unfortunately I find that I waste a lot of times when the app resets my system configs. And won't read my save state files. Sometimes not even the rom save. I have these issues on Windows and Android. Today it crashed on me with 32X. I configure the emu, and a week later, I get unreliable framerates or audio issues.

This is the best emulator to have on your phone for an array of games!! The only problem I ran into is that when I play a PSX game that uses the select button on the controller my PS4 controller is rendered useless, as the share button nor the touchpad act as a select button!! I don't have a different bluetooth controller, and I absolutely HATE touchscreen controls!! Could you please fix this??
