Disappointing, this could be so much better. Great retro graphics, great real divisions/teams/kits, good management but the Retro Bowl "offense only" style is frustrating for what the rest of the world calls football. Put a timer on the halves & let the game play, no more of this missed chance nonsense, let the ball go to both ends. Auto defense coding is terrible, if you score the other team likely scores (there's nothing you can do) and often gets the ball again for some reason & scores twice!

Overall great game. Slide tackles and names of clubs could be better as some clubs have their full name but others are so difficult to recognize your don't know what the club is supposed to be. Kickoffs would be a cool addition to the game as well as names of famous players that randomly showed up. The game is great but can get repetitive but without buying the expansion to change the difficulty, it is expected. Overall a really good game and would highly recommend.

Ive tried three times to make a purchase and all three times the app crashed, took my money, and did not deliver the player. This stinks. Fix your app!!! Original Review: I've been a big fan of RetroBowl, but this is so much better. It really showcases the stylistic differences between the two versions of football. Accoldades to the development team!

Engaging gameplay and a basic GM mode keeps the game fun for a season or three (I played 7) until you gain a facility with the game. Then you keep playing hoping something original happens when you win a league, cups, etc. Nothing does. Each team is exactly like every other, and no matter how good you get, you always begin at the bottom with each new team. After my third, I decided that there was no reason to keep grinding. Retro Goal doesn't have anything for long-term players.

Super fun for a couple seasons and absolutely worth a dollar, but somewhat easily mastered and pointless to open after that. On the highest difficulty I score 95% of my opportunities and it could be 99% if I took some time to set up something. You could make it artificially challenging by not having any star players or telling yourself you're only allowed to score headers or something, but if you ain't about that life don't expect to get more than four seasons in before it gets stale.

Played a bunch more and it's really fun. You play offense only though it doesn't seem like it would take much to play a full game, which would be nice. Being able to perform small moves like a cut back with the ball would be nice. As soon as you try or stop get a slide tackled so the only option is to keep going forward or pass quickly. Hard level still seems a little easy if you have a good team. Extreme is better but it's all slide tackles.

If you've played Retro Bowl you should have an idea of what this game is like. Controls feel okay. The management system is good, however two big issues I have is how you basically can't play defense, and how players will sometimes not chase or get the ball when it's right in front of them. Overall it's a decent game, but like Retro Bowl, it can use a few tweaks that can drastically improve the game.

When I first got this game, I really liked it. It was quite addictive and the playing style was short and sweet. It was more of a challenge than other soccer games like Fifa Mobile. But I later realized some of the obvious implementations made to make you pay for microtransactions. For example, the player contracts are made to purposefully suck your money. And if a bunch of contracts end at once, you don't have enough money to replace everyone. Even teams with lower rankings still win easily.

Enjoying it so far and a nice transition from Retro Bowl. Some of the controls could do with some tinkering. Dribbling can be a little faulty and tricky to get the hang of. Not really a fan of the simulated defending. I feel you should be able to manually defend against opposition's attacks. RPG elements are pretty cool and didn't expect to see personality in every single player on my team. For instance all their hobbies and interests. Soccer games need more of that in general to be honest.

Since I absolutely loved reto bowl, I had to give this game a try. The controls and overall gameplay is simple and quite good. However, the game gets incredibly easy once you build a decent team (usually takes 3-5 seasons) and the game gets pretty boring. I am on extreme difficulty and yet I score a goal almost every time without trying. I have had multiple seasons where I win (not even get a draw) every single game. Also my full speed players get easily outrun which doesn't make sense.

Fun game! I've been playing it for quite a while and I like it just as much as Retro Bowl. Has cool old school graphics and the play mechanics a pretty good except when when you change directions after receiving a long pass where the players tend to stop. My only real complaint is that the gap between hard mode and extreme mode is a too big. I can take a team that wins by 6 goals on hard, and when switched to extreme it's almost impossible to win a game with the same team. Overall very fun!

After Retro Bowl all I wanted was this...and then you made this. I love you. Update 7/5/23: you need to make the game a bit harder. 1: Any player can just shoot from the corner of the box and score repeatedly. Stats don't even matter anymore. 2: List what the traits actually do in game or at least have a wiki 3: The fact that as soon as the enemy team kicks it across the half you lose it whether or not your players were the only ones around to recieve it is pretty annoying. Dropping to 3*

As a big fan of Retro Bowl, I found this game to be just as fun but with better graphics. Not being able to play defense stinks a little. I could see why in Retro Bowl the defense wasn't implemented since it's a different gameplay, but in Retro Goal there could have been a possibility. People comment that the dribbling and controls aren't great, but I found them to be useable. It makes a huge difference if the unit being controlled has high speed and dribbling skills as they allow you to outrun the defenders. But if those skills aren't superior, getting around defenders is tricky. Passing requires strategy, just like in regular Football/Soccer. You have to send it ahead of the person you're passing it to. If the yellow circle (indicator for headers) is ahead of your intended player, you have a better chance of not letter it get intercepted by a defender. The only major drawback is the cost of maintaining the team. You get more "bux" (or in game currency) when playing at home, since there's income from the stadium. It's much less when playing away. Newly purchased players only last for one year, and the cost of renewing them is much too high to be able to maintain a decent team. On top of that, New Star Games has added In App Purchases for getting creme-of-the-crop players. I would have rather paid $5 to unlock the whole game (it's $1 to unlock, max 10 games in demo mode before you need to unlock) rather than spending another $2.49 for a single player that will eventually need his contract renewed and eventually retire down the line. 4/5 overall.

This game is so fun! The mechanics are simple, it's easy to get a hang of, and makes me love my virtual players😂. But it's 4 stars for a reason. You can't play defense which is very inconvenient. I don't wanna lose because of a simulated outcome. Also the dribbling mechanic can be modified. The agility rating should let you speed up with the ball. Or a manual option where you can start to boost would be cool. Overall it's very fun. You have control over so much of the team and gameplan!

This gameplay is simple which is nice but a little wonky. The level of detail involved in managing your team is more than that of Retro Bowl level and I'm enjoying it very much. I tried to purchase the unlimited version (despite the lack of description of what that entails) because it was only $1 but I received an in-game error with a bunch of code so I have no idea if it even worked.

The game is amazing. As soon as I saw Retro Bowl made a soccer game, I immediately downloaded. The gameplay is easy, all you have to do is swipe. Sometimes it's annoying though when you kick off the ball and that same person gets a orange flag on their head for 5 seconds which is stupid and doesn't make sense. Just like the OG retro bowl most features are locked behind premium, but the game itself is F2P for everyone. Like me, I have 14 wins, 5 draws, and 0 losses.

I love the game but I do wish we had more customization options like in retro bowl. I feel like being able to customize player names, make our own teams or customize the team colors, etc. would add a dynamic to the game, allowing for players like myself to feel more in control. The game also lacks any fundamental changes. It seems like all of the focus is on retro bowl, and retro goal is in the background. I do wish it recieves something new or I may have to delete.

I love this game. Been playing for over a year now. The addition of the expert controls is amazing, and once you can play in extreme mode, it becomes really rewarding to score. Love that feeling. However, the new slide tackling with the expert controls is nearly impossible to use, and 99% of the time I accidently press someone else using my other finger. Please add a way to use expert controls without the expert controls slide tackling.

Very fun game despite the simplicity of it, just wish you could earn the gold bux (currency) a little bit faster/more! Its hard to get a substantial amount as you dont earn much throughout the season for wins etc... you get a decent amount if you place well in your league at the end of the season and that's it for the most part, Thats pretty much my only criticism, as stated above, its actually quite fun to play!

It's a pretty solid game with no ads. Most leagues get boring since they dont have any good opponents, though. Scoring is also way too easy since you can just shoot from afar and over the keeper. They never jump in time, ever. I struggle to lose even when I don't try, so it's hard to make a realistic looking win-loss record which I always like to do. Other than that, the physics are good and the movement mechanics are easy to get used to and enjoy.
