Great idea. It was about time devs did a useful companion app... That said: could you add a way to increase the font? Hard to read the journal on a smartphone. Also, I would love to be able to manage the inventory of the character, sell items, maybe exchange items with other players, donate to the gang, while offline... Above all, I love the ability to use the map, and get rid of the hud... Very immersive. Thanks Rockstar!

Very buggy and even worse than the website. The weapons in the compendium don't update. It won't let me buy items in the catalogue, saying that I have "30 of 3 in Satchel" for snake oil, for example. Clearly wrong, since I can hold 99 of them. Prices are wrong and don't take into account the 50% honor discount. App switches between landscape and portrait (and are locked into those). Navigation is dumb and unintuitive. Doesn't fully work with the PC version.

I like the app but I cannot connect fully to the app. I have a separate R* email for logging in and a different Xbox Live email sign in; I've had my accounts linked for years but I cannot connect to the map. It refreshes but doesn't recognize my logins. And yes I'm on the same wifi/home network as the Xbox. I've tried both Xbox and rockstar emails to login to no connection. It recognizes my progress and everything else though.

Great idea with kots of cool features but poorly executed in my opinion, the map is only good while your playing so makes for comparing progress or even pointing out cool points of intrest to others difficult, all the features take you to a website outside the app that has all.the same options for purchase as the game so not sure the real point of the app. Drains the battery and heats up my phone to the point i cant even touch it after just a few minutes of running it. Was really excited to see how much experience it added to the game by using the app and overall i gotta say it actually takes away from the over all enjoyment of red dead redemption 2 when i use the companion app along side the actual game.

It's a great app overall. It helps loads and does what it says, it is a companion app. My complaint is; after getting a new phone I cannot restore the strategy guide purchase. I can on my old but it makes me feel cheated I'm unable to download on my new phone. I. Not paying another 9.99 to unlock everytime I phone upgrade. I'm signed in to the same rockstar account on both new and old phones just to clarify.

App is great but I don't understand the point of making all the features but one take you to your browser if it's meant to be an app. Why not make it a website instead? Also the map is still not working for me even though it shows my PS4 is paired and the shop and progress tracker both work. So considering I'm missing the main feature and the others take you to your browser the app is not very useful for me at the moment. Fix the map and then we'll talk.

Pointless, doesn't do anything significant. It requires connecting to your active PS4 to load the map, but if I wanted to browse the map, I'd actually do it ingame. It offers nothing that the game itself doesn't do better, aside from marketing the strategy guide to suckers (and thankfully a guy posted the important stuff online already anyway). It's only useful for someone away from their PS4 who is obsessed. Disappointing waste of my time. Y'all could've done better than this.

EXCELLENT A companion app that actually is the definition of its function. The map updates/reacts in REAL time. The graphics aren't much and some of the icons have way to much detail for how small they are. The result it it hard at first to differentiate them. The graphics are a NONissue to me, others might disagree. Its really cool how you can buy supplies in the app also, but is a bit frustrating because it doesn't always work. Otherwise.....THIS makes that GTAV app Rockstar made look like it was made with the effort and for thought of a child or old person that didn't understand what' the point was at all.

So many missed opportunities with this app. I paid the additional $10 for the full guide. They basically just put the .pdf version of the guide book i to the app. Horrible experience. Why not build that information into the app instead of requiring me to zoom in and manually search for what i am looking for. Give me an interactive map where i can easily filter and find what i am looking for quickly.

The companion app is pretty good. lots of easy to access info. Although i may not be able to use it as much as i would like to. The persistent hud in the app can be damaging for OLED displays. I have not found any way to dismiss them. Both my phone and tablet have OLED displays and it would be great to be able to hide or dismiss the HUD/UI in the companion app. Even if it is just for the maps section.

Interactive map syncs an works flawlessly an is a cool feature, being able to order things from catalog an be sent in game plus read the journal without having to pause or interfere with the gameplay is also a time saving and cool feature! It would be cool if they had a sort of limited free guide with some information/tips as an option instead of only a paid version, an no description of what's actually on it so hard to know if worth the 10$ really.

Set it up fine and everything says it was connected at first (Xbox, social club, this app), but when I actually go to use it, it says I'm not playing the game. It literally won't recognize my game is running. Once I got it to successfully sign in, but the map still didn't work. It said I wasn't connected so I clicked on connect and it disconnected everything else. This is so frustrating and useless!

Because I only have 500 characters to write this review, I'll make it quick. The app is mostly useless. Instead of showing content in the app, most of the sections link out to an external browser to Rockstar website. Lazy coding, and not worth using. The map connectivity is however pretty interesting, but it drops connection when the screen goes off, which wouldn't be so bad if there wasn't a big pop up in game stating this every single time. The idea is nice, but this is poorly executed junk.

Not terrible. It's a great idea but falls short in a couple of significant ways. The battery drain is ridiculous when using the Map. The player marker is a little gimmicky and the app might benefit from a slower refresh rate? I'm sure that can be implemented somehow. The markers and waypoints are great, however. The links that look like other parts of the app would also be nice to have in the app. The reconnection time is already a little slow. Overall, not terrible and I'm hopeful for good updates.

This app works wonderfully, but only if you own a high end device that is compatible with it. Don't expect tablet compatibility, which doesn't make much sense. I can't give the RDR2 Companion more than 3 stars, the text size is way too small and cannot be adjusted. Catalogue access and statistics tracking links take you to the social club website. The selling point for this app is the live map tracking. It works exactly like the in game radar, but again the text size is incredibly small.

App is neat, I like the idea and it's well done overall. Only being able to use it on my phone is the worst idea ever. It drains the battery fast and frankly the phone screen is too small for it to be useful (Pixel 2). I have a tablet (Nexus 9) that meets the specs, but alas the app doesn't seem to be compatible with a tablet which is pretty mind blowing. At this point it's getting uninstalled as it is really not worth using on a phone.

New Edit: I lowered my rating of this app because over a month ago the update dropped and ever since the live map doesn't work online. The main reason anyone ever even used this app. I sincerely hope they fix this. Great "IDEA." I love it when it actually works, but a lot of the time it won't connect making it pointless. but this is great for being able to access a live map or see what's in the catalogue etc without leaving free roam screen. but i wish they would fix these bugs.

Having a companion app is a good idea. In theory, I like being able to view the map, make in-game purchases, and read the journal even when I'm not playing. But the execution is poor. Forcing the app to be used in landscape when NOBODY uses their phone that way anymore is a mistake. And all the text is so small that the readability is impaired (this is a fault that the game shares as well). And half the buttons in the app take you to external websites. Why bother building the app in the first place if half the content isn't even housed in-app? I also cannot view the map in the app even though my accounts are all linked up and everything else works as intended.

It seems like it's been a long time since I've used a good companion app but rockstar has brought a great one. The real time map is an awesome component that is extremely useful. I love being able to see a wide view of where I'm going a long with the mini map on the game. Being able to read the journal, view my character, and by clothes are really great features and the design team did a phenomenal job on the styling. Great app and I'm very impressed by it

This companion app is lacking. The interactive real time map is great. I can help navigate, track enemies locations and chance encounters with ease. But.... all of the info that is available in-game should be concurrently available on the app. I should not have to disconnect from the game to access player stats. The companion should be more companion like and contain everything within the app. The stats, compendium and other info should update in real time. If I just studied a species of fox, I should be able to see what that species requires for a perfect kill immediately. Loading my browser wastes precious time and lowers the utility of this companion app. Make the whole app and all the info as accessible in-app as the map. Please.
