Rakuten: Cash Back and Deals

Most of the time, the app is great. I've experienced some lag or menu wonkiness while shopping, but nothing too serious. My biggest issue is that I can't find my shopping trips through the app, only on desktop. Being able to look at them here would help me determine if I need to file reports for missing cash back. Otherwise, quarterly payouts always arrive on time and things are mostly fine.

App in general is ok, but can't keep the pages from making you start all over when trying to add/activate deals. If it has been in use more than a few minuites, the app freezes up, then you have to close it, reopen it &figure out where you left off, since it will change the order of buisinesses shown & keep switching them around like it's a game. I had to experiment on figuring out how to remove a card since the FAQs & chat bot wouldn't show/tell how to do so. Chat bot doesn't help much at all

Update and reply: that's the usual way to solve the issue, yes, but if the cart page is just barely long enough to scroll, and I couldn't scroll far enough to remove the bottom bar.. I was able to get it to work by scrolling really fast, eventually. Ty for your reply! One big problem with this app that I love. The menu bar at the bottom will cover the "check out" button on a lot of different websites, making it impossible to complete the transaction...

Terrible on cell phone! I signed up during transition from Ebates to Rakuten. It was good, easy to use. Since it's become Rakuten the cell phone app is so slow and glitchy I've given up on it. Also I've noticed some of my pending rebates just disappear. No explanation. I've started taking pictures of the screen with my pending rebates and information. It's overall quite disappointing because the problems are execution of the site not the concept. It's not my phone nor my OS it's the APP.

It's a good app... When it works. I've had to contact customer service more often than not to get my cashback. It won't let me add cards to my account because my phone is rooted. And in the past week, the app just keeps saying "oops, something went wrong", which is incredibly frustrating! Everything is up to date and it just stopped working.

This app is incredibly slow. An average online shopping experience usually only takes me 10 minutes max. But with this app, I'm finding myself frustrated after 10 minutes and my whole experience takes at least 30 minutes. The app glitches and half the time, I never even get my cash back. It's only worth it for big cash back options. But with a small order, I'm finding myself more frustrated than what it's worth.

Initially it was a cool experience. I overall have earned about $30 back in purchases. My last experience was disappointing though. It was my biggest purchase and apparently the store can choose not to provide cash back? Mind you, this app can take a while to load stores, so it can be time consuming, but I figured it was worth getting cash back for my every day purchases. After my last purchase, I'll be uninstalling this as it definitely isn't worth the hassle of shopping through this app.

I had a 5 star review originally. However, if you go to the apps help pages...I do hope you have more patience than I. A helpful automated assistant chatbox will pop up over ever.single.screen that you navigate to. It is ridiculous. I cannot find a way to disable it. That most likely speaks to my lack of intelligence. But, anyway, I love everything else!

The website is mostly good, but the mobile app is terrible. You can find all your account information and activity on the website, but the mobile app doesn't have any of that. Then you have to use the mobile app for rakuten dining, but the sort feature doesn't work at all. I live near Seattle and all the restaurants the app is showing me are in San Francisco. The rakuten dining needs much better search and sort functions. Should be able to search and sort by zip code, city, cuisine type, price.

It's a great app until you need help that their BOT can't figure out how to solve. I keep getting the same scripted response to my question that has nothing to do with my question. Extremely frustrating. I have used this app for years, but this is the first year I am experiencing so many app glitches. I'm beyond frustrated and UNWILLING to refer anyone else until they fix the issues. Suggestion: get a smarter BOT.

When I open app to find specific deals and click on the store, I receive an error page telling me "net: err_unknown_ URL_scheme" and will not go through. This only happened after the recent update. I have repeatedly cleared the app cache and data, uninstalled then reinstalled the app. Shut off my phone and turned it back on. But still receive that error page when trying to access the store to earn cash back. App is not usable.

LIES! App freezes, so can't use to shop & even VERY difficult to JUST complete purchase, especially if need to make changes. Only pays for @25% of orders & trying to contact them to fix is a losing battle. Can't even see text box to reply to bot questions, causing me to redo multiple times until I give up. Am very frustrated how HARD app is to use. Same problems w/Walmart & can't use w/in-store purchases! Thought was phone space/mem issue but got new 1 & still problem so is App. WASTE OF TIME!

I love the cash back, but for some reason, shopping through the app causes FREQUENT crashes and lagging. Rakuten Browser extension doesn't work like it used to when shopping (notifying of better deals, notification to activate, automatically counting shopping trips, etc). That being said, unless the cash back is over 8%, I just end up shopping through the website itself or using another rewards program.

Update: I have done what has been suggested several times and still an issue. In addition, while shopping on certain stores, especially Nike, majority of the items I want to look at do not load and show an error message. It doesn't happen when I look at the item on Nike app or browser so I know it's an app issue. I'm not sure what's changed but the app runs incredibly slow.

I opened an account through a referral link a few days ago. I was supposed to receive the $30cash back after spending $30+ through the app, but it was never added to my account. For days, II've been trying to connect with a person to help with this issue, but the customer service seems automated. It keeps repeating the same requests. I oblige. Then it tells me that I was credited. I can't get any answers. The customer service phone number online just tells you to get help through the app.

Watch your account closely or you will be ripped off (things remain pending, purchases don't show up). So far everything has been resolved, but if I wasn't watching it daily it would be my loss. I miss the customer support they used to have. Also, this app is like trudging through wet sand, while all the other apps whizz by. Very slow and glitchy.

I appreciate getting cash for buying something I would get anyway... However, I "referred a friend" and the $30 reward showed up in my account for one day, and then it was taken away without explanation!! I tried to reach out to customer service - but despite explaining the situation multiple times on multiple customer service platforms; I received no assistance. Totally disappointing and lame.

Rakuten has gone down the drain and has become quite literally, mostly a waste of one's precious time. Continually in the middle of shopping trips I am kicked out and given an "access denied error. Extremely aggravating, especially for tedious shopping trips. It happens ALL THE TIME the past few months. Or when it finally it does let you back in, the check out button doesn't work. What a joke. I'm now to the point where if it happens one or two more times I'm going to be done for good.
