PrivacyStar app is #Excellent @blocking spam. Also, it has identified incoming numbers 4me, 9x of 10 [on a scale of 10]. It does so discreetly, in a non-intrusive manner. I'm glad it can recognize unknown numbers that come in via text as well, except for texts it will require digging into the PStar app text log, click on the 3 dots on top right of the log and select view in order to see who's name it belongs to. Its definitely on its way to catching up with Hiya, but without the controversy 😉👍

I'd love a "keep alive in background" feature where the provacystar logo is shown in the notification tray and tapping it gets me over to the app. I'd feel safer tbh. Also, when I swipe on the history section to do a fast scroll down that list, the app kicks and starts scrolling up slowly

Scrolling on the list of numbers it keeps bouncing back to the top, very irritating. Also every couple of months it acts weird, I have to uninstall and reinstall it. Once I find a new one that works, this will be gone.

Works for the most part, but one HUGE issue. If you are already in a call and someone calls in, the app hangs up the current call immediately. Wasted 30 minutes of my time today doing an auto insurance quote, just to have this app disconnect me at the end for this reason. Currently disabled, let me know when it's fixed.

The app works fine if all you want is the city and state of who is calling you. As for stopping scam calls, the call comes thru and a few seconds into a conversation it just hangs up on them(thus making you the rude one). I dont feel I got what I paid for. The block on my phone works better at blocking known scam numbers than this. AARP recommended this but I feel it is a complete waste of space on my phone. The only identities it has given me for phone numbers were those already in my phone book

App used to work great! It used to be worth the $20 a year I was paying, the latest update changed the game and the app started blocking any call not in my address book, I missed SEVERAL calls of doctor appointments and other important places because of the app. I finally deactivated it so it would quit blocking everything. I emailed support and they said this was basically the new normal, if it isn't saved in your phone, it gets blocked. Disappointed in the new update. Uninstalled and cancelled

New version: What happened? Spam calls aren't being blocked and I have to look them up myself? Ii hope you're not charging me for this because it's certainly not worth what I was paying. Previous review: PrivacyStar identifies who's calling, and is great for blocking spammers. I've used this app several years and have been quite satisfied with performance. It's a Must Have app!

Update: App stopped working. Now goes to screen that says enable 4 permissions which I did but just keeps going back to that screen asking for permissions over and over. Update part 2: Sent off an email yesterday to support and viola they had me back up and running in no time. Best part about this app other than it works great is the great support team. Thanks Devs, great app, even greater support team. Best blocking app out there.

Why have an app on the market with premium services and a 30-day trial on those premium services that just doesn't work, and when customers try to contact you on said tech support issue, you greet them with a standard troubleshooting FAQ menu and the message that you are marking the problem as solved. AI is not the answer for everything people. Stay away from this developer

It worked OK until a few days ago, now it automatically rejects all of my calls, regardless of if they are in my contacts or not. I also initially got this application because I was getting international spam calls, however it did not allow me to block international calls, only standard ten digit US numbers. Finally, it just rejects the calls the caller is still able to leave a voice mail annoyingly.

Another app Google destroyed once again! I really don't like apple or Microsoft either. I have a hard time with buying a $1000 or more phone that is limited to the program on the phone, Google Microsoft, apple etc. I want to download apps from wherever I want. Google ruins every useful app on here. This was one app that kept you out of harms way. There are no more options protectimg you from advertisers. If I got paid 3cents every time I answer the phone or complete surveys, I'd be rich.

The reverse number search or identifying the owner of the income number is a joke. It seldom happens! You may get lucky to find the owner after the caller hangs up in the home list, but seldom when the phone is ringing when you need it most. It will identify numbers in my phone contacts list but not much else. I've had better luck Googling numbers! As a paid subscriber, I should be getting better than this!!!

I have had this app for a few months now and I paid the 2.99. I'm not sure what the app is even doing, I get calls constantly and according to my dashboard in that time it's only blocked 8 calls all of which I added to the block list. Zero scams blocked and zero nuisance calls blocked. Still trash, above comments are still true and it also never tells you who is calling. I'm deleting as soon as this is posted.

This update is so horrible I wish I can give no stars. You added voicemail and it overrides the one built in the phone. I can't get it back 🤬🤬🤬. Not only that but you restricted all settings so now you can't do anything but to turn off whether you want to see a notification or not. I am no longer getting voicemails unless it's on your app. I have uninstalled only to learn that your app controls my voicemail and the only way to get them is to use your app. Whoever decided on this needs fired!!

As a marketing technologies developer, I am always amazed at "solutions" that try to do too much and as a result fail to do so because they overeach or when the inevitable changes outside their control (upon which they depend) come along it breaks the tool. Not so, Privacy Star. It just works. Within a couple of days, my incoming calls are under control. Great. Simple. Done.

PrivacyStar was running well enough that I paid the $2.99 subscription when it came up after the trial month a few years ago. I used it to quickly block spam calls. Unfortunately a few days ago they completely changed something with it without telling me, and now it wants me to activate "conditional call forwarding" and agree to use their servers for voicemail. I am going to ask for an explanation or an option to opt out. If I'm dissatisfied I will be canceling the service.

Privacy Star was one of the best apps in the original 4.x version. The new version updated then deleted all the messages that were stored. The calls that were made/received remain on the app, except no one can leave a message. If you had messages saved before updating the app "BE AWARE THAT THEY WILL ALL BE DELETED" I had several important messages with appointments and every voice message was deleted during the update. I wish there was a warnig that stated voice mail messages will be deleted.

Helps me avoid nuisance calls, especially at work. It's great! (2017) After 4 years, I find it interferes with my voice mail. It also auto-blocked a bunch of numbers that interfered significantly with my job search. At this point I uninstalled it, and it STILL interferes with my regular voice mail system, leaving me messages that the app can't connect and voice mails aren't allowed. (2021)

I installed this app over a year ago and it worked amazingly. Just a few months ago, they updated the app, and now it is HORRIBLE. I used to get a pop-up when a call came in that showed me the the caller information, that is now gone. I used to be able to look up numbers, now I just get "information unavailable" and worst of all, it BLOCKS ALL CALLS that aren't in address book, and doesn't allow me the option to see or unblock numbers that were blocked. I have missed so many calls. Uninstalling

I have had privacy star for over a year and it has stopped a lot of the robo calls and unwanted calls it is a great app. Once I updated the app it stopped working properly. It does not pop up to block calls at all. The app is definitely not user friendly. I may not renew my subscription when time is up unless they fix these problems
