More About Privacy Browser

The only way to prevent data from being abused is to prevent it from being collected in the first place. Privacy Browser has two primary goals.
1. Minimize the data that is sent to the internet.

2. Minimize the data that is stored on the device.

Most browsers silently give websites massive amounts of information that allows them to track you and compromise your privacy. Websites and ad networks use technologies like JavaScript, cookies, DOM storage, user agents, and many other things to uniquely identify each user and track them between visits and across the web.

In contrast, privacy sensitive features are disabled by default in Privacy Browser. If one of these technologies is required for a website to function correctly, the user may choose to turn it on for just that visit. Or, they can use domain settings to automatically turn on certain features when entering a specific website and turn them off again when leaving.

Privacy Browser currently uses Android’s built-in WebView to render web pages. As such, it works best when the latest version of WebView is installed (see https://www.stoutner.com/privacy-browser/common-settings/webview/). In the 4.x series, Privacy Browser will switch to a forked version of Android’s WebView called Privacy WebView that will allow for advanced privacy features.

Features:
• Integrated EasyList ad blocking.
• Tor Orbot proxy support.
• SSL certificate pinning.
• Import/export of settings and bookmarks.

Have had it for quite a while now. It's still the very best when it comes to customization. The print page function is great and I would recommend it to anyone who appreciates his privacy.

This browser has all the features I've been looking for in one clean intuitive package. It just keeps getting better with every release. ✌️

Not too bad. Still unsure on user agent and if it really matters though. The block list is crazy sweet. UI could use some dressing up, coloring and smoothing for the future.

I've been using this as my default browser for quite a long time and I'm very happy with it. If you are concerned about privacy issues (which you should be), this is the browser to pick. The developer is truly focused on this aspect and is also very helpful. Definitely recommended.

Editing my previous review. First , this is my default browser now. Probably no other browser gives this much of privacy option and control than privacy browser. And hats off to the developer. Keep on the good work.

This should be the default browser in ALL Android phones!!!!! I sincerely appreciate the developer's honesty on creating this browser. This is the only browser I trust to do my banking on. Thank you sir! Keep up the amazing work!

It automatically opens Brave browser when a pop-up occurs. Suspicious. EDIT: It is not my default browser, which is why I thought it was weird.

Very fast and lightweight browser. My favourite to secure privacy online. Thanks developer. UPDATE: I do like this new update! Tab browsing, left and right swype menu. And mostly your privacy first! UPDATE: Like the new built in download manager.

Excellent browser, fast, easy to use, no ads, allows fine control over cookies, trackers and so on. I particularly like the way it handles bookmarks. Brilliant. Thanks and keep up the good work Soren.

Privacy is not only about giving users right tools for the job but also about educating them. I am impressed how user-friendly a security app might be. Included guide is a worthwhile reading by itself, with even more background available on Mr.Stoutner's web site.

Overall a good browser for my needs. Thanks for the bottom app bar in latest version. 🙏 {Request : A toggle to keep history or not would be very useful. Sometimes browser accidentally gets cleared from recent panel & all my browsing is gone!!}

Wow what a unique browser you can neutralize anysite like Google to stay behind while you surf with confidence. I used Soul browser it has okay features but nothing like privacy, I've always seen it but never tried now I'm wrapped. I also like mojeek great choice, also trackers have no hope tracking me. Its slightly different but easy, & hope i learn all functions. I hope updates aren't rare thank you Dev 😎 Suggestions- app icon very outdated a new sharp look wouldbe nice.

Tried the free version and was happy so bought the full version. I like it pretty much and no big problems. Good communication with developer from experience (thanks, missed the guide completely somehow!). It's fast, offers many options and pretty much what I was looking for!

All the features I expect from a browser to protect my privacy as much as possible. Simple to use and configure. ~ It was a no-brainer to buy the full version! ~ But I would love to see a somewhat reduced context menu. It grew too much, with the last couple of releases.

👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾 After evaluating several browsers, this is the first one that has two things I was looking for: a decent forced dark theme AND clear all data on tab closing and on exit. Most of the other so called privacy browser are just light copies of Chrome and don't have an option to clear your data automatically.

Very underrated browser. Does not take up very much resources. It does not stay in memory when closed. Has excellent ad blocking. Open source. The price is very reasonable as well. This is a real gem, And I've used many browsers. This is by far the best

Navigating is tricky (sometimes difficult) because Escape, which I'm used to using to move back a level, dumps one out of the browser, whereas the center button (android) pops out but leaves websites open. I would suggest making escape move back a level, and the attention button close and purge data, if its set up for that on exit. Also, when browsing, a pop up keeps occurring, asking if I want to use the Google or Samsung browser. I've set my default to Duck Duck Go, but don't want ads.

Great. The only browser on Android I know of that makes it easy to control JavaScript, cookie and DOM permissions per site without a big hassle. Which is a huge need these days (that other browser devs are ignoring) if you have any concern over your privacy. It also deletes all data folders on quit. My reasons for no full stars are the lack of ability to save trusted cookies, and I don't entirely trust WebView which is based on Chrome. Settings profiles would be nice too. Keep up the good work.

Can we get an option to not clear cookies on a per-domain basis? The linked issue isn't exactly like I was hoping (and hadn't been updated in 2 years). I want to clear most cookies, but not those for my internal home lab services like Gitea or Adguard. Duckduckgo lets me do this. It's the only thing keeping me from fully switching.
