They have "refill on" service. That is turned on by default. You need to turn off it. Otherwise, it will be silently charging you. They don't have a phone number. Everything goes with email. Each email is replied to by a different manager. And you need to explain all over again. It was the most insane experience I ever had! Update: it took only 20 emails to get refunded. But they didn't do it in full. Hopefully, it will take only another 20 emails to know why. Unprofessionalism as is. Be aware.

There's a lot of options for teachers on Preply and you can choose one that's best for your individual needs. I found a great teacher, but the app itself isn't great. It's very buggy, so we use Xoom insteadm The video and sound quality on Preply is so bad. You can't effectively learn a language if your sound and video are glitchy.

Love my tutor. Hate the app. I've tried using it in my phone and my laptop. The tutor walks me through exercises but it's too small to see on the phone and on the laptop, in full screen mode, the classroom will only open to a small section in the topleft corner. Making it impossible to follow along with the lesson plan. One of the many issues I've had include longing out of Preply and shutting down the app on my laptop but my teacher still has access to my camera and microphone. That's creepy.

This is a great app. I love the platform. I would've given it 5 stars if there was a way for tutors to rate their students as well. Students should receive feedback after each lesson on their performance, progress, and effort in each class. However, currently we are just rating the tutor. Hopefully you can integrate that.

The app is useful only in a couple of cases: to schedule on the spot & to message/receive messages from teachers. To perform other tasks, the app is faulty, including scheduling sessions, cancelling-rescheduling sessions & transfering your balance between teachers. For all else it is necessary to use a computer, so I would say that the preply app is accurately critiqued at just 2 stars.

I found a great teacher through preply, but the app's video chatting feature would over heat my galaxy s9 and would drain the battery incredibly fast. We switched to video chatting through google hangouts to avoid the problem. Preply was then only used as a payment method. However they turned my settings back to auto-refill for lessons which I specifically turned off because I like to be aware of my transactions. The settings function has an ever spinning circle, so I cant turn off auto-refill

The app and video chat occasionally has some issues. And if you try to do lessons using your phone it will drain your battery super fast. But finding a tutor is super easy through Preply, and they give the option of trying out different tutors if you don't mesh well with your current one.

With the world of streamlined apps and ease of use, especially with the advanced chat functions found in every app, it is very surprising for me to use an app that really has excellent design and functionality - except that the chat is terribly unreliable, buggy, slow, and often the links to zoom meetings don't work. Nobody uses the preply in app classroom that I know of, and zoom free isn't much better. If you use it with WhatsApp it would be so easy. This app could be perfect if debugged.

This app makes the world seem so much smaller when you can talk to people on the other side of the world multiple times a week in their own language. It's a must have for any language learner, because nothing beats being able to talk to someone in their native language. Downsides of the app, most tutors use Zoom because the preply video space is not a great learning platform. Also, I no longer get notifications when my tutor messages me, so sometimes I miss important messages if I don't check

I found an *absolutely fantastic* teacher and am having a great learning experience. My only gripe so far is the subscription model: there is a feee trial lesson and then you can only monthly. You can't buy classes as packages (ie 5, 10). You can't schedule the next month until the auto renew occurs. If I have a weekly lesson that's one day after auto-renewal, I can't schedule it until the renewal happens. There's also limited rollover if you over purchase one month.

Rescheduling on the app didn't work (from the tutor's side or ours), so there were many misunderstandings with the tutors. Also, Preply locks you into billing, so that even if you can't find times that align with your tutor, you're still billed for a certain number per month. A pay-as-you-go system would be good, but what ended up happening was we paid for about 12 tutoring sessions and actually received about 4. The tutors were very good, but Preply's system is flawed.

Tutor is great. App if awful. I'm sure preply will write some meaningless platitude in response to this review. I've been doing great in my lessons for 2 years, but if I take a single lesson off (sometimes work is busy or sometimes I just need a break!), I get bombed with notifications about how my lesson streak has been broken, preply misses me, etc. Sounds like an ex begging you back. Screw off! Changing lesson schedules is such a pain. And somehow when the app updates, it just gets worse.

I have been enjoying this resource. With the help of my tutors i have been able to push forward in my studies, and there is a wide range of tutors available from a number of countries. The tutors options i feel are plentiful. Video and audio quality are great. I've experienced minor technical difficulties, but they happen very seldomly and they are usually easily resolved with resetting either the browser or computer.

My teacher is amazing. I love her. 100/10 experience so far with her. As far as the app itself goes -9/10. It's really an easy way to pay the teachers. When it works it is amazing. However the odds of it working are so low it's not even worth trying to meet on. For the first few lessons it worked fine and then all of a sudden it just stopped connecting. Their IT support is absolutely horrible and will blame your internet which NO other website has an issue with as the reason for the failure.

I've had only good experiences on this app. My tutor is amazing, though I wish the tutors were paid more fairly from the app itself. The app protects students and tends to favor students over the tutor. But it's quite easy to use and has lots of helpful qualities- such as reminders, the ability to see your tutoring schedule on a calendar, the ability to have automatically repeating lessons at specific dates/times, etc. Overall, great app! I only wish they treated their tutors better

It's highly inflexible for teachers. Aside from the huge chunk they take of commission. Then you have to work entirely for free for one hour if a student requests a trial lessons. Its more common to get students requesting trials than regular students. Their platform is slow and clunky. The also penalize teachers more than students. It's a money making machine for them. You're better off marketing on other platforms and not relying exclusively on this one.

So far, the instrictors I have encountered have been excellent, but the scheduling app is extremely difficult to understand and leads to many errors/missed lessons. Notifications also do not always properly reflect the schedule, if they are received at all. I am a big fan of Preply, but the app needs urgent attention, especially if students are going to be charged for missed lessons and misunderstandings arising from app issues. The customer support is also text-based, which takes much time.

Good functioning app and good teachers. Awful system. This subscription thing totally unnecessary and more of a hassle. I use Italki and Verbling with real flexibility. Unfortunately I found a great teacher and I have to put up with this ridiculus system. Get rid of subscriptions and give the user real scheduling flexibility without having to maneuver through the system.

I really wanted to like this app but sadly my first experience with UI was awful. Accidentally clicking on "lesson completed" field marks the lesson as completed and there's no way to get it back in the queue, by the student or the teacher, even if you're in the middle of the lesson and it has not been completed. This seems really absurd and a flaw in the app that needs fixed.

It's easy to find tutors, get/send messages, and schedule lessons. It could have been more transparent about how subscriptions work, though. You have to pay for a month at a time, with a minimum of four lessons. The other thing that was a little problem the first time is that the actual lessons work better on a laptop because if the tutor shares their screen, it's too small to see on a phone screen.
