It's been a couple of years since I have used Plantsnap. I started using the app again. Not very happy with the experience lately. The plants I have taken pictures of have not identified correctly. I used to be able to save the photo for future reference on this app, now not at all. I've even considered deleting this app and searching for another plant app. I'm hoping Plantsnap can fix/tweek some issues on the app. I really liked it before and really don't want to change.

After a year, it has yet to ever correctly identify a plant for me. So I updated the software and gave it one more try. This time it kept crashing while trying to start a force product survey. Good intentions but very poor execution of that was a product satisfaction pole. When I figured out how to bypass the crashing survey, it failed to identify a plant once again. Uninstalled. Too bad, I was hoping for a plant version of the Merlin app for birders.

Great idea, but it failed in 4 of 4 identifications. I followed the instructions impeccably. When it missed on a purple oxalis, I tried it on a more common post oak, a beautyberry, and something else easy. It showed answers that didn't look at all like what I snapped. I'll try again someday when the database is fuller and algorithms are improved.

Works great and as expected for a free app. Very easy to use. I like that you can take a photo of the plant or flower with the actual app, or load a picture from your phone's picture gallery for identification. Sometimes can't seem to find the correct flower or plant, but most times I can. The only downside is that some plants and flowers seem to be incorrectly identified and added to the app's photo lineup of a plant making a correct identification tricky.

this app is terrible. only identified 1 of 7 images of common items, such as cucumber, tomato, dill, and other herbs, correctly. all of these were giving me some exotic plants I've never heard or seen before. gives you a few other options of what it could be, but if it's still not there, you can get more but really only if you pay for the app. the information is good though and fairly thorough when you want to find out more about something. it would be a great app if it was more accurate.

This is terrible. The first thing that it guesses after a really good picture has literally not been even close 9 out of 10 times. if the picture I have taken looks like something listed as other possibilities, I look at 10 pictures and seven of them look like completely different plants. I tried this app last year, and again this year, and it's been useless. I have been lucky if it identifies two out of two dozen attempts correctly.

Effective but unstable. I'm able to identify a lot of plants with a combination of this app and a little googling. It's much better at searching than any other options I've found. However, it crashes a lot, particularly when trying to upload an image for identification. Hopefully they will work out the bugs.

Awesome app! Very informative and accurate most of the time. Make sure you take good photos, the closer you get to the detail of leaves and such the better. But not so close as to only see a small portion of the plant. Lol. A good picture would be a leaf, or flower head and leaf. If a leaf has three lobes, then try to get as close to showing all three lobes. Pics too far away could give false results. The ads are bearable :-)

This app does a truly amazing job of identifying plants with great accuracy. I showed it to a landscaper and even he was blown away (then he promptly downloaded the app himself). There are, however, some features I would really really like to see. I’ve listed them in order of relative difficulty for the app creators, going from easier to more difficult:1) Country of origin2) Native/non-native indication for my area. 3) If non-native, an indication of whether the plant is classified as invasive. This would be of great use to me as I try to establish an all-native landscape for my yard and the woods behind my home. But please know that this app as it is has already made that project so much easier. Thank you!

I appreciate the reply. I have gone through the instruction video and the demo videos. I have framed my photos per the instructions. I took photos per all of the above. It still comes back with several guesses. I take more photos. Some of the results are the same as the first photo, but the app adds a couple other choices. It seems that this app STILL does a lot of guessing. Thanks anyway. P.S. Almost daily updating?

Not very user-friendly and poorly designed. I always seem to be hitting the wrong buttons as it's not very intuitive. It tells me I'm out of snaps before I've used even half of my quota. As for identifying plants, that part is pretty good. It is prone to error messages and glitches, however. I would therefore be very reluctant to try the paid version.

Very dissapointed. So many ads and buying options on the screen that very little plant ID info is visible. More a plant shopping app. Wasnt able to find a way to create a personal library of plants searched for reference, etc. Very limited pictures of plant to use as comparison or to see it in other stages. App has been useless to me. I work at a public garden and am constantly ask to identify plants. Maybe i'm using it wrong. But then it should be more intuitive. Switched back to Picture This.

I hadn't used this app for a while but recently started to again. The overall app experience has degraded quite a bit imo. I used to get correct results 90% of the time, but now it's more of a 40% chance it will be correct. I used to be able to simply "correct" the identification if it was wrong by tapping on the correct plant, but now it's much more complicated. Snaps no longer automatically save and the process to save them is pretty annoying.

I don't know where to start. Well first if all the app hardly works. Sometimes it works, other times it just freezes up, and then the app shuts off. When I have a clear picture of a flower, it always says re take, and then freezes up. When it doesn't freeze up, when I'm in the middle of taking pictures of flowers to ID, multiple ads just pop up and start playing. When I lead the ads out, the app shuts completely down.

Dont waste your time and sd card space. You only get so many chances to identify a plant. Then it gives you the option to pay or watch an add for more "snaps". I watched the same add three times and it didnt credit me a single pic. Im uninstalling, the software for identifying the plants is as good of a guess as what i can make on my own anyways. Really... good luck in the future! the concept is admirable, technology just needs to catch up.. and poo on adds.

I LOVE this app and paid for the premium version mainly to support it. It's really useful and I highly recommend it. However take into consideration that in my experience; having a difficult plant to identify and sending it in to be evaluated by an actual person has proved disappointing. It's been months and I've still yet to recieve a response. To sum up; a wonderful app great for documenting fauna around you and learning more about them, but wish it was better monitored for premium.

On June13, 2020, I got a $14.99 subscription to your app, but after using it a few days, I found it didn't work as well as expected. Auto-capture rarely worked & suggestions provided were inaccurate in all but 2 instances. Therefore, I'm uninstalling now and sent you an email requesting a refund. Please let me know if you need any more info to expedite the processing of my refund. I think your app has a lot of potential. Good luck with your future updates! 🙂

Tricksy, Tricksy app. Tries to trick you into paying for a year subscription by offering a 7 day free trial, but the link takes you to a sign up page for a trial that is only 3 days. If you're not paying attention, they will charge you for a year when you think you're still on the 7 day free trial they offered. Tried to use it without subscribing, but it starts on the sales page every time. No option to stop asking. Annoying.

Doesn't actually do a great job at identifying plants. It shows similar looking plants, and you decide which one it is. I find it easier to reverse image search on Google. It was faster and more reliable. It works better on plants with flowers, but if you are looking for anything else, it is pretty mediocre. I won't be renewing my subscription because I can get better results for free with a resource that is automatically installed on my phone.

Horrible app. I bought the lifetime premium version long ago because I liked the idea of the app, but it doesn't identify plants. It give options that look similar to choose from and they are usually either way off or too similar to tell apart. Also it won't ever save my post, it says it does but as soon as I leave it, it deletes it.
