Unsure, can't create/see stories (desktop does, but the app doesn't?). Can't switch accounts, credentials are cached even though the app has been restarted. Have to work through intuitive usage before rating is more substantial.

I am really enjoying this app altho it still has a long way to go. Interface is fairly clunky (has the feel of a beta version). With the latest update, the back button has stopped working (on my phone at least) so I have to use the on screen back arrow. There are many non English speakers using this app, it would be nice to have a built in translator also, a way to alter the fonts- for someone with poor eyesight there is much that I am unable to read. More users will mean the app will get better

I dunno, so far the functionality has been really weird. I tried to join one channel, said it wasn't compatible or was down. I joined one of the main channels, posted some art, I later deleted it to add more to the post...and now I can't login. It's giving me the same error/notice as the other channel...wth is happening??

Seems okay so far. I've had the app for a while but was only just accepted into the server I wanted to be in. Immediately, I noticed that any posts with long text get cut off, and there's no option to expand it. You have to go to the persons profile to read the full text.

Great as a Facebook/Instagram alternative, but app loads far slower than the website and is pretty janky to boot. Small price to pay through, the community is pretty great at the moment. How that might change as more people migrate is anyone's guess, but so far only people who are cool enough to take issue with Meta platforms have made the jump.

So far, so good. I kicked the meta verse out of my life and found Pixelfed. I like it. It needs a few tweaks, the layout is good and reminds me the good old IG before all the BS and ads. We need dark mode in the background and the app glitches while editing a post, which I find myself unable to do.

So far the experience has been fairly negative. Logging in was difficult, especially if you don't remember what server you originally joined. Once I chose my server it launched my browser which I was already logged in to, asked me to authorize and then took me back. After that it sat on the servers screen doing nothing for 30 seconds until I tried clicking on my server again. Nothing happened, so I clicked again and again and then I was presented with delayed error pop ups for each click.

It's decent, but not perfect. 3 issues: 1. a dark theme would be great, for the eyes & battery life. 2. pressing the back button doesn't go back. You have to tap the arrow. 3. Is there a way to view the whole image, when I click on it? It's cut off, & I can't see a lot of the image.

This app needs a lot of work. It randomly won't load profiles, home feeds, or frankly anything. Sometimes when I open it it says I need to log in again and then says the instance I made an account on is incompatible. Which makes no sense cos it's the "original" instance. I really like the UI and the idea but before people can move to it, like Bluesky from Twitter, it needs some serious polish.

I just downloaded this on Android. I love the idea of it. I think it has a lot of potential, but i already am experiencing lots of problems and issues. I.e. no matter what I do, I can't update my pronouns. For the people I follow, I can't read the text in their posts. There's the ellipses showing that there's more... but it opens up nothing. I hope these basic things get ironed out soon so I can explore it more

Looking to get away from Meta apps (ie. Facebook and Instagram) and Pixelfed does seem like it could eventually be a good alternative. Right now, its difficult to login to the app once you've made an account and the servers don't always work. There also isn't a lot of content, though that's obviously because it is a newer app so I'm sure that will change as time goes on. A suggestion I'd like to make is to add a dark or "night" mode to the app for people sensitive to the white mode.

Good start! I'd like to see some QOL updates, like being able to expand all of the text on a post by tapping the ellipses instead of pressing "view post", and I can't figure out a way to edit my profile or username from the app itself (I had to edit my profile on my PC), but I'm excited to see it grow. Would love to give it five stars in the future.

There is great potential here, which is why I didn't give it only one star, but that potential NEEDS to be realized. I was unable to edit my profile until I navigated through the help screens. Liking other people's posts is awkward as you fave to select each photo rather than scrolling through them like the 'other' guy. There's no way to turn on a 'dark mode' screen sometimes I can't get on the server, other times I can get on, but I cant upload photos. I really want this app to be better.

can't edit my bio or website on my profile. button targets are not big enough. not clear what the local feed is supposed to be. can't see the image i'm adding alt text to. uploading a single image post is pretty slow. discover page is kind of bland. needs more feeds imo (like bluesky). in app notifications were duplicating the one notification i had over and over—seemingly fixed after receiving more than one notification. long post captions and comment captions are not expandable.

I like it, it is refreshing. Much like instagram of old before it was consumed by meta, reels, and stories. It needs some tweaks that I'm sure will get figured out. No dark mode, no way to see comments I've made, captions don't expand and it will only access 4 of my 13 picture albums when I want to post. Those are my biggest gripes. I'd be happy to replace instagram completely with this so long as it improves and gains traction. I will filter off instagram and start using this more regardless

I think it's worth giving this app another shot. I initially posted a negative review but the issues have been fixed. I fully intend on abandoning Instagram, and while this isn't a one-to-one replacement of it, I actually think even that wouldn't be ideal. While the main issue I have with this app is that there's basically nobody on it, I think that speaks more to how modern apps have conditioned us to always have more content to scroll and waste time on.

It does the stuff I want! I can upload photos. I can follow and be followed. I love that it's not part of the Zuckiverse. It could use a few more features down the road, like I want to be able to see who liked each post (not just in notifications, but within each post).

it's just photos from the accounts i follow with no ads and no algorithm to hide the things i like. Zooming in on photos is difficult and submitting a set can mean some images are cropped. i also was disappointed that putting links to other fedi accounts doesn't seem to work, it does a search for the username on pixelfed instead of just opening the link

I really do appreciate your work and effort, but the app has so many bugs it's making it impossible to use. The notifications don't work, the comments are not showing, you can not click and see where somebody did comment on your post or you have got reply. That truly takes away the social from social network. And now, the latest, it doesn't show all my photo folders when I try to add a picture so I can't even access the folder I stock my photos on my phone. Get a grip please!

Great potential, much needed alternative to Instagram. That's where the compliments end, unfortunately. While it is getting better, and requested features are being added (batch select photos, better quality app), I'm having one glaring issue where all your uploads crop into this weird aspect ratio. The images are fine when viewed on web, but I shouldn't have to direct anyone to view my posts on web, when they're already in the app.
