I absolutely love the Pixel Thermometer app! While some may find it unnecessary, I’ve found it incredibly useful. When my family got sick, it was a reliable tool, and now I use it daily to check the temperature of my coffee machine. It works flawlessly and has become an essential part of my routine. I’m really impressed with this feature and hope the developers continue to enhance it in future Pixel models!.

please fix the camera not really being aligned with the position of the sensor for the "see through" aiming or whatever it is. makes it's pretty much useless if the thing I'm aiming at isn't where the camera shows.

I don't understand the hate, I love this app, extremely useful, I use it almost everyday for random things, very well designed. Update: I used this to diagnose my car coolant leak by measuring the changing in temps of my car enabling me to rule out other potentially more complex issues I also used it to find insulation leaks in my basement. I also used it to measure the temperature of my dogs nostrils, because why not?

I loved the app before I tried using it to measure a sleeping baby's body temperature: - Bring the smartphone close to the baby. - Select the baby's age. - tap "Measure". Smartphone: MOVE YOUR PHONE (or whatever) as it is extremely loud, considering the small distance to the baby's ears and despite the phone being in sleeping mode 🤦

the app indicates the temperature sensor is too warm. all diagnostics are done. no issues. the app is worthless. tried online support. don't seem to be human beings thus even more worthless. The issue unresolved. Google has definitely outgrown and has no interest in supporting paying customers. what a shame. I have bought every single Nexus and pixel phone since day one and here I am.

no longer works. has been working fine for years but now doesn't work at all.

It's a cool idea, but in practice it's highly inaccurate.

They've removed the most important measure: body temperature (in Canada, anyway). Further, even if you want to take a body temperature measure, you can't because it measures temperature immediately, not with the pass over method required. Just a silly gimmick increasing the price of the phone at this point. Too bad, but that's Google's track record with many things. Support it to death.

Terrible user experience, you need to reset after each measurement. Why not make the app work like any other IR thermometer you can buy?! That is, allow the user to simply hold the button and get continuous readings, or a diagram, or even logging. Also emission coefficients are hidden behind confusing object names, instead of a numeric value the user can change!?

Total and utter dross. Even Shiva would struggle to use. Poor user design go back and think about it Google you could have a really useful app on your hands

works well, but selecting age every time you want to use it is foolish. doesn't remember history results

It works as designed but is boring. I wish there were more apps for the Pixel 10 Pro XL thermometer sensor.

since I've had this Google pixel 9 Pro XL every single day, it tells me that it's overheating and it shuts down. everything turns my screen black and shuts off any connection to any cellular network. everyday. I've never experienced a phone that does this all the time. I have no clue what this app does because obviously it's useless.

This is so stupid that Google don't enable body temperature outside the US, just put in a disclaimer saying it isn't approved for medical use or whatever and get on with enabling it 🤦‍♂️🤷‍♂️🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️🤬 Even worse the Pixel Tips app tells you the feature is there even though it isn't.

damn thing no longer works on my pixel pro 8, and it was one of the main reasons I purchased this device so it's kind of infuriating that a company with trillions of dollars would create such a temporary feature. it worked great and then suddenly it always hollers I ain't doin it right but seeing as how it used to work, CLEARLy it is a phone defect or an app defect. I am looking for an alternative app to access my sensor better than Google" shame they can't even get their own "innovation" to fu

it's helpful, but it can be too finicky when you're trying to take a reading. It will say hold the sensor closer to forehead, even though it's literally almost touching. It seems like they make the reading a fail on purpose sometimes. but the most important feedback I have is that you should be able to save the title of each reading so that you remember what you've measured! also should not have to select an age range every time you want to take a temperature. why would this matter?

It works reasonably well. The temperature sensor is based on infrared, which means that the temperature reading is heavily dependent on the material's emissivity. I was hoping there would be a mode that allows you to explicitely set the emissivity correction factor, but it looks like the "Select a material" dialog is as good as it gets. It's still nice to have this in my pocket nonetheless.

Three stars because it seems to work, but the interface is not good. It'd be considerably better if it integrated the camera to help you figure out where you're pointing the thermometer and whether you're close enough to the target. With the Tensor CPU, it'd even be possible for the camera to detect objects and automatically set/suggest material types for them.

It's really good to have a thermal sensor on my phone and it's as good as most standalone ones as long as you go to the trouble to find out the limitations. But I think the attempts at making the interface easier and more intuitive are doing the opposite. When I want to see how hot my mouth or forehead is (to see if I've got flu, covid, etc) I don't need a complicated vibrating thingummy as I'm quite happy to just tap a button on screen. So I use the vegetable mode to check my temperature?!?
